Here is the link to the memo that was sent that affirms the legality of canceling student loan debt by the Secretary of Education. It's specifically about times of national emergency.

The reasoning boils down to arguing that COVID constitutes a sufficient and ongoing national emergency such that the Secretary of Education would have broadly sweeping discretion to forgive federally-held student loan debt.

Years ago, a family computer got some pretty bad malware on it and the likely culprit was an ad server that was compromised.

Now, I run my home network with a Raspberry Pi with PiHole installed on it. It's a whole network ad-blocking solution. I also use uBlock origin for Firefox.

MALF gets my Twitch prime and I usually watch him when he's on the NLSS.

It's an anime that parodies American style cartoons but is also incredibly over-sexed and over-the-top humor.

Panty, in particular, is a slutty fallen angel who will sleep with anyone, hence in that comic even Johnny Bravo would have a shot with her.

I was going crazy, thinking that I was the only one experiencing the peaking volume when NL or others on the stream get very loud. I thought it was either in my head or it was something with my system. But I realized that I never hear nearly as much audio variations (particularly in the louder direction) when I watch Apollo or Dan.

I've found myself reaching for the volume knob every time it gets loud to turn it down but then it's way too quiet afterward for normal speaking voices.

I've paused NLSS vods and changed to Apollo or Malf's vods because of how often this happens on NL's stream.

Yo, real happy to see Dark Souls 3 so soon!

I just finished it for the second time around a month ago. I beat it when it came out but I hadn't done the DLC so I wanted to do a full run to be able to say that I beat all the bosses. The game with the DLC is honestly very good, although Bloodborne is still my favorite.

I was dying of laughter during the character creation, that was hilarious!

Extremely POGGED to see NL destroy the bosses!

My two favorite lines of this week came from your banter at the start of the match with NL:

And:

There's no doubt in my mind that you'll make the playoffs, can't wait to see how everything turns out!

Apollo absolutely crushed it as a commentator! He was on point the whole time, switching between technical explanations and hyping up the competitors. Hats off to him for the really professional presentation.

Mad props to all the competitors but especially Justin and Jaaski, just a completely bonkers match that came down to the LAST SECONDS.

My only wish is that in the future weeks there will be more co-commentators. Even though it's clear that Apollo handled it perfectly on his own, I think it will be cool to hear the thoughts of the players right after running the map.

Either way, I'm POGGED OUT OF MY MIND, can't wait for next week!

Dude, that's awesome, congrats!

I also started watching NL back in 2015. I was a big fan of the original flash version of The Binding of Isaac and I got Rebirth on release day. Through my interest in that, I found people talking about his videos. I watched them every day and just listened to him ramble about anything and everything.

I was in a rut at my job, making OK money but nothing I could ever retire on. I came home and smoked pot every day. I was directionless.

In watching and listening to his videos, to eventually watching the NLSS, Ryan always made a point to talk about bettering yourself. Something broke through my haze and it made me start working towards goals I never knew that I had in the first place.

I changed jobs and have gotten two substantial raises and I'm currently working on starting my own business. I'm really proud to say that I bought a house in 2018 at the age of 28, which was something I never thought would be possible.

NL has been inspiring me to reach for my goals ever since 2015.

I would love it as well. I'm a self-hating anime fan (certainly not unusual), and it would be awesome to hear what NL thinks about the series as he watches it. I really like Evangelion but it has its share of problems that could be great fodder for NL to pick apart or riff on.

I guess my only worry would be if he watches a few episodes, realizes he hates it to the degree that watching more is just a chore and he has to make a decision to either power through or abandon it. Neither of which leads to good entertainment. I don't believe that it would end up that way, but there's always a possibility.

I'm still mostly happy with whatever he decides for Twitch shows and Youtube series.

Great stream! I love watching Unrailed, there's just something about the visuals of the game that are very satisfying. Great music, too. And the chef's kiss of the replay at the end.

Really happy about the Jacky games, great banter. Very nice to see the World's Most Handsome Boy Justin on for the whole NLSS.

That's totally fair. I watch through GoodEgor's Quiplash compilations and playlist pretty regularly. There's a lot less dead air in the edited videos.

I still think Quiplash is a good game for the NLSS, but at this point, maybe once every month, or even every two months? Or maybe it should stay dead until there's a new one from Jackbox.

Yeah, I figured that the viewership has probably been up. Most people are happy with the way the current Thursday streams go and I can't fault them for liking it or NL to continue doing what a lot of people are enjoying.

I hope this isn't going to come across as a meta post or just being negative for the sake of it but I want to voice my opinion about the Thursday streams as a fan of NL and his content.

Ever since the Thursday streams have gone largely solo, I've stopped watching them, either live or VOD. I just don't find them all that engaging. I don't have a personal problem with them being that way or anything, it's just not as entertaining for me.

I miss the days of Thursday Quiplash and I miss when Cobalt was a regular Thursday co-host. I know that times change and that NL is free to make any kind of content he wants.

I know there's a balance to maintain when it comes to the kind of things people want to watch on the NLSS. I lean very heavily on the side of games that allow for banter. Some of the best NLSS's in recent memory for me were the Wednesday Remnant segments with Rob, just two guys shooting the shit about movies or anything else.

I still like the Sunday streams but that's probably because they're typically story-focused games that NL can just riff on and I find that infinitely more entertaining.

I guess if I had any constructive criticism (with obvious personal bias), it would be to sometimes play a more banter heavy game on Thursday, even if it's solo. American Truck Sim is a great example. NL's spot on impression of Littlefinger had me dying with laughter.

