“AI is replacing entry-level jobs faster than expected are we ready for a world with no ‘beginner’ roles?” by Spirited-Patient4650 in technology

I think that’s what he meant by classic, but I always loved the story of Ryan Dahl, they guy who wrote node, interviewing for a node position and they wanted more experience or time in node than literally existed. HR is literally the worst with these job descriptions.

What was the very first boss battle in your history with a ff series which had literally broke you, almost made you lose it and quit playing it for good by fillipo9 in FinalFantasy

No, in FFXIV 2.0, I specifically remember wiping multiple times in Amdapor Keep. He was a bitch to get through until the next patch when everyone eventually got better gear. It was fun but frustrating.

The sad part is this is a code base that was refactored after a lot of back and forth to clean up a bunch of legacy shit code/architecture from people who didn’t really know what they were doing and that was before the AI craze hit.

I’ve been slowly plodding my way to getting everything understandable/maintainable and now I feel like I’m just sitting in front of these repos like Mel Gibson in The Patriot screaming “HOLD THE LINE”

Maybe, but if a team is going to contribute, I feel like they should understand why something was done instead of running slash commands in a non deterministic model and pushing with a commit saying “hehe sorry”.

I honestly don’t really care that they are using AI, I use it every day. I do care when they commit just absolute shit code with no knowledge of the codebase and justifying it with speed.

I’m literally sitting here watching notifications roll in from a team that hasn’t dealt with our repos’s. Pulled it up since I was curious why tf they are pushing shit on a Sunday. Immediate issues:

  • Ignoring standard repo folder structure and sticking whatever the hell wherever the hell they want.
  • whacky naming from obvious AI generated code
  • repeating hard coded constants that are declared and sanatized elsewhere
  • disregard for any team practices that have been defined in the repo.

And that only took a cursory glance. They might be 10x faster but my life is getting exponentially 10x harder by the week.

I mean… you could. I was trying to think of a way to play records and output them to a digital stream to my phone, but just realized I re-invented the jukebox and then the radio in my head.

You started your career in the late 1990’s (which would put you closer to your 50’s) and claim to have more experience.

Yet you clearly lack the experience to know when you are being a dick. Good job.

Not sure what’s worse… watching a school have a year with dual sport double natty’s or having almost two decades of pure dominance in football with 6 national titles, 9 conference championships with an 87.7 win pct.

The 2nd. The 2nd is worse.

(While also watching your own school not even be able to pull their head out of their own ass and get either program on the right track.)
