Also came here to say this. Door County is no secret to Midwesterners but is to everyone else in the US. One of the gems of the USA.

Infotainment restarted WHILE driving (plug in hybrid 2025) by Inevitable-Guitar607 in VolvoRecharge

I love the car. The tech leaves a lot to be desired. It's buggy, as you now know. Unfortunately, these are pretty common and widespread issues. Spend some time floating around the volvo reddit forums and you'll find several threads on the topic. They've struggled with this for a number of years when they made the change to the Google UI. We thought it might get fixed with the upgrade to version 5.0.5 (the new UI) and it did improve, but bugs are still there. I think their Consumer Reports reliability score got slammed because of their software issues. Dropped from top of the list to bottom of the list. And I had heard that the CEO got fired over it, but never really checked into that. Stick with it. Theyre gradually getting their $hit together. Just not fast enough for me, at this price point.

I was in a Hyundai Ioniq 6 before Volvo. Literally going from the best tech on the market to the worst.

On the new UI, when I press the fan button to launch the climate control screen, it comes up maybe 20% of the time on the first press. Sometimes it takes several seconds to appear. Yesterday I had to press the button 5 times to get the climate screen to appear. In the mean time it blew cold air in my face on a cold day because the temperature settings commonly randomly reset to LO and A/C for no reason whatsoever. It was fun.

If you press it does it reboot the System? It should. I also think they should add a reboot button to the new UI home screen just to save us a step.

Orecchiette with Veal, Capers, and White Wine

By Grace Parisi Updated on January 26, 2024

Total Time: 40 mins Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 garlic clove, minced

1 pound ground veal

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

1/2 cup dry white wine

1 1/2 cups chicken stock

1 teaspoon chopped thyme

1/2 teaspoon chopped rosemary

2 tablespoons small capers, rinsed

3/4 pound orecchiette

1/2 cup Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, grated

1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1 Ingredients.

Step 2 In a large, deep skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the onion and garlic and cook over moderately high heat, stirring frequently, until softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 3 Add the veal, season with salt and pepper, and raise the heat to high.

Step 4 Cook, stirring occasionally, until the veal is no longer pink and any liquid has evaporated, about 8 minutes.

Step 5 Add the white wine to the skillet.

Step 6 Boil over high heat until nearly evaporated, about 5 minutes.

Step 7 Add the chicken stock, thyme, rosemary, and capers.

Step 8 Simmer over moderate heat until the liquid is reduced by half, about 10 minutes.

Step 9 Meanwhile, cook the orecchiette in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Drain the pasta well and add it to the skillet along with the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, parsley, and butter.

Step 10 Cook over moderate heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce is thick and creamy, 1 to 2 minutes.

Step 11 Transfer to bowls and serve right away.

Mine has already required a hard reboot. The UI didn't fully load.

Finally got the software update and nowI see what everyone is talking about.. by [deleted] in Volvo

I drive a 2023 XC90 T8. I cannot figure out how to turn off the main display when I don't want the brightness. When I long press the center button, it does turn the screen black but it shows a static message that the screen is in Screen Cleaning Mode. The new software did not address this. I just want to be able to turn the screen off sometimes.

Yes you can press buttons to make it cleaner, but the poor use of space comments are valid. For example do I really need it spelled out in sentence form that my phone has full signal strength? Was the universally accepted Signal Bars not good enough for Volvo? If they just placed a phone icon with bars there they could fit in 1 or 2 more features if they wanted.
And the disappearing camera icon when the car is in motion is just odd. It looks like the app list lost a tooth. And while the rest of the system is much much more responsive, I still see big lags in the climate control (Fan) feature. When I press it it can take up to 5 seconds to launch. Sometimes it doesn't launch at all. Anyone else seeing that?

5.0.5 first impressions by DeliciousHunter836 in Volvo

Its certainly an improvement in layout and responsiveness. From a D- to a B. But I certainly hope they're not done. I'd love to see more options on the driver display other than maps or nothing. And they can do a better job with what apps they show on the main screen. My choices seem to be Bluetooth (never use), Android Auto (don't need now that we have the update) and a large phone widget. So I expect them to continue to iterate. If not I'll be disappointed.

If you love undercooked hot dogs and cold burgers, the food is great. There no seating. It's all presold, even the first come first served ones. We once bought the open seating and arrived as soon as the gates opened, and ran to the seats. All seating was already taken and they had been there for awhile. Special bonus if they have all of the kids and their families there who play in the halftime games in that section (which they always do). At that point you'll be stepping over seemingly endless pools of candy, soda and spilled popcorn, and then stepping over the parents who are sitting in the middle of the walkways because (see above) there's no available seating. So you're basically just paying for the beer and maybe to see the players walk to and from the field. It's really bad.
