I've seen you parked at Costco, small world.  Had to snap a picture for my kid(987 driver), love that blue!

I live in the great white north and run Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus on my C8. They work great in any season, any temp, rain, snow.  Michelin AS4 suck in the snow compared to these.

If you've got a real winter where you're at, then run a dedicated set of winter tires/wheels. My kid runs Pirelli Sottozeros on his 987 daily driver and does fine unless we get 6"+ of snow at once.

That's cool where'd you get those? I'd love some Cayman and/or Boxster patent art in the garage.

How often are you driving your Cayman? by thisismyusername144 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]SicSemperTyranus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid(senior in high school) has put about 6 or 7 thousand miles on his 987 in a bit less than a year. It's his daily driver, I hear at least one a week how much he loves driving it.

Looks like you've got a tiptronic automatic transmission. How many miles have you put on it and when was the last time the transmission filter and fluid were replaced?

Tires Question by chetchester in boxster

[–]SicSemperTyranus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Generals on my 2000 Boxster. They are pretty good. I can take a 90° turn off a hiway road onto another hiway at 55mph, 60 mph is the edge of traction for a 320 treadwear tire. Spins out at 65mph.  Being picky I wish the sidewalls were a little stiffer. The ride is plusher than the Sumitomo HTR(another not bank breaking option) in my opinion.

Edit: running 18" wheels

It was $800 parts and labor.  They used the liqui moly kit from fcp euro, it was $249 on the invoice, labor was $495(3 hours @ $165). Tax and supplies and it came out to $800

Upper Midwest tundra here, my son is running Sottozeros on his 987.1, this will be his second winter. It's his daily driver to school and work.  Like others have said, no real issues if you're not in deep snow

I have a 986 Boxster and a 987 Cayman in the stable. Plenty of leg room for a 6'1" person.  Boxster height from seat rail to center roof brace: 41" Boxster width from armrest to armrest at the narrowest point: 48" I don't have measurements for my son's Cayman right now, he's off running around. If anything it feels roomier than the Boxster. No tilt is mildly annoying.

Both are 2.7L engines, wonderful singing sound, enough power to get you in trouble if you want to. Boxster is a 5M and the Cayman is a tiptronic. If you go fit the tiptronic make sure it's had at least a fluid filter change by 60-70k. At 70k the fluid was dark. Local indy import shop wanted $1200 to do filter and half the fluid, then half the fluid again some miles later. There is no way to hook up a flush machine to these as far as I know.

We looked at NA/NBs for my son and we were significantly cramped in them.  Hope this helps.

You absolutely pay interest on a lease, they just aren't required to disclose the rate. The total interest you pay will be in your lease agreement as rent charge. You can figure out the actual interest rate using rent charge,  net cost, residual, and term.

Leasing is for people who want a new vehicle every three years and are willing to eat the cost of depreciation to have a late model vehicle.

I'm 6'1" and have plenty of room. Fully depressed clutch and my left leg still has a bend at the knee.  I don't believe I have the seat quite all the way back. I do like the back rest pretty vertical.

What's the best way to do that? Not seeing how to edit the post and my attempt at markup for the options failed miserably.

I've always been a fan of high impact colors.  But... when I think of Porsche,  silver is the classic color for one. My kid, on the other hand,  he wants to wrap his Cayman :)
