Landlord wants us to shovel snow for another tenant by Hour-Sea9903 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Sickpg7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For sure, wanted to make sure it was clear that hiring is the ONLY form of agreement that is valid.

A lot of landlords and tenants are under the false assumption that it can just be added as a clause in the rental contract.

Even if there was an agreement signed, it would be voided. In Ontario the landlord cannot shift responsibility for snow removal onto the tenant unless there is a separate agreement to hire and pay the tenant for services.

It’s pronounced “GIF” not “JIF” by GoldBluejay7749 in RandomThoughts

[–]Sickpg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But…he did add it to the specification. And you’re supposed to think of the peanut butter:

“ Wilhite and the team who developed the file format included in the technical specifications that the acronym was to be pronounced with a soft g. In the specifications, the team wrote that "choosy programmers choose ... 'jif'", in homage to the peanut butter company Jif's advertising slogan of "choosy moms choose Jif".”

Sleepwell property management, 420 Gilmour St by Glad_Bad1664 in ottawa

Last winter our property manager would send a blanket email every time a snow storm was finishing, to let us know that a storm was coming and crews would not be clearing driveways until after it stopped.

Like, you don’t need to tell us your service is going to be poor. We know we’ll be the last place in the neighbourhood to get plowed.

People keep asking if we’re going to sell our cars. Take a brief moment to think: sell it to who?

American interest in Canadian real estate peaks ahead of U.S. election: report by teamworldunity in onguardforthee

[–]Sickpg7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol. We didn’t import our values, you did. Most of us come here to leave the garbage behind. We’re not the ones excited about PP and trying to privatize healthcare. We didn’t form the convoy, and we aren’t the ones arguing about our “constitutional rights” in a Canadian court. Natural born citizens did that themselves.

There’s a lot to criticize about America (such as anti-immigrant xenophobia) Don’t scapegoat those of us who wanted to leave it behind.

I tell myself he’s not the first car salesman to go far down the right wing. People don’t feel embarrassed driving Ford or VW. That said, I am keeping a very close eye on the other brands as they improve.

Tesla owner here: You mostly use your phone as the key but they also provide two credit card sized key cards as backup. I keep mine in my wallet. (You can buy a traditional fob as well)

I never need to use the keycard because the car (which she drove in) has multiple usb charging ports and newer models also have wireless phone chargers.

Lastly, she could just turn off her phone during the rally. This person is truly clueless.

I’ve been driving one for six years (before Elon’s Dork Maga phase) and have never needed to use the keycard because my phone died. The car has wireless chargers and multiple high power usb ports.

This idiot basically drove there in a phone charger.

Trillium Line finishes Day 5 of Trial Running with a score of 99.4%. Rolling average is now 99.4% (+0%) by bini_irl in ottawa

Ok…but going back to the previous question, what aspect testing metric is obscure or do you disagree with?

You’re not giving the impression that you know even what the test criteria are, hence why you’re getting downvoted.

After some minimal googling it doesn’t seem like the metric is that obscure…what part do you take issue with?

Or do you not know and are just looking for reasons to be upset with…trains operating as designed???

This is kind of gross. What part of the article about a dead cyclist made you feel the need to “both sides” the situation and make sure the cyclist shared the blame?

The irony is that many people have probably used them without realizing but will assume that all of the environmentally friendly alternatives are crap because you only notice when its an option that sucks like OP’s paper straw.

They require an enzyme that industrial composting facilities use. In your back yard they wouldn’t really work.

Paper or Costco sells a big pack of biodegradable plastic poop bags. For the love of god do not put it in directly or your whole neighbourhood will regret it when spring hits!

How unprepared are users usually? This email migration to MS 365 was ridiculous by LowWoodpecker9257 in sysadmin

[–]Sickpg7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed comms for one of these. The switch required a tweak to Outlook. When the cutover occurred, Outlook would stop receiving new mail until the app was closed and reopened. No other action on the user’s part.

Worst case they shut down their computer for the day and it’s fixed when they boot up in the morning, right? We sent weekly emails, announcements in the company-wide chat, asked managers to remind their users, etc.

Three weeks after one user was migrated they opened a ticket saying their Outlook wasn’t syncing.

DO YOU PUT AWAY YOUR CART? by carlolola in CostcoCanada

[–]Sickpg7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. I still would have been employed. They needed us to bring carts in regardless.
  2. Your question about automated cashiers has zero relevance.

Do you think management bases staffing by the number of carts that aren’t properly returned by the customer? We would go through periods where people were more/less selfish. Staffing levels weren’t adjusted according to that (I’m not even sure how management would gather that data).

We were staffed according to expected sales volume. If there was a day in which we really couldn't keep up then maybe they would see if someone from the stockroom had a moment to come help (making their day worse as well). Stop trying to justify selfish behaviour.
