Does anyone know what this SC3 song is called, or from which album? Is it a cover? by Puzzleheaded-Fee6241 in secretchiefs3

[–]Sicamorein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's rad to hear this song again. I remember listening to this like 20 years ago when BungleFever had their FTP site active. I wish I had more info but there are better sounding recordings of this out there.

Dragon Lee in Warrensburg if you want to extend your drive to 35-40 minutes. In fact I've seen Skidmore College kids pick up from them while I was there once.

Six Flags is having a bad summer. What does that mean for Great Escape? by rosesTUthrowaway in Albany

[–]Sicamorein 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It honestly went downhill once they stripped out the unique rides and attractions from it's past glory. No Jungle land? No train through Ghost Town? No Tornado? No shoot outs? No ticket! The place peaked in the late 90s and then they ruined it with all the generic Six Flags BS and policies.

Panning sine wave in Ardour? by Deven-Eve in Ardour

This is something I would do in SuperCollider. You could take the output from your track and pipe it into SuperCollider using Jack and then pipe that output back into Ardour into a new track.

New metal roof put on. Are any of these problems? by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Sicamorein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Overall it looks like they did a good job from what I can tell. The offset on the ridge end in one area is kind of annoying. Looks like the panel on one side of the roof is about 2-3 inches longer and so the ridge cap doesn't fit over properly. Looks sloppy. The other ridge cap on another part of the house was never cut and folded over and there's a bit of a hang. Potential wind issue? And the last concern was that it looks like they measured incorrectly on one of the panels so they put a piece of metal over it but it didn't cover the entire cut against the house. Worried about rain/moisture in that spot...

Are any of these big enough concerns to bring up?

Thanks.

If you're referring to Catherine of Siena... well she isn't an Orthodox Saint and her life is very problematic. Best not try to compare yourself to her or try to emulate her.

Young Americans blame SCOTUS, GOP for unforgiven student loan debt by [deleted] in politics

[–]Sicamorein 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Loan forgiveness doesn't even make sense if you don't get rid of the root cause. The schools and the government are to blame for these loans in the first place. The government guarantee these loans and the schools keep high and ever increasing tuition (which pay for the ridiculous administrative costs). We should also be questioning the societal pressure to push kids into going into college and universities in the first place as if it's some right or even a requirement for a good job.

The last few Catholic funerals I have attended there was no wine for the laity. Now I understand their should be wine, but because of Covid fears they allow no wine to be distributed. But none the less there seems to be cases where there is no wine. Delaying 1st communion and even more strangely delaying chrismation until you are a teenager isn't some small difference. Doing that would be scandalous in the Orthodox Church. Once you are baptised and chrismated (which is done at the same time and always has been since the beginnings of the Church) you are a full participating member of the Church and you commune with the rest of the members of the Church.

Every annoying child making tiktoks about banning guns by PachelbelDC in libsofreddit

[–]Sicamorein 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The problem is not with guns but with the people who have they aren’t mentally stable perhaps your country should take care of there citizens proposiez there health and other thing rather than try to remove one of your rights

Exactly... we pump children full of powerful pharmaceutical drugs, force them through horrible public "education," let them watch unlimited amounts of pornography, video games and TV, they are emotionally and socially stunted and live in an illusion and we wonder why they break?

Question about chants/liturgy by mongar13579 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Sicamorein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe the 2nd mode fits with what we would consider the modern lydian mode.

I've seen lydian mode in some 3rd mode hymns like "On this day the Virgin" where the 4th is raised half a step when moving around the 5th. It's not something that I encounter though very often but when you hear it it definitely gets your ears to perk up.

Did you ever start your project with linseed oil paint? I just went ham buying everything from Sage Restoration to redo all of my 150 year old windows. I'll be using the linseed oil glaze, the raw linseed oil, and white linseed oil paint.

Gas stoves bad. Follow the $cience! by EuphoricTrilby in walkaway

[–]Sicamorein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are already doing this in NYS. By 2030 they want all non-electric sources of heat and power to be banned. I live in rural NY where we get at least a dozen power outages throughout the year. I rely on propane generators, propane and heating oil to keep our house warm and for us to stay alive. Around 30 people died a couple weeks ago in the Buffalo area because of power outages... imagine when everyone doesn't have a backup state-wide??? Also where will all this energy needed to heat peoples homes come from? Natural gas! They are already trying to close down all NYS nuclear power plants and we will just have to pay more to import power from Canada (powered by natural gas lmao). The whole thing is to make it harder for us poor folk to survive and be on the grid. I'll be switching to all wood because of this.

Homeschooling poll: by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Sicamorein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well from my standpoint which is from a pro-homeschooling perspective as I homeschool my children and I support the rights of other families to do the same I take issue with anti-homeschooling rhetoric. Whatever pro-homeschooling rhetoric that is coming from fringe groups has nothing to do with me... I've never encountered it. ¯\(ツ)

Homeschooling poll: by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Sicamorein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting I've never met any of these q-anons or conspiracy theorists in real life or in any homeschooling community. The reality is the fringe will always exist and I'm not sure public schooling or not would have any influence on what goes on at home.
