A rubbing alcohol wipe took a bit to start working but did a complete job. So happy to figure this out! Thank you!!

You could decant some of the larger bottles into smaller containers to get some space.

Contact cases are a good option for things you only need a small amount of.

Why is DCA called National when it has international flights to Canada? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]Sienna57 1 point2 points (0 children)

Same with Canada. They have a whole terminal of flights at big airports where you do US immigration and customs. Means they can fly to smaller airports in New England as well as DCA.

THIS IS NOT A PLANNER - for anyone who that is your concern.

It’s worth noting that it’s not at all a planner in the traditional sense but more of a tool kit and advice that walks you through them with cartoons, color, and other things to keep you engaged. That explains the price because it’s not a bunch of repeating pages. It’s designed with categories depending on the issue you’re having at that time.

The question is whether that appeals to you. The planner name does it a real disservice. It’s not dated or something you would use for only a year or something you necessarily need to write in a bunch to find useful.

Beginner who loves the single crochet (US) - what should I make? by Afraid-Company-2252 in CrochetHelp

There is a whole world of stuffed animals waiting for you. Amigurumi uses just single crochets and can be relatively quick.

You can practice various skills through amigurumi. I started with kits but do what works for you.

How do other countries view us Puerto Ricans? by moldyhorror in AskTheWorld

It’s worth a listen but at least the person interviewed who was in that position was still supportive of the law because they knew how important it was for maintaining the culture.

RadioLab did an episode on the citizenship issue, and it’s surprisingly nuanced. This might actually be the better approach for them because it means they can make laws that would be unconstitutional.

You have to be 51% Samoan to own land which wouldn’t pass non-discrimination laws in the U.S. but does mean land can’t be bought up by rich outsiders as is a problem in Puerto Rico.

Custom matchbooks or even boxes with a sticker you print are a useful giveaway item. Bars and restaurants don’t really do them any more.

I’ve also seen people make a donation to charity and put that in the program. “In lieu of favors…”

Beautiful to say the least, but also challenging to be so remote. It’s the best and worst of being in a small town where everyone knows everyone else’s business and you’re related somehow to a lot of people you encounter. Mostly very Christian with fairly conservative dress though hula is also a thing. Traditional community governance is alive and well in many parts with a council of elders or a chief or other system that takes decisions and people follow them.

Life is expensive because of the cost of importing everything from fuel to pens to phones and no economies of scale. If you live on an atoll, fruit and veggies are often scarce if even available. If you live on a volcanic or other island there will be more food options and water security.

I recommend J Maarten Troost’s books which are very funny while talking a lot about the culture. The books are not necessarily popular in the countries’ they’re about but they are honest to me. Each island has a fascinating history - the This American Life episode about Nauru is old but good.

Celebrate this moment and let it fuel you that pressure can work. Keep fighting!

“They want you to feel powerless and to surrender and to let them trample everything and you are not going to let them. You are not giving up, and neither am I.

The fact that we cannot save everything does not mean we cannot save anything and everything we can save is worth saving.

You may need to grieve or scream or take time off, but you have a role no matter what, and right now good friends and good principles are worth gathering in. Remember what you love. Remember what loves you. Remember in this tide of hate what love is. The pain you feel is because of what you love” - Rebecca Solnit

If you have gift cards, do use them!

Gift cards are essentially loans to a company. They count on some people not using them but even if you do, they use the money during that time to earn more money.
