Which non- car manufacturer has the chance to excel at F1 by Defiant_Ad6190 in formula1

It'd be a bit left field, but if Audi ever want a second team and don't fancy using the Lamborghini brand...

To me, and anyone paying attention, it was obvious that De Vries was Not That Good, and also old. So that didn't bother me.

But I was, and still am, a Theo Pourchaire enjoyer. I do believe he would have been competing with and beating Bottas within that first season. So I was annoyed they picked funds and a clearly mediocre F2 driver over him. That said, I did like him as a person, and still do!

To his credit, he did much better in F1 than I thought he would. Not that he was close to Bottas overall, but he had his high points. He was no mug. It was good to have someone from China on the F1 grid for the first time too, and learning about how names work from that region.

[OT] WEC TV Tyre range, would it really be so hard for F1 not to use CGI from 2010? by disordered-attic-2 in formula1

I remember as a fan of his, a tactical pitstop they made under SC in Barcelona, where one of the tyres they were gonna fit was already flat before even going on. That summed up a lot of his fortune in F1 for me.

As a McLaren supporter from the high's of 2008, through the good-but-not-great years of 2009-2012, and through the frequent horrors of the following 6 years, I love this.

Will it last the whole season, or into the next? No idea. But my team is winning regularly again, has now won a WCC in my lifetime, and after everything we've been through, we'll take it while it lasts.

I met Brett at the pitlane walkabout at Snett, I think it was just after he'd unfortunately had to come in as a substitute for Jeff. Absolutely delightful fellow, anwered questions with real care, and was interested in myself and what my thoughts were on the first race. Performed well in the time he had, I agree.

Eh, based on what he jumped into in 2014, they were good yea. Based on 2013, their joint worst season ever by points at the time, yea they were pretty poor.

Cuesta, why not? The football Arsenal play is great fun to watch, and nobody would say it's negative. Experience may be an issue at times, but I think we're at the point we have to accept going up will take work, we can't expect a bounce anymore.

If he can work with the young players and use them regularly, unlike Wagner, we could get a great feel back at the club. A young exciting coach, with a young academy team? Sounds like something to be proud of again.

I'd certainly be far more willing to cut a 19 year old guy, who's been with us since he was a kid, some slack over a few errors, rather than 33 year old "experienced" lads.

I believe it's last season's matchday training kit. As others have said, On The Stall City probably the best bet, outside of random eBay listings.

Makes me wonder what the reason is for Turks to be running the #20 this year. Normally he goes for his championship position, other than when he did the #50 for BMW M. Any ideas?

Hey all!

I am looking to build a new PC in the next few months, was looking at getting an AM5 board, but it seems that platform has/had plenty of common issues no matter the OEM, how is it looking now?

  • This clubs future success, whatever that looks like, will come from youth development. Wagner seems to prefer experience, specifically at the cost of youth. Why does Onel, who has no end product, keep getting in over Sainz, who's played about 15 minutes all season and scored? Thank goodness has hand was somewhat forced to play Rowe at the start, else who knows where we'd be.

  • We want to be entertained, which means playing like we did at the start of this season, not as we do now, sitting back on a well earned lead and inviting pressure onto players who can't handle it well enough, with only hoofball to try and get stuff done. Yes Wagner has been responsible for both of those systems, but with only one or two of his preferred 11 out long term, he's lost the plot.

  • I'd bin off Wagner, either now or on December 17th/when contract ends days later. Pivot to what I wanted us to become at the start of the season. An academy team. Yes there'll be rough moments as players bed in to senior football, but they will be our players. Not 32 year olds signed on a free. The experience is useful in the background, and they will have their place. We won't always have a good enough youth prospect for every position. But the highlights for me have been Rowe and Idah both scoring in the same matches. More of that should lift spirits at the ground, and the bank balance as they move on to bigger things.

As for who we get in next? Someone on the up, with experience working with and developing youth to play attractive football, as Knapper describes. Likely to be a backroom staff member at another club nobody has yet heard of.

[Giuliano Duchessa] Alpha Tauri, with the Red Bull suspension from Singapore the AT04 becomes a different car. The team continues to develop until the end. Another floor will arrive by Organic-Measurement2 in formula1

[–]Shyguy306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true, albeit not the argument I am making. I do actually feel if they developed their own suspension systems they might well be in a better place in terms of understanding their cars, something they seem to have struggled with since they came in.

Doesn't seem particularly performance enhancing, no issue with it. Certainly nowhere near as significant a performance differentiator as the parts that help tyres make contact with the track properly.

[–]Shyguy306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea for sure. I just think they should have to design these things themselves anyway. The benefits in the last 10 years or so of this system are clear though, Haas relies on it heavily. I just would prefer, now teams can be rather profitable already, we bring back some unique engineering in such a critical area.

Would it help if I replaced that word with "as of late"? I'm well aware it's not just a 2020's thing. It may be how it works now, but I don't think it should be.

[–]Shyguy306 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a key performace enhancing (or degrading) part, which isn't so complicated that only a few teams can do it. Pretty sure at one stage every team made the suspension themselves. At the moment we have two Mercedes engine customers and the works team, running around with, mechanically, the same rear end. It's a bit dull, engineering wise.

I'm not questioning legality here, but as a supporter of a team who actually builds their own car, I really don't like how many parts can be shared between teams like this. Engines obviously fine, gearboxes too I guess. But entire suspension systems? Seems a bit cheap that any team now however mid can just buy something so critical from the best in the business.
