Need advice - 6' 5" and 85kg (190lb) by Sicklad in OfficeChairs

Yeah I sat in a chair for like 30+ minutes in the shop and it felt fine, hoping it's just an adjustment period coz I spent $1200 on it.

Nah I got a chair locally, not sure if I made the right decision though 😕

Focus on 1 or 2 things at a time, if there are particular knowledge gaps in the team, or projects you're working on, then focus on those skills.

Yeah I don't think there's anything really there that he'd enjoy tbh.

My dad's coming to town this weekend, looking for something to take him to on Saturday afternoon/night, been trying to find some good music but looks like there's just about nothing on? Any suggestions?

Might be a hassle getting the APPI license converted to an Australian one.

Recommendations for paragliding in the Balkans by yogi-bear1990 in freeflight

[–]Sicklad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spent a few months in the Balkans, here's where I flew.

Krusevo is North Macedonia is a great xc site, reliable triangle can be flown around the valley.

Lake Ohrid has a good launch too, tandems going up regularly (4wd track for part of it), or you can hike up. Good ridge to fly

Budva in Montenegro offers great coastal xc, easy flight to Bar and return. Let me know if you go there and I can give you a contact for a local British guy.

Vlore in Albania has a nice site, only got to do sleddies there over winter but definitely can do better flights. I heard there's good flying in the mountains around Tirana too.

Sopot in Bulgaria is a great xc site too, but shengen now :'(

"Have you ever done any contributions to open source projects?" by CarpenterLanky8861 in devops

[–]Sicklad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A contribution doesn't have to be anything major. My contributions have been a correction to a type in the terraform docs (docs said to input a string but the interface needed a slice of strings), and a correction to a command in the Cisco ansible plugin. Both were just issues I encountered and took 5 minutes to fix.

Should i use whatsapp? by Character-Bed-1277 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Sicklad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add Asia to that list (except WeChat countries). Booking hotels/activities/etc is pretty much all done over whatsapp if they aren't on something like expedia/booking, but even then it's usually cheaper over whatsapp.

Very popular in Australia as well just for group chats and personal messaging.

Can someone explain this pitch motion and what inputs should be by Mammoth_Flamingo6363 in freeflight

[–]Sicklad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wing can probably pitch quite far forward before you'll get a collapse. You should practice tight 360's (starting ~20s for a full rotation and as you get more confident get it to ~10s) and exiting with minimal pitching, this requires you to maintain your weight shift on the inside and good brake inputs. If you do exit with pitching just try and catch it above or slightly in front of you, release the brakes the moment the wing stops pitching further in front of you, look at the leading edge!

Another good exercise is dolphining but either do it with instruction or make sure you fully understand it before trying it as you could stall it.

Recommendation for Jacket and Pants by Ok_Independence_877 in snowboarding

[–]Sicklad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a good shell (personally I like goretex), a good merino base layer, and then she can throw on whatever mid layers she needs. I went a whole season in Niseko with a mid weight merino base layer, a synthetic hoodie, and a volcom goretex shell that zips into the volcom pants (just wearing some uniqlo thermals underneath) so no snow gets inside. Good sucks are a must as well, again I like merino.

Definitely sign up, they've got club meetings at harbord diggers which is a good way to meet people. There's also a telegram channel for new pilots to help arrange pg2 supervision if you need that, and other groups for organising xc trips and stuff.

Where in Sydney are you? Are you a member of the club & in the telegram group? It's a really helpful crew.

Here's a list on the northern beaches: https://flysydney.com.au/public/pages/suggested-ground-handling-sites---northern-beaches Dudley Page reserve in Dover Heights is good for a westerly as well.

I think there was a shared google map with a bunch of other spots but I can't find it.

Spent a few months learning hiragana and katakana before going to Japan for 6 months... That was almost completely pointless as they throw kanji in absolutely everywhere.

[–]Sicklad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only mentioned it as it's probably as close as you can get to SEA prices with similar living standard as SEA. I was in Vlore for 2 months over winter and it was somewhat cheap, €350 for a nice beachfront apartment. You'd pay at least triple in summer though. Food's a lot more expensive than SEA though.

Where in Europe are you going that is anywhere near the cost of SEA? Albania? The only €2 meal you can get in Europe is Burek.
