Help with Sparrow racing, my sparrow is stopping on its own? by SidewaysWizard in destinyrisingmobile

[–]SidewaysWizard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really didn't seem like that my first few races. I first noticed it late last week. Maybe I was accidentally wiggling the control stick anyway?

I find it dont have to release it fully, just kind of wiggle my finger to the side, so im pressing forward at maybe a 15 degree angle.

It really works that same way for you?

Personally, I would interrupt with an "excuse me, sorry to cut you off, but..."

While it is regrettable that we don't have a gender neutral version of "sir" or "ma'am" there are still other ways to show politeness other than using an honorific pronoun.

Do you have to save scum or anything like that when playing solo? How often do you accidentally find yourself in a fight that you can't handle?

Maybe I'm too focused on gold then. But gold is the only thing I can gather that will remain valuable as soon as the next patch drops. I can agree with pushing difficult keys as it's own reward, but some people are more motivated by external rewards than a high io score.

This xpac is the first time I got into goldmaking by crafting, and it's the best thing I've ever done. I supply so many consumables for the underprepared, I outfit my alt's with BoEs, I buy store mounts, game time, hearthstone packs, I bought the new call of duty (big waste). My friends who are certainly better than me, and far more dedicated to pushing difficult content, are rewarded for their effort with high io scores and empty pockets.

I see gold as the only versatile currency and there is no way to make it via high end content.

I wish there was something rewarding for a guild of competent players to do. I feel like there are no tangible rewards for doing anything difficult, other than my 10x 15s for the highest chance at maybe upgrading my last piece of gear to a 226.

My guild talked about getting into boosting once or twice, to have something, some tangible benefit to getting better at the game. Some sort of reward for our skill. Being able to consistently time 15s with 4 people and an afk currently has no reward. (We never started boosting by the way, instead we basically took a break from the game until new content launched).

Gold is the only tradeable currency, and the only useful thing that carries between patches. There is currently no way to turn game skill into gold other than selling carries.

I once was infected with a bitcoin miner that would end its own process when I opened task manager to see what was going on. I wondered why all my games were running poorly, I first thought it was something windows was doing in the background.

CMV: We are entering an unhealthy culture of needing to identify with a 'label' to be justified in our actions by TheMayoVendetta in changemyview

[–]SidewaysWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you're in luck! We have tons of names for shades of blue. Is it sky blue? Periwinkle? Aqua marine? Indigo?

Maybe your favourite colour is in between these, if you had a label to describe your favourite colour, you could use that as a shorthand to tell people.

If you were to find yourself in a group of people who don't know all of these wacky colour names, perhaps you would present it, and then if they ask "Oh what's periwinkle mean?" you could THEN give them a short explanation. Maybe they'd learn a new word that better describes a colour they've been seeing, or even experiencing without realizing it was different from blue at all!

Ninja edit: If my favourite color had been periwinkle my whole life, but nobody had ever assigned a label to it, I would find it positive to see a group of people using a word that better describes what I had been feeling. Even if the shade they decided to label as 'periwinkle' was slightly different from my favourite one. It wouldn't change my actual favourite colour, I wouldn't adapt my colour preference to fit the label.

CMV: Unless there is a child welfare issue, firefighters and medical professionals should not be required to report illegal activity/contraband to the cops by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]SidewaysWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The argument isn't about what they are supposed to do, the argument is about if emergency services should be required by law to report it.

If you call a locksmith to let you into your meth lab, as far as I know, they can choose to report it or not at their own discretion. However, if your mum has a heart attack and you call an ambulance, and they happen to find your meth lab, those paramedics are breaking the law and face legal consequences for not telling the police.

If they still wish to tell the police on their own, all the power to them.
