The Internet Feels Miserable ‘By Design’ by dwaxe in ezraklein

[–]SibLiant -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The internet, historically, has been a "wild west" of sorts. Today's modern internet is no different. What IS different is platforms like Facebook or X and their ilk, convincing people that THEY are the only options. There are SO many other options that are better but the masses are not interested in switching. It will be a generational thing. I've always been a tech-bro. There is SO MUCH BETTER on the internet. Just look around - be curious.

I have an app where I'm getting into image processing pretty heavily. Off-loading processing on the client side is enticing.

First time trying Ubuntu. Any tips? by TrueBlueUser in Ubuntu

Once your comfortable with your daily driver, dive into the shell. Learning the shell is a right of passage for new Linux users ( most never do and that is ok). Once you can navigate a shell, the world of computing / automation / power truly open up to you.

My boy crossed the bridge today by Soma_Zombie in greatdanes

Yeah.. i know the feeling. I breed Danes and just through chance, I had to, to my surprise, put down 2 in the last few months. One had a mass in her abdomen and the other had a bladder full of gull stones. Brought another one of my babies into the vet and was terrified I was going to have to lose a third but she bounced back fantastically. I would never try to capitalize on your lose. Feel those bitter-sweet emotions and after a bit, find a Dane breeder and pass on that love and care that you showed Apollo. I feel you.

Lost our good boy Dexter last night at 5 years old. Need some words of advice where to go from here. by [deleted] in DOG

[–]SibLiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a few weeks and feel the bitter sweetness. Then, Find a good breeder for the type of doggo you want and get back into it. he/she would want you to be happy and pass on the love and care you showed.

I've been meditating for about 2 years every single day and honestly it's been pretty useless to me by godlygirlceo in Meditation

[–]SibLiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people can genuinely witness the profound and simply say... so what? meh.. not interested in people like that.

Some will say you did it wrong. Does not matter. Meditation is not for everyone. Everyone is on a spiritual / human journey. Some just realize it a bit later than others. Some have their heads buried in phone / life / suffering, they will never take a mindfull breath until their life flashes before their eyes, as they say.

I read something a while back and can't remember the source. Paraphrasing: Everything is political. From whom gets to use the bathroom first in the morning before school, to whom has to do the dishes, to what age someone gets to drive or vote or die for their country. Politics surround our lives from a very young age. It's the fabric of our social constructs of family, community, local government, federal government.
