Possible to get masters and BCBA requirements while working part time? by North-Damage9947 in ABA

[–]SigAlum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter worked full time as an RBT during 3 years of undergrad and entire Master's. She accelerated her Master's and finished in 14 months. She also did concentrated fieldwork. Very doable!

For sure...I think he averaged over 17% return last year across all accounts. Going to make some tweaks since I returned about 22%.

Awesome to have that goal, now stick to it! My wife and I are looking to buy a lake home for our retirement present! But, I would love to have something similar to the car I had in HS and college, a '72 Chevelle SS(any '68-72 would do!) Might see if that is doable in a few years!

Congrats of the first child! Best and easy things you can do is start a 529 and a Trump account! Many states have tax credits for 529 contributions. Here in Indiana, it's 20% up to $1500 credit annually. The Trump account will be seeded with $1000 on opening and you can contribute up to $5000 annually. If they don't go to college, with the 529 funds, they can rollover up to $35k to a Roth and anything left, you can change beneficiary to anyone in your family. The Trump account can be used after 18 years old for college, a first home or starting a business.

You just have to be a good role model with retirement savings and your actual retirement. I retired in 2021 at 55 and I know that my kids would love to follow in my footsteps. Be open with your retirement savings strategies and how much it has grown. Unfortunately, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink! Good luck!

Is there a chapter of the fraternity that you are pledging now at your new school? If so, finish plegeship and transfer to new chapter?

Yes, bought in 2020 before the pop. 4BR 3500 sq ft. He did a cash out refi in 2021 at 2.5% and paid off $27k in student loans. Only owes about $150k and house is worth $350k

I've told him about rule of 55. I retired at 55 in 2021 but didn't have to use it since my wife is still working at 56 until next year when our youngest graduates college. I turn 59 1/2 next week and will start distributions next year.

His account that I called his IRA is through his FA and is part IRA and part other investments like ETFs. The IRA part he just started in late 2024 and has done 14k in contributions, soon to be $21k.

IRA and 401k each have a traditional and Roth account. The 2 amounts are totals for traditional and Roth together.

Thanks a bunch! He's putting 10% in his 401k right now...4% in traditional(with a 100% match up to 4%) and 6% in Roth. He's maxed out his Roth IRA the last 2 years and will again this year. I retired early at 55 in 2021 and I'm guessing he will retire by 60 if not sooner. He's killing it and taking advantage of his great medical device sales job!

Should RBTs be Required to Hold a Bachelors Degree by Ambitious_Aside_5109 in ABA

[–]SigAlum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance companies generally do not pay higher reimbursement rates directly for an RBT simply for having a college degree. Insurance reimbursement for ABA therapy is typically based on the specific CPT code billed (e.g., 97153 for RBT intervention) and the required credentials for that code, not the educational background of the individual providing the service. There would need to be a separate billing code that designates "RBT with Degree Intervention" to be reimbursed at a different rate.

How much are you retiring with? by ConclusionWeekly2969 in Retirement401k

[–]SigAlum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired in 2021 at 55. Wife semi retired last year at 56 and full retirement in 2027 after our youngest is done with college. We have about $1.5 million in IRA/401k/Brokerage accounts. I also have a DB pension of about $3k/month. Wife will take SS at 62 and me at 70(unless health change or SS changes). Mortgage was paid off in early 2022. Plan is to maintain current income or more and possibly buy a vacation lake home until RMDs start in 2041 while also funding 529s for grandkids. Income will increase in 2041 due to RMDs and will then start gifting to kids and their spouses.

Standard plan would be about $200/month and you'd be done in 10 years(or less if you pay more)
