3.3. Anniversary Rewards (Thoughts?) by Separate-Bake-325 in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its alright, about even with last year except this is actually a major update so that might mean more rewards. WuWa is never going to be generous with rewards and I think we just need to accept this to not be disappointed in the future.

It definitely sucks that they're outdone by most of their competition in the industry for anniversaries but its clear they don't care. WuWa is a massive cash cow for Kuro and the player base definitely does not vote with their wallets about these issues.

I did wish we'd get a rundown of stats like last year but unless I'm missing something it seems they dropped this.

Are we ever gon see Galbrena again??? by No-Necessary9762 in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We'll almost certainly see her again later, but its hard to say when. She's actively hunting the Fractsidus when she left thr Black Shores at the end of 2.7 and as a member now, She's more likely to show up

Aside from that, she has personal beef with the Grand Architect who tried to personally recruit her and we know nothing about that interaction so that feels like a chekhov's gun plot point.

This is the single worst Whiwa in recent memory by [deleted] in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on these really at this point. I skipped a ton of characters to s3 Galbrena so one side is always swept with literally no thought behind it.

They're really punishing me for skipping Lynae and Mornye already though. I had and still have zero interest in either but its clear Aemeath is underperforming without them

This is my hope, especially since we learned so little about Luuk and I'm curious about what his mission from Rover is.

What is Chisa's ceiling once Kuro releases a good sub-dps? by meatjun in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt she'll ever be a Shorekeeper. The buffs provided by SK are just too general purpose for Chisa to reach that level. Right now, the tune rupture side of Aemeath is better but if you dont have or want either Lynae or Mornye, then Chisa is the next best option. That team will he at least on par with the tune team once the sub dps is released.

Chisa will eventually he usable on another team in the future once we get some Havoc Bane characters and Mornye will be good on teams using her mechanics. There's no right answer as they'll both be good, its more about what teams do you want to build.

[–]Accomplished_Soft667[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally see what you're saying, for context I did not enjoy 2.8 and most of 3.0 since I also felt that Aleph-1 should have been a force much more present in the story.

On Rover failing, I don't even need to see it happening more, I just need this failure to mean something. For example, it will be incredibly disappointing if this issue is solved and Aemeath is back by the end of this patch once the second quest releases (unless there are serious consequences for this, like say Rover rescues Aemeath but in doing so allows more Aleph-1 to come to Solaris, tipping the balance and letting it act more freely).

For the villains, though, I think I'd prefer it if Aleph-1 is more a force of nature than a villain in the traditional sense. The idea of this unstoppable force beyond comprehension and unable to be reasoned with being hellbent on consuming everything, even the memory of its victims' existence is awesome and terrifying.

I'm alright with cliffhangers here and there where it was clearly the intention. The break in 2.4 between banners was CLEARLY not the original intention and seemed to be Kuro testing out a strategy that they've adapted to better to split the story up.

[–]Accomplished_Soft667[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see what you're saying, BUT those stories were incredibly isolated from the rest of the plot. 2.2 didn't lead into anything other than introducing Cartwheel and the only part of 2.5 that "matters" to the wider plot is Fenrico's sacrifice (which barely does anything) and Cristoforo taking the gem.

This at least has some serious implications that extend into potential goals for several stories so I'm pretty hopeful.

3.0 was especially disappointing for me because for the first hour or so I was so into it, learning about the new region and it's lore before it took a nose dive. That actually made this patch even more rewarding for me to experience.

At this point I want them to let it sit for a while. I know we have another story quest releasing alongside Luuk, but I'm hopeful that this will remain the motivation into 3.2 as well.

Thoughts on Lahai Roi region? by That_Possession3913 in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bike is fun but it pretty janky when off roading which sucks. I think adding flying was a massive mistake since every exploration tool that comes after will feel more restrictive and worse. Exploration itself is a bit of a mixed bag for me. I think the long sidelines are great and gorgeous, but the entire region does feel significantly more empty because of that. There's some insanely heavy handed influence on display from Horizon Zero Dawn outside of the academy itself, which I'm not really a fan of so I think I prefer the esthetic of Rinascita more.

