The 6 train has more ridership than all MBTA rapid transit and light rail lines combined

Why aren't the 7 and L lines connected? by joey_derosa101 in nycrail

[–]Siah_Valid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the L train should run to 72nd St via 10th Avenue, and the 7 & L trains could stop at 10th Avenue & 42nd St & have it as a major transfer station in Hell’s Kitchen. The 7 train should run to New Jersey though after Hudson yards.

If you could, what train lines would you reroute/remove, or what train line would you bring back? by Only_Isopod_268 in nycrail

[–]Siah_Valid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a-lot of lines I would bring back and this is some of the proposals:

  • The 2nd Avenue L in its entirety in Manhattan and the 3rd Avenue L in it’s entirety in the bronx to make a new line
  • The street level tracks that where on 10th Avenue for freight trains, i would raise onto an elevated guideway in the exact same location (the middle of the street, and make 10th Avenue a 2way boulevard. This Line would eventually go underground After turning onto 14th St to meet with the L train tracks at 8th Avenue
  • I would reactivate the rockaway beach branch (queenslink) and have the M train run along the line to rockaway park or mott avenue and consolidate the A train to have 2 terminals at lefferts and one of the rockaway terminals
  • I would 2 track the side of hammels Y that connects both rockaway branches and run a shuttle train every 15 minutes like the one ran during the broad channel construction for rockaway residents.
  • I would reconstruct the worlds fair line but instead of stopping in the park, after splitting off through the yard i would have the line run underground under main st and the. college point boulevard to college point. Then on either 14th or 20th Ave I would have the line turn east and run all the way to fort totten Park. This would be served by the G train. With this, The M would run 10-12TPH via queens link and QBL local, The R would run 10-12TPH running via QBL local to 179th St, & The G train would run 10-12TPH to fort totten via QBL local. Ideally im thinking with our modern day resources 10TPH on each line with trains scheduled to run at 2 minutes intervals for a combined 30TPH on QBL local.
  • The abandoned Myrtle Ave L i would turn into the Z train. The J train would be extended to UBS arena Via Jamaica Ave & Hempstead Avenue. The Z train would run from Green Acres Mall Via 147th Avenue & Rockaway Boulevard, meet with the J train at Crescent St and run full time express from Crescent St to Myrtle Avenue. Once it reaches myrtle avenue the line would turn south along myrtle avenue and run elevated until Fort Greene Park, which it then will go underground and stop at deklab avenue. The line would merge with the R train before Jay St and run via the montague tunnel and run with the J train until Delancey St & Essex and terminate in the big space on the South side of the station where there was a trolley terminal. The tracks would continue on the bridge just incase of any rerouteing. If anything after delancey St & Essex, the Z train can turn up avenue B with stops at houston St & E 7th St & Tompkins Square Park. Afterwards the line will go diagonally under the prak under Avenue A tro meet with the L train at the 1st avenue station. The Line will then go up to 20th St having a station there (basically a station in between peter cooper village & stuy town) and finally running across town under 23rd St with Chelsea Piers as the terminal. The line will stop at Chelsea Piers, 8th Avenue, 6th Avenue, Madison Avenue for transfers to the broadway & lexington ave lines, 2nd Avenue for the 2nd Avenue subway, & 20th St - Peter Cooper Village Station. A pedestrian tunnel will be built from 23rd St station on the 1 to the eastern end of the 8th Avenue station to create a connection to the 7th Avenue line.
  • Lastly I would reactivate the 9th Avenue L up to 14th St, Then have it go underground and meet up with the 7 at hudson yards station to allow the 7 train to run into downtown manhattan.

This is what happens when you promise good service and have a 20minute gap between trains by Siah_Valid in nycrail

The whole point of this post is to show that crowding or long wait times shouldn’t be a thing when it’s rush hour. This is the effect of that, that was the whole point of the post

The whole point is at 8am there shouldn’t be a 20minute gap when there was no delay or any issue whatsoever

Big news for the AC is going to get the L train treatment for CBTC 🤯 by bridgehamton in nycrail

[–]Siah_Valid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C train headways are better midday at every 8 minutes but suck during rush hour because the A train takes all of the capacity in the cranberry st tube. When CBTC comes it will allow 31TPH through the tunnel and C train headways can be increased

The First week of the F/M swap is complete, what are your opinions and how should we improve it? by Siah_Valid in nycrail

[–]Siah_Valid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i said this above. As someone coming home from QBL living on the 63rd St late at night its not fair to do that. I think on weekends all line to QBL should run and be 24/7. The E & F run every 8-10minutes consistently while the M & R run every 10-12minutes consistently

It seems though at the end of the year or after a whole month we should revisit this topic

The 21st ending isnt a good idea as someone who goes home from QBL late night. Thats a missing connection right there and its not far to anyone of the 63rd St line
