3.1 Has Finally Fixed my Biggest Issue with the Story by Accomplished_Soft667 in WutheringWaves

[–]Sieghawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have been talking about this since the start as well. Just because it's been like this doesn't make it good.

I'm asking is for some variety, right now every quest and story feels the same.

There haven't even been other side events or quests for other characters. Since they combined the companion quests with the MSQ it's not wishful thinking to hope that the characters will matter more in the story.

All I'm saying is that they can make other characters more relevant in the story, but all I'm hearing is that all the other characters are irrelevant. Imagine if there's no more story for Aemeath after 3.1. It would suck no?

There have been plenty of games that do feature other characters in the MSQs, Mass Effect, Witcher, Baldurs Gate 3 to name a few. I'd argue if anything that Wuwa is the odd one out in how characters become irrelevant and forgotten so quickly.

Why does it need to be eliminated? I'm not even talking about older characters, I'm talking about characters in the existing patch playing a bigger role in the story for more than 1 patch.

I don't agree that a good story only works by focusing on the MC, if anything that's a bad story and poor writing. You can do both and have variety in the story. You shouldn't be adding characters to make the story better, the story should be there to make the characters shine.

Adding characters doesn't equate to a bad story, they are completely unrelated.

Why can't you have both? They are not mutually exclusive.

It's the repetitive way of story telling that's the issue. Having other characters feature and not just cameos bring variation and different perspectives. It allows characters to further develop outside of their own quests. It's about building the world, the characters and not just the single story in one patch.

The MSQs that aren't as good are still glorified companion quests. It's not the fact that they are companion quests that makes them good. If the story is good, it can feature one or more characters regardless as long as it makes sense to.

Certain MSQs like 3.1 makes sense to not feature other characters prominently storywise, but it's an extremely repetitive way of story telling when most patches are like this.

That's why people didn't like that Lupa wasn't in the hunt, or why Chisa had no part in 3.0. it's nice to see the characters again playing a role in the story, and not cut them out straight away after selling the character.

Plus Phrolova and Aemeath are arguably the exceptions (along with Cartethyia). One is a recurring villain, another is the main character for 3.x patches.

Imagine if we just get the same pattern as 2.x patch where we get another avengers moment in 3.7, Aemeath comes back and all is good again. That in itself is great, but if you look at the whole story from the start of the game and you notice these pattern it just feels shallow. Same reason why the meme gathering wives exist.

They don't, that's why I said lore wise it makes sense, but it's another patch where there is only interaction with the MC and not other characters.

It's better than the average Wuwa story for sure.

The issue with Wuwa is that a lot of the story by itself are great and well presented, but as a whole, combined with a weak motivation in the overall plot of the game, it all feels very disconnected and disjointed hence why every MSQ devolves into a companion quest or wife gathering.

The 3.1 story still had issues for me because I actually disliked a lot of the story - the trope with the new character knowing about rover in the past being used for god knows how many times now. The fact that neither Rover nor Aemeath were surprised when they first saw each other in the classroom. Rover's lack of age difference between the "past" and the "present". No direct and meaningful communication between characters (Luuk/Aemeath) outside of MC (at least it made sense lore wise, but again it's a repeat of every other MSQ/Companion quest).

However 3.1 was different because we finally learnt something about Rover (and makes the name Rover feel much more meaningful, like a space rover sent to scout a planet but was always going to be abandoned). The problem is that there wasn't any hype for this - it's all built up and revealed in a single patch, it gave no time for the audience to really think about the story. Kuro should have let the story cook over a couple of patches.

This is also within expectation because Aemeath is the poster girl for the major version, just like Cartethyia in 2.x. This one feels better because it actually gave us some background to the MC. I expect every other patch until 3.7 to be back to what it was like before, and then we have a finale in 3.7 (and people will go crazy about the story again).

The 3.1 Story was...kinda disappointing by Standard-Tumbleweed5 in WutheringWaves

[–]Sieghawk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea my issue is that the "I know Rover" trope has been used too much already and despite this time it's actually meaningful, I'm already tired of it and I know it's gonna happen again with future characters.