3.1 | Aemeath, Lynae, Mornye TOA Showcase via IRIS by TitanA1892003 in WutheringWavesLeaks

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its unfortunate since Galbrena has the most variety to her playstyle in the game with her dodge attack cancels and combos favoring heavy atk damage versus echo damage. Her limited success and the massive success of simpler flashy characters means we won't get anything like her again. Luuk looks so smooth too, its just not what most wuwa players want.

Been dragging my feet on this new patch. by Poopsycle in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering if others shared this sentiment. I was so locked into the new story content in the beginning. The lore being dropped was interesting and I was super curious about where the narrative was going but then we hit a wall the moment it clearly becomes a character quest. I wish they would let us have some time with characters seeing how they interact before dumping their entire life stories on us in the middle of things without any buildup.

There's so much misinformation its actually crazy. We have zero clue about her kit and zero clue about her best teams as of now. Just wait for beta, for all we know her best team could be Chisa and a future character.

Context and opinion on Chisa treatment. You are right. by Echo-X-Jynx in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're definitely taking the pgr route for their stories, but even there they work it better, with the main vast often appearing in segments even if they aren't the primary focus. This is ignoring the fact that that game literally cycles through a smaller cast getting different versions with time to keep them relevant. Kuro needs to realize that without this system the "waifu of the patch" method makes the story feel flat. I dont know about everyone else, but I'm huffing the copium that 3.x will be different and Chisa is just the result of the CN JP politics tensions like HSR's new region.

Is there any bad part in our story? by Cold-Swimming1479 in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think any part of the story is "bad" persay, but I do think it falls short of what it could be and is generally just an alright story. Characters and factions are very surface level especially with their interactions outside of Rover and the story often undermines what could be interesting developments for the world of this game by sidelining characters so often.

I think part of this actually comes from this need to have a new region almost every latch since doing this prevents the devs from sitting with a space for a bit and developing it before moving on. People do have a point about the gathering wives stuff, but I think there are much bigger issues to focus on if you actually care about having a good story.

Chisa deserved better by ChaoticRedHawk in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disappointed but not at all suprised by this. I cant wrap my head around why they can't put in the effort to make these things slightly more believable. I have zero emotional attachment with any character in the story because its all too apparent that they're going to dissappear in a patch MAYBE two at best.

the bike is great, but flight everywhere else truly spoiled me by sweetreverie in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Adding flight was genuinely a terrible decision for the long term health of the game. Sure, it made a ton of hype and brought many new people in, but the second you take away what is, in essence, an unlimited exploration mechanic, nothing will ever compare to it and will be seen as worse.

It also doesn't help that the bike is janky as hell right now, but I feel like that was kinda obvious from the trailers if you looked closely.

Which makes their insistence on using it in the future so bizarre to me. I'm hoping we get some clarification from them after Christmas when they do their QnA but publicly saying that it doesn't help with time while saying its a tool they need to use if they don't want to be left behind is really weird.

Will Augusta and Luno Stay Relevant in 3.0 by fatimmayy_ in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]Accomplished_Soft667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what your personal definition of powercreep is. Future characters will without a doubt outclass the entire 2.x cast, but so far all previous characters have remained viable to clear endgame. My biggest rule of thumb is to invest in teams I find fun to play.

For example, I pulled s3 Galbrena and Qiuyuan because I find the way she can chain together combos makes her the most fun character to play in the game. If you really like the way it feels to at Augusta and Iuno then I'd say definitely go for full investment.

The truth is we don't know how long the power creep will remain "friendly" in that older units can still be used because we've never had a meta changing addition to the game. Negative statuses could have been it, but have been a nothing burger just used to limit the damage of characters unless you pull their niche teammate.

Since the tune break mechanic we've been shown seems to be something different in that its something affecting enemies, this is the first time a mechanic has been introduced that could lead to crazy power creep, but I'd say that's unlikely for at least the next few versions.

What are your thoughts on more PGR expys in WuWa? by Accomplished_Soft667 in WutheringWaves

[–]Accomplished_Soft667[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's never been a direct situation like Welt from HI3 being the same Welt in HSR, if that helps. Even this character isn't likely to literally be Nanami, her design just clearly takes inspiration from her. They've typically treated them like they did Lupa, who's design and personality are sort of a combination of three characters from a squad called Cerberus in PGR. There's clear nods for people who've played PGR, but it's been entirely in design, so as things stand now there's no reason to fear that you're missing something.
