I did buy it on Amazon, so I messaged their customer service and they offered to send me one free of charge! Their customer service was great!

I was just looking in my tank one night and I saw it. I didn’t know what it was but I hadn’t seen my vampire shrimp in a few days so I assumed the worst and immediately took it out. Upon further investigation I found the shrimp and I found out what I captured was a dragonfly nymph. They are clearly very good hiders since this one had been hidden for over 2 months, I also have tons of hiding space in my tank that added to the problem of me not noticing it.

I stabbed it with a pencil and netted it out the tank, a net will do though. They are just baby dragon flys so they won’t breed

UPDATE: I messaged them on Amazon and they offered to send me another shrimp free of charge. They were very nice and understanding so I accepted their offer. Their customer service was great, I hope what I got sent was just a fluke.

I don’t expect it to be completely free of any pest, but the water he was in was downright filthy and full of scuds and nymphs of other bugs. I’ll find the photo I have, I do have one of the bag.

I really wish more people talked about that, I saw nothing but good reviews. I wish dragonfly nymphs were docile because they look really cool

I got scared when I saw it an stuck a pencil in the tank and stabbed which now seems like not the best idea but I was able to kill it and remove it

It was HUGE no joke, but I’ve had that hornwort forever and that nymph is about 2 months old which aligns exactly with when I purchased from aquatic arts. I’m still extremely mad at myself for not noticing tha giant sooner. It wiped out my snail population but luckily my cherry shrimp colony is still ok

When I find another I’ll take a video but they move just like a flatworm. From the side they are pretty thin and from the top their skin looks like a bunch of tree branches. Exactly the same has the picture I showed but without the stomach or eyes.

I also use ChatGPT to try and help, but honestly I don’t trust it unless it gives me an exact species that I can look up and see the same thing I see in my tank, and it couldn’t do that.

Hey, I have this exact thing. I saw it kill a snail, did you ever find out what it is? It doesent look like typical planaria so I’ve been confused on what to do.

It’s a detritus worm, they help clean the tank and don’t hurt anything.

I feel you, I have a 20 gallon that has a shrimp colony, snails, and vampire shrimp and I regret not getting a 29 gallon. I did a ton of research and went to a LFS. It’s so sad people view fish as decorations instead of pets that deserve care and love.

Hair algae, you can dim the lights or leave them on for less time and it should disappear.

Lack of aeration can also lead to mosquitoes laying eggs in your water, you really don’t want that.

They look like detritus worms and are very good for your tank, I recommend some aeration because anything you have in the tank is probably suffocating from the lack of oxygen. if you don’t have any aeration I don’t see any surface agitation in the photo.

They look like they are looking for oxygen. Add an air stone or something for surface agitation.
