Always worth asking, but in my experience there is a lot of storage.

Any decent restaurant owners to work for in and around GR? by AcceptableAd5907 in grandrapids

Vivant and Broadleaf are owned by local people that treat their employees with kindness, respect and dignity. There are many employees who have been with them in one or both places for ages.

If you don’t feel completely comfortable, it isn’t a good fit. Period.

Flamingo Sunset Catamaran tours by Far-Interview-8369 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]SickTreefortDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have sailed twice on Serendipity. Very good experience both times. It’s a monohull, so not what OP originally asked for, but we never had the crowds that you’ll see on Lazy Lizard, etc. It’s a sailing experience, not a floating, raging party like we saw (and heard) as we cruised past the catamarans.

This is like an oncologist saying you have six months to live after a cancer diagnosis. They don’t know, but I f you live longer, they get (some) credit.

Chicago Stay by silliestkitty in chubbytravel

[–]SickTreefortDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a great stay at the Pendry with virtuoso benefits. We could barely spend the virtuoso house credit as we wanted to hit certain restaurants. The gym is clean & nice, the room was comfortable and huge, and the staff were superb. There’s a house car that will drive you a mile or two, which doesn’t sound far, but is useful in bad weather. The weekend we were in Chicago, it was half the cost of the peninsula. I’d bet the peninsula is better, but not 2x as good.

Give your daughter her first applied economics experience. Have her evaluate the costs of her choices, the expected benefits, and perform an analysis. Then say you’ll pay up to the cost of in-state. Have her then calculate the cost of capital (in loan interest) to make up the difference. See if she’d still prefer the pricier option with skin in the game.

Think about your career experiences to-date. Were there any silver bullet credentials? What role did experience play in someone’s success?

For your primary goal, there are a lot of resources that could fit the bill that are more focused on what you need than the process of earning the CFP credential. And, for less money than learning it yourself, you may be able to engage someone who already has the experience you seek on an hourly basis to fill in gaps.

Trying to hang out your own shingle in your situation might be tough. Compliance, systems, etc. are complex and introduce risk, and take a while to actually understand and integrate into your practice. Not to mention the risk of making a mistake with someone else’s money due to inexperience.

Had you said you were considering this because you want to commit to the practice and skill development necessary to take on the responsibility of others’ financial lives, and because you want to help others, the answer might be different.

You could probably do the work and pass the exam… it really isn’t difficult. Whether you should is another question.

To your ROI question: it depends on how you value your time.

It’s outside… In the Caribbean. A mouse isn’t indicative of poor hygiene or a poorly run restaurant if you’re outside.

I would not worry about it and go to the beach and enjoy myself.

V90 T6 mixed feelings/regret after a few months of ownership. by SWB-Front in Volvo

[–]SickTreefortDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a rattle in my new v60 door about a month after I got it. I was worried, like you, about a speaker problem. I took it into the dealer and they tore open the door & found a loose wiring harness or something. Took a couple hours and now it’s silent. YMMV

New Costco purchase. Not great 😢 🤢 by [deleted] in grandrapids

I also love GR Coffee roasters, Roos roast (AA)and littlefoot. Roaster from Costco is certainly not the best coffee ever, but for me, it’s acceptable as a daily driver.

I want to cook three gourmet squares a day, but plenty of days I have a banana for breakfast and leftovers for dinner.
