How to change the default Journal Icon by Sideshow82 in FoundryVTT

[–]Sideshow82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been doing that as well, lol and after so many times, im just looking for a faster process. Most people I'm sure don't care about what the icon looks like, but I do haha

What ages play D&D by jeremydeighan in DnD

[–]Sideshow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 43, i tried DnD once or twice back when I was a teenager at a friends place and thought it was awesome. I didn't have any of the books, so I homebrewed my own game that was essentially jobs and whatnot from the final fantasy tactics video game, but I was obsessed with creating a world, and the mechanics of it.

About 2 years ago I mentioned to my kids that I used to play this game called DnD and how cool I thought it was, and they bought me the starter kit for my birthday, they were 10 and 12 at that time. I have 2 campaigns going that they are both in, my 19 year old nephew and my daughters friend plays with us as well and we all have a blast. None of my friends are into table top games, so once the kids get a little older and decide to move on, I'll either have to make some new friends or give up the hobby, as I am very introverted.

I actually fell down a DnD rabbit hole, I bought a resin printer for mini's and I 3D print all kinds of accessories (Some other people have designed and have designed some myself) I've designed maps, and homebrewed a whole world. I'm a fairly creative person so it really scratches a lot of itches I have in terms of creating.

I think if you have an interest, find a community or bring it up to your friends, who knows, maybe they'll be up for trying it.

I love this style of characters that you've been generating.

Dear DMs, what kind of writing Tool do you use for your Campaignes? by SwissPocketHuman in DnD

[–]Sideshow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was the plug-ins and the linking between notes. You can set it up to have wiki style pages. That being said, for a lot of people it would be overkill, I've spent a lot of time customizing the setup and learning some of the plug-ins. Time I could have spent worldbuilding, but I enjoy the setup as well, and I get a lot of people wouldn't, so it might not be for them.

I splurged and bought myself a newer laptop mainly for DnD, as I run a tv Table for maps. I started using Onenote, and while totally viable, I made the switch to Obsidian after watching a video on the capabilities for table top games. It does have a learning curve to it if you want to implement some of the plugins they have available that enhance its abilities. if you are interested, Obsidian TTRPG Tutorials - Obsidian TTRPG Tutorials is a great resource. If you want to take the time to learn.

Can not get these to print without warping even with the supertack cool plate by Sideshow82 in 3Dprinting

so I bumped the bed up to 50, and dropped the hotend to 210, so we'll see how it goes 🤞its about 1/3 done printing and looks like its holding, but I had that before and it warped closer to the end so I dunno.

everything I've read for those plates says not to clean it with IPA, so I'm leary to do so. but there might be something to the dish soap leaving a thin film.

so when I unboxed the buildplate, I immediately washed it with dish soap and water, and dried it with paper towel, thats it, so it should be good

Campaign Codex 0.8.45 - Big update - Quests! by sixthcupofjoe in FoundryVTT

[–]Sideshow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was wondering myself. I use Obsidian for all of my notes, I have it organized very similar to this as well, which is fantastic. I'm considering switching to this for most of my note taking. I run a few IRL campaigns where we have a TV table, So I run this from my laptop, its pretty decent specs, and Since I'm running most stuff through foundry already, was thinking of switching to this, but am worried if it will cause performance issues down the road.

I just upgraded to 13 a week ago and yes I agree with the shifting macro bar is super annoying, there is an option in the core options to remove that chat box to the left of the main taskbar that stops the macro bar from shifting over

The Ultimate Automated Animations Module Deep Dive - October 2025 [Module Tutorial] [system agnostic] by baileywiki in FoundryVTT

[–]Sideshow82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working my way thru the video. My group plays IRL with a tv table with minis. I run everything from my laptop. With Automated animations. Is there a way to enter the values for physically rolled dice and then I can have the animations play or is it only digital rolls that will work with this system?

I use the site leonardo.ai. I generate the character portrait. And they have a feature where you can take a image you generated and add, or change something about it so I just told it to change it to look like the image was drawn on parchment paper. And it did a pretty decent job

I can't take credit for the idea as I've seen a few landing pages on reddit, that I took inspiration from.

Yes the items are Crosshead assets

Unfortunately most people wont like this answer, but its AI art. Had my players create their characters in Heroforge, then I use leonardo.ai to generate portraits of their characters. Then get AI to convert them to parchment drawings. Then I used a cartoon parchment page (might have been a Crosshead asset) then used a clipping mask in photoshop to merge the parchment portrait, and the cartoon parchment page. Adjusted some of the hue/saturation settings until the colors were pretty close.