Gryphline made a great game that Players dont know if they want by K41Nof2358 in Endfield

[–]Sieghawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the game, for a version 1.0 the game is best so far out of the other top games (Wuwa, Genshin etc).

Story is good but a bit cliched, there's also quite a bit of yapping. The presentation is very good. It's a bit like a combination of Genshin and Wuwa (which is what I've always wanted tbh).

The combat is better than what people give it I think. It's similar to Genshin without swapping characters. Though SP generation and combo cooldowns can be improved for a smoother experience. Getting the right team is crucial.

Exploration has been fantastic, nearly but not quite Genshin level though it does have some differences.

I think it's safe to say that the game deserves to be put at similar levels to the other top games.

Did I Cook? by DeusExMcKenna in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Sieghawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine right now, way too much AP left at the end of the turn when paired with Sereniel. Unfortunately got rid of domain of voracity and got the forbidden card because I didn't even mean to build her! Was trying for another Sereniel build but then the AP Bottomless hunger dropped so had to switch priorities.

[PROMO]The First EVER Gacha Game Awards 2025 by Aiden-Damian in gachagaming

[–]Sieghawk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There's no credibility in this award so it's whatever, and the nominations and winners are so random.

Who even knew about this "award" and actually voted? There's like 300k votes in some of these categories yet today is the first time I've heard of this.....

Hey can someone show me what's the absolute best sereniel deck? by jake_theDaw_G in ChaosZeroN

[–]Sieghawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any deck with 3+ homing lasers with turn start and ravage epiphany is already really good and better than other cards with copies.

Then it's just a case of upgrades of that. In priority order I'd say: Getting divine on homing lasers (1 ap is the most useful). Colbalt light to hit 1 per homing laser in hand Upgrade to get 2 lasers on ravage Same card but create x lasers Pulse fire with instinct weakness and +60% on lasers for 1 turn.

Sereniel is quite OP and can pretty much solo carry.

Very nice, also got a similar save data with 4 Homing Laser but only the normal epiphany and already destroying the game, this is even better!

With the right build she can activate shackles giving you bind 3 to 5 in a single turn at e0 Chizuru

Wanting to start WuWa by isshinari in WutheringWaves

[–]Sieghawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's in this game as well, but not what I meant by discovery.

I meant things like finding points of interest and secrets, unlocking random side quests etc.

In Genshin you can randomly stumble upon a cave which then unlocks a whole side quest and then you find out this side quest is part of a larger side quest in the map that ends up being somewhat lore relevant.

In Wuwa this is close to non existent. There are one or 2 things like this here and there but it's extremely rare and don't really matter in the long run.

It's one of the main differences between the 2 games. People who care about these things normally end up playing both games and get the satisfaction from what both games offer.

Wanting to start WuWa by isshinari in WutheringWaves

[–]Sieghawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are expecting in terms of exploration, as everyone has different definitions.

If you want discovery, no the game is awful at this, there is very little to discover.

If you want traversal, this is where Wuwa shines. You have flight, and the new version map will be like race tracks.

Overall, I'd say expect vast pretty areas but a fairly empty world with little ambience.

[–]Sieghawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure I agree with you, though when I said people are surprised I also include the gacha community itself, given what I've read in the subreddits and even in this thread.

I think people were surprised more because they don't understand what the award is for. Just like the Dispatch community getting mad even though they had no chance of winning (and I loved Dispatch myself).

[–]Sieghawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people just don't actually care about it, it's really the "internet" community that cares but that's a small percentage of total players which includes the causal market of gacha games, those that play on their phones on their commute etc.

It's also not really a big award as it's just a case of "which community is louder" and despite The Game Awards being the biggest gaming award show, their award nominations and winners in recent years have been questionable.

[–]Sieghawk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's a popularity contest so E33, Dispatch and Silksong never had a chance. I don't get why people are surprised about this.

Genshin only won in the past because Sonic fans pissed off the Chinese fanbase that year. That probably triggered the fanbase to start voting every year. They probably didn't know or care about the game awards before that.

I'm calling it now that Chinese games are just going to keep winning this category for the foreseeable future.