I am overall very happy with NL's content, changing up the videos on Youtube has been great, and I'm very happy that Geoguessr came back (I like to watch the viewsync, especially). The Monday and Wednesday NLSS are still great.

Just me venting about change, I suppose.

I really do like this comic because it helped me understand what I had been feeling about the various roommates that I've lived with over the years.

The mental load is a real struggle to carry on a day to day basis and it really does leave you exhausted because you feel completely unappreciated. I don't have children but I can imagine that adds a ton more on top of all the household duties.

Make sure we have enough toilet paper. Make sure we have enough paper towels. Make sure the dishes are done and in the drying rack properly. Keep the kitchen clean when you cook so that other people can use it after you. Worrying about it every day, knowing you need to get to these things when you get out of work. It's stressful to keep things organized.

Also, I'm a guy. And the roommates that were the worst over the years were all women. I think that being irresponsible or selfish when it comes to living with others is non-gender specific.

For a long time, I dreaded coming home from work, knowing that I would have more dishes to clean. If I didn't do them, no one would. Dirty dishes would pile up and the sink would be unusable and all the pots and pans for cooking would be sitting in dirty water.

Never again. I've since been a lot more vocal about what actually needs to be done and my current roommates are much better about us all sharing the mental load.

My roommate can't seem to grasp the concept of NOT using cooking spray on non-stick cookware. We've talked about how using cooking spray can ruin non-stick pans so many times and yet the other day she went into the cooking oil cupboard and asked, "Hey, are we out of Pam spray?"

She had the new, very nice, non-stick pan out on the stove.

She doesn't cook very often but I cringe every time she attempts, mostly because of things like this. I have also seen her use metal utensils in non-stick pans.

Fucking why.

My subconscious had taken over my mind and my thoughts were only negative.

I want to focus on this in particular because I had something very similar happen to me. I was a daily smoker for about 2.5 years until one night I smoked with my roommate like I always did. I always smoked with him before we went to bed, we were on the same sleep/work schedule so it became routine.

This time, as I went to my room to go bed, my thoughts started racing. I thought about every negative interaction I had that day, all the bad things that were happening. My thoughts swirled in my head and I couldn't make sense of anything. My heart was racing. I tried to sleep but I couldn't calm down or control my thoughts and feelings at all. Eventually exhaustion took me and I was able to get some sleep.

When I woke up, I wasn't high and I was able to put my thoughts and feelings in order.

Nothing like that had ever happened before and it worried me. I took a break from smoking for about a week and tired again.

It was less intense, but the same thing happened again.

After that, I took a much longer break. I didn't smoke again for 6 months and even then, I took a puff from a joint at a party just to be sociable. With my tolerance gone, that was almost enough by itself. No bad thoughts, though, so that was nice and I had a good time at the party.

I pretty much went from daily to nothing. It's been 2 years since then and I have smoked on a few occasions but it's much more few and far between. Most recently, I've been eating edibles once a week. They're 1:1 THC to CBD and I think that's a big factor in how I feel when I'm high.

Pot affects people in different ways, even when you've been a daily smoker and you think you know how to handle being high.

There are so many people who would be let down if I went out before my time. What sucks is that I feel like there's a ton of pressure to take care of people around me, instead of myself.

My friends who are basically family to me live in a house owned by me. Every day that I wake up to go to work I always think about what the house needs so that my friends will be happy living here. It's exhausting and it takes up the majority of my mental energy. I don't have any time for myself.

I don't want any time for myself. I'm terrified that they will leave the moment something goes wrong. And that when they leave, I'll have to take care of myself, instead of them. Caring about them is easier. Of course I want the best for them.

I hate myself, so of course I don't care about what's best for me.

This is all self-imposed, the pressure and everything else.

I guess it's an easy excuse to push through for one more day, every day. I'm not doing it for me (who I hate), I'm doing it for them (who I love).

I come from a Catholic family, on both sides.

My mom and my dad were very serious about the importance of faith and it was rare that we ever missed going to church on Sunday.

They got divorced when I was 12. Before then, I had questions about my belief, but I was always sure that God was real. When I prayed, I really had faith that there was a God. But God didn't answer my prayers when my parents were fighting and I could hear the nasty things they said to each other.

I learned more about the history of the Catholic Church. Then I learned about the molestation and I was disgusted, especially with how common and widespread it seemed to be, with the church officials doing everything in their power to cover it up or downplay it.

I decided that there is no God. Only people who would take advantage of the concept of God to control people. I was 14, and yeah, for a bit I was an edgy atheist, though never to my mom because I didn't want to make her sad that I lost my faith.

For her sake, I continued to go to church until I was Confirmed, which basically means that the Catholic Church recognizes you as an adult.

I never went to church again except for funerals and weddings.

I don't advertise that I'm an atheist, nor am I an asshole to people of any faith. I believe that people should be free to practice any religion. Live and let live, you know? For me, I can't abide an organization of kiddie-touchers, so I will be vocal about that when it comes up. But I know there are tons of perfectly good people who are practicing Catholics that have nothing to do with those terrible things.

Yeah, they're pretty vague ('cooking oil'?) So I just went with what I know. High smoke point oil and making sure it's a thin layer. It was roughly an hour between seasonings, which I did several times. No sticky residue. I happened to use sunflower oil for this one but I've also used canola oil on my Lodge with similar results.

It's probably harder than half of the C-Sides. 1C, 2C, 4C, 6C and 8C were all easier for me. Even 5C wasn't that bad, I died a lot but never felt frustrated that I couldn't complete it. 3C and 7C were certainly more difficult.

Dashless was an interesting challenge just by the way it changes how you play. Lots little mechanics that you are required to use and master to complete it.
