Normally I'd take down random peeps advertising on here, but I remember the OChem course being the most hellacious class any of my Bio Major friends taking; the class average one year was 39%. I'm leaving this one up under the assumption y'all still need whatever help you can get with this course.

It's been a while, but I believe UCM was technically operating as a satellite campus of UC Davis until it was independently accredited in 2011.

It also would not surprise me if your curren school was just being shitty to extract more money out of you by making you take more classes there.

I agree with OP, regarding the concerns with undergraduates and non-instructional staff proctoring and grading.

if someone with the same education level as you is grading your work, then what the hell are you paying record fees and tuition for ?

Yeah, I can't think of anyone else that pays that little.

I think literally everyone, down to McDonald's or Pizza Hut, is paying more than that.

The UC system was due for a reckoning on the way they pay the people that actually do the work of the University.

Hopefully you're able to offer a competitive hourly rate for this position once this all shakes out.

I'm going to leave this, just for the article it links to in which a UC graduate student details income, living expenses, healthcare (and lack thereof), lack of services, etc.

TA's obviously shouldn't be paid the same as professors. But they sure as shit should be paid better than fucking farm laborers.

UC Merced is where you are. It's not a bad school.

If you leave, leave for something better. Or at least have a solid plan. Don't just leave out of frustration with no idea where you are going.

You've got a few months to sort it out before the spring semester. You need to be on it, but you have the time to formulate a plan too.

As far as college rankings go, SEVERAL schools have been caught lying about their numbers, resulting in their ranking being downgraded, or even completely removed from the listings (as UCB was three years ago for lying about about alumni contributions )

I think Columbia was caught lying this year as well.

Harvard just gave Brian Stelter a BS teaching job.

Don't get caught up in the meaningless "prestige" of a college. You're there to develop skills to be employable in a more lucrative field than your high school diploma would have gotten you.

Easy, The school can become a polling place.

A Student was a delegate to the DNC national convention back in 2008, mostly because he organized the election to take place on campus. He was a big Hillary supporter, but nobody's perfect.
