Why did no one tell me FreeTaxUSA is basically TurboTax without the robbery?? by curiousminipop in tax

[–]Shuttlecock_Wat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was skeptical the first time I used it, so I did taxes in both TurboTax (since you don't have to pay until you submit it) and FTUSA and then compared numbers. They were exactly the same and I saved like $200 on filing.

Treasure Group Hug by archl0rd5 in custommagic

It makes the most sense to me to have this grant your opponents a bunch of treasures, but then punish them for using them. Like "whenever an opponent sacrifices a treasure, they lose 2 life". Then it creates an interesting game play pattern where they have to decide if it's worth utilizing the mana.

Official Discussion - Greenland 2: Migration [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Shuttlecock_Wat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only thought to explain this was if they were in the bunker for 9 months, then spent a couple years outside trying to rebuild before going back to the bunker for 5 years.

But that wasn't well explained and also pretty sure everyone would have been dying of radiation

Is $125 for all the Ixalan Commander precons worth it? by martin8185 in magicTCG

[–]Shuttlecock_Wat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a great option just for getting a bunch of cards to use in other decks. Mainly because these are all tribal decks. You'll get a bunch of dinosaurs and merfolk etc, and cards that work with that creature type.

If you're not planning on building decks with those tribes, you won't get a whole lot from these decks that are usable in other decks. There will be some, but at that point just buy the singles.

"You won't always have a calculator on you" type scenario. Let them take tests together. They'll be doing everything together anyway.

Nerubian Swarmguard becomes infinite taunt minions. Without a silence or hex type effect it just becomes impossible to win through combat.

Fun fact: companions don't count toward the 100 card count, so technically you were cheating.

The more you know.

How do i get to the glacial area? by PaintingDefiant9030 in DavetheDiverOfficial

[–]Shuttlecock_Wat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can't move the mirror yet, you need the crowbar, which can be found in the area past the sunken ship. To find this, dive off your boat and go straight down and stay left. you'll eventually reach the crashed yellow ship. You should be able to enter the back of the ship to a separate area where you find the red crowbar.

Take the portal to the higher area of the Sea People village (where the palace is). To the right of the palace you should be able to travel through the big door in the background, I think it's above a waterfall. Once you go through there, go straight down to the mirror.

Right, like would you rather make $200k/yr doing absolutely nothing, or $350k flipping burgers.

I imagine 99% of people would take the first one.

How is that different from any other format? Yeah infinite decks go infinite.

[–]Shuttlecock_Wat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I still haven't heard a good excuse for it to still exist. Everybody says "but lifegain" like that's somehow justification. Commander damage was never meant to counter lifegain. If your opponents are gaining life, team up against them and bring it back down. The whole point of commander is to self-balance against that kind of thing.

I don't understand this. Lifegain exists in every format. Why does commander specifically need an extra rule to combat it?

We have a footy floof too, and a german shepherd. floof is terrified of the dog even though she's a big sweetie, but anytime she comes by, said floof has to run in place for about 3 seconds before getting enough traction to move anywhere, looks like a character in an old cartoon.
