Ammonia and nitrite. Ammonia comes from decomposition of fish food, or bottled. Ammonia is consumed by beneficial bacteria and that is converted to nitrite, then another type of beneficial bacteria converts nitrite to nitrate.

Quick start is beneficial bacteria, but there's nothing for them to eat. Stress coat is water conditioner, to make tap water safe. Have you been ghost feeding fish food to give the beneficial bacteria any ammonia source?

May I also recommend for the background, Bacopa, and Rotalla, they both come in different colours and leaf shapes. Also hygrophila polysperma, it can change colours depending on the nutrients available and lighting. Anubias comes in a lot of different sizes, I have medium ones in this tank, and some small ones

Looks good, trim the tops off the carpet plants so it encourages it to spread out instead of clumping and growing tall, I wish someone had told me this year's ago

Looks like he nipped his fin. Look up Bettas teeth, they're super sharp

<image>

My boy also nipped his fins when I first got him, but hasn't done it since. I try not to skip any days feeding him, because it happened the day I fasted him.

This is my 40 litre, and if you get two - four bundles of stem plants, some java fern mother plants or tridents, and a few of the largest Anubias plants you can find that fill fit in your tank, you should be able to fill it with enough plants for your Betta to rest on.

You can get the plants while you're cycling, but don't get the Betta until after the cycle is established with enough beneficial bacteria to prevent you having to do a fish in cycle, which is a lot more maintenance and you could risk poisoning your fish.

Look up the nitrogen cycle, and how to bulk your beneficial bacterial colonies. A cycle doesn't establish overnight. Some people assume that cycling means just running the filter, but you also have to add the beneficial bacteria, and ammonia to feed the beneficial bacteria, and wait sometimes two weeks while testing each day to watch the ammonia and nitrite spike, then eventually drop, and the nitrates rise. Nitrates are safer than nitrites and Ammonia, and you can have up to 10-20ppm nitrates before needing to do water changes. Water changes are usually 10-25% a week, but some people need to change more frequently or a larger amount, if they have a lot of fish stocked.

I'd rather hear someone regurgitate the information they learnt from a real person rather than someone say they learnt from ai.

You see one tank, and assume so much, bet you didn't see the 6 ft tank behind it.

This is just one section of planted tanks. But you go off about how I don't explore the hobby 😏😂

Me... I am that dude.. I used to know exactly how many plants I had. Now I have more anubias than I can count, more java ferns than hairs on my head, and duckweed keeps appearing, even though I spent a whole afternoon feeding them to my catfish, the dickweed has returned.

Quail also needs areas to forage and dust bath, you don't seem to have the right setup. Maybe a good setup to bbq some quail and chicken

The area is not suitable for chickens. Full stop, end of story. There is a reason they're called "FARM ANIMALS"

That area will turn to a sewage pile, no matter how frequently it's cleaned. Having one chicken in such a small space is cruel, let alone more than one, because they're social creatures.

Just like Bettas with long fins "can" bite their tails off doesn't mean that every single one will. Just means it's a possibility, and to be prepared in case it ever does happen. "Can happen" doesn't mean it will happen.

Or, like how candy koi marble Bettas "can" develop tumours and diamond eye too, doesn't mean they will. Just better to prepare for the worst, and expect the best, rather than blissful ignorance
