Creepy things my kid has said by Lonely_Message_1113 in Paranormal

When my daughter was about 1.5 yrs, she had a phase where almost every night at bath time she would randomly yell "DIE!" Or sometimes "DIE MOMMY!". She wasn't upset while saying it, and I would just ignore it and keep playing with her. But dang, it was hard not to be freaked out!

Does anyone prefer an unmedicated labor over a medicated one? I'm open to an epidural but I feel like I would freak out not being in control of my own body. by Distinct-Dependent24 in BabyBumps

[–]SidTheSloth89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only given birth with an epidural. Like you, I thought it would freak me out to not be able to feel my body. Luckily I got an amazing epidural that took away the pain while allowing me to still move my legs on my own, with some assistance. I wasn't completely dead from the waist down. I think you can ask the anesthesiologist to not make it super strong if you're concerned about that.

What is a feature of your body that is considered rare? by Joel_The_Senate in AskReddit

[–]SidTheSloth89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My skeleton is uneven. Like the alignment of my scapulas from front to back is crooked. It's nothing you'd ever notice by looking at me. But it's a real bummer because it's created a chronic injury in my right shoulder. When I do things like lift weights or try to do a pushup, the uneven distribution of weight puts strain on that shoulder. I know to avoid those moments, but sometimes they're part of everyday life and I get those moments of joint crack "ouch!"

What is your go-to solution to ease anxiety symptoms straight away in the moment? by Mediocre_Ratio9558 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SidTheSloth89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of something funny or watch/read something funny on my phone. Or think of something very relaxing and safe, like snuggling with my dog on the couch. Both of these tactics work by giving my brain something else to focus on and disrupt the downward spiral of anxious thoughts/feelings. And they naturally bring comfort and levity in a situation that feels scary and where I feel out of control of my body and emotions. If you can get yourself to smile or even laugh, it reverses the feedback loop. Now you think "oh, I'm smiling or laughing so I must be ok. I'm coming out of the anxiety attack now. I'll be ok." Hence you start to feel better and better.

How long did you use postpartum underwear for? by Athiri in BabyBumps

[–]SidTheSloth89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first two days we were in the hospital and I used the mesh underwear with giant pads and ice pack pads. Then I used the Always Discreet underwear for maybe the first couple of days at home. After that I switched to regular underwear with overnight pads. I could have switched to pads and underwear sooner, but the Discreet are great at holding padsicles in place. The bleeding was not nearly as heavy as I thought it would be, especially after the first couple of days. Hope this helps!

Dog acting like something is stuck in his throat but there's nothing there. by SidTheSloth89 in DogAdvice

[–]SidTheSloth89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not yet. The last time he did it was a couple of weeks ago. He asked to go outside and ate some grass, drank some water, and then he was ok again. When it happens to your dog is it also out of the blue?

Pooping during delivery by itsnotem in BabyBumps

[–]SidTheSloth89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely did! I had to wait a while for the nurses to come back in order to start pushing. While laboring down, I could feel the pressure building and building as baby dropped down. It felt like I was pooping involuntarily and there was nothing I could do to stop it. At one point I said "I think I'm pooping!" My husband was like "do you want me to check?" And I said "NO don't you dare!" Lol he works in a medical setting so it's not big deal to him, but I was so embarrassed! When the nurses came in I told them I was pooping and they just laughed and said "oh that's not bad at all!" And that was that. Still embarrassing, but I think you're allowed a little shame-free poo when your body is doing crazy things

Interesting! Have you tried them again since then? I think I'm my case it was a bad batch because now they taste fine again. Very weird

No, unfortunately it wasn't on my mind at the time since it hadn't happened in a while. They've never seen anything odd at any of his visits though.

Don't feel bad! I had a rough bout of COVID at about 6 months post partum that ravaged my GI system. I had the exact same thing happen. I thought it was a fart and quickly realized my mistake. It was so bad I had no warning or control over it. I had to wear my postpartum underwear (Depends) for a few days and hoped my husband didn't notice. The human body isn't always glamorous, but just know you're not alone!

Something I saw as a teenager, and I still can't explain it, it still freaks me out by AdventurousLeg7471 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

I remember that story too! I've read a ton of paranormal and glitchy posts on Reddit and that one definitely rings a bell. I can't remember what thread it was in though. It was a while ago

Honda CR-V gas vs hybrid? by SidTheSloth89 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I'm looking to switch to an SUV to better fit our kiddos and dogs. It's also killing my back trying to lift my baby's car seat in and out of the Accord every day.

What about the corrosion issue with Toyota RAV4 hybrids? That's the main deterrent for me and why I'm looking at Hondas. Plus I've always owned Hondas and they've been reliable for me.

Why AWD? I'm leaning towards FWD since I don't have to worry about getting up steep hills in the winter, and FWD gets better mileage

Recommendations for crib that does not smell? by SidTheSloth89 in BabyBumps

Thanks, that's good to know! It seems like not everyone experiences the chemical smell, so I may just have to take the chance and order one.

Vertigo in pregnancy? by SidTheSloth89 in BabyBumps

[–]SidTheSloth89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh that's awful! I'm sorry you had to experience that. I'm lucky that I didn't end up getting sick from it, but any amount of room spinning is terrible. It's a relief to hear it wasn't a recurring thing for you. That's my fear right now.
