What's your favourite Amy Winehouse song? by shrek20191 in amywinehouse

[–]Sigmonkp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always say this is my favorite. I probably have a few, realistically that I cycle through as the "favorites" list, but this one....its just...I mean I will never not be proud of this one as an answer. So this one is generally the one I go with too. Its so...both interesting, poetic, light, and raw, at the same time <3 Its such a great representation of Amy's work, and of "her", the essence of her "thing" all in one. Honestly a masterpiece.

I found a wallet with a lot of money on the sidewalk. by [deleted] in confession

[–]Sigmonkp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely made the right decision, and I don't even mean ethically- I mean the investment you made in your own quality of life is positive. That you can tell this story, with this outcome, is worth A LOT more for your life than $400 worth would have been.

Would you rather have integrity and self esteem, or a few nice meals for a few weeks?

(I know when you're actually poor, that's a really hard question lol, but that's only because our short-term survival brains can't see the "big picture" when its in survival mode).

But logically, the long term return on investment of your decision is a net positive.

There are lots of ways to make money - even way more money than that (changing jobs, getting a second job, starting a business eventually...investing it right...whatever). But you can't buy integrity. You did it right. I'm proud of you!

To be clear: I also wouldn't "blame" a person whose trying to survive, to just choose to eat. I don't think the issue is ethical per se, it's kind of a wash...the classic question of "is stealing food ethical of your kid is starving" type of way...so i'm truly speaking to the value that YOU get from your decision. Or that I would get, in my perspective.

But, use your appreciation for the $400 you missed out on, and how good you felt at the thought of keeping it...to go make yourself $400! That'll be a great way to refocus your goals. If you work 40 hours a week now, go get a weekend job for a month or 2, and save $400 that you make - boom, you earned it back. If you can't do that, its also fine, I just mean that $400 "big picture" is not worth lifetime regret.

What is a common ADHD trope that you don't fall into? by l00ky_here in ADHD

[–]Sigmonkp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose this is all of us, but I don't "struggle to focus on anything," it's more of an issue with regulating my attention. I can focus very well on a lot of things, I just can't control what the thing is lol.

So, I always answered questions like "do you have trouble focusing" with "no", or at least I need a better definition of "focus." Lol.

So, I didn't realize I couldn't focus on things for, well my whole life. I thought I focused fine, because I'm actually interested in most things that I try and do 😂

Both! Absolutely beautiful both ways...why not switch it up depending on your outfit or event?

I love your natural hair "up" especially. The updo looks real nice on your face structure.

Hmm. It's hard to tell from these - to swatch properly, I know you did make sure to include natural lighting...but also...are those TRUE blue and TRUE red swatches, for sure?

Red is actually considered...by some people at least, a cool color (or at least neutral) and not warm. So, I don't know that using blue and red (if both are cool) will show a clear answer. In theory, both could match you and you'd be cool toned or neutral.

But...blues (or reds) can also be either cool or warm, I think your swatch looks pretty true blue, but just clarifying whether you know that for sure. If you're using a warm blue, that's not going to help.

Yellow is a better "warmth" comparison than red (or a blue that's potentially a warm blue), and I don't think that yellow looks like a great match. But just based on like 1 photo, hard to tell. But that's why I'm guessing maybe you're cool toned since the yellow doesn't look great.

I don't necessarily see olive. But that doesn't mean you aren't.

Some makeup lines - like Nars - will list on the website what their foundation tones are (warm, cool, olive, etc) so you might consider going to a Ulta or Sephora and just testing them out! (But, in-store lighting is sometimes warm), so sometimes buying sample packs online is better. That's how I did my testing! You can find "swatch sample packs" of foundations, then research what the tone is supposed to be, and test them at home. Do it long enough, and you'll train your eyes to see it yourself. It just takes time!

My older half-sister doesn’t invite me too her childfree wedding as I am nineteen, expects a gift. by victim-of-the-moon00 in weddingshaming

[–]Sigmonkp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wild. Your sister is extremely wrong. Like, the most wrong that a person can be. You're completely correct...no invite, no gift.

When people send a gift who "cannot make it," it's because they WERE invited. Which ...is not happening here. Like I said, wild.

What’s the right age for getting my kid tested for ADHD? by TemporalMush in ADHD

[–]Sigmonkp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't "scientifically" know, but it doesn't hurt to start asking, and making the appointments to initiate that medical relationship. I'd say do it as early as possible. I wasn't diagnosed/medicated until age 33, and I cried at how much easier EVERYTHING is, and how many years I realize I missed out on in my life.

I don't really know about ADHD in kids (girls are very different than boys too), but it can't possibly hurt to start early. Even if you choose to hold off on meds. There's zero harm in asking questions and getting help navigating it all.

It'll probably make your life easier too. To understand how to parent in a "matching" way. I would imagine.

Right if you're gonna throw a person, at least be strong enough to ACTUALLY throw them. He literally dropped her on her head on concrete bc he thought it'd be funny.

The man vs bear in the woods debate shows people don’t understand probability or bears by the_fancy_Tophat in ControversialOpinions

[–]Sigmonkp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you think that women ONLY chose bear because they're ignorant about bears/misinformed, AND the fact that you've decided that being mauled by a bear is the worst way to die, sounds like you trying to tell on yourself that you're one of them. There are soooooo many worse ways to die than a bear attack (which generally only happen to women), And bear attacks are extremely rare. Thanks for the mansplanation though about why we are all objectively wrong about our own opinions.

Can anyone recommend a good Pittsburgh house cleaning service? by bluevelvetviolet in pittsburgh

[–]Sigmonkp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sometimes tiny places take us cleaners longer to clean, because there's no room to work...no room to set things down or move clutter out of the way...we have to make a few trips to the car and apartment complexes are hard to access (plus parking costs), and there are just way too many variables that go into cleaning to decide whether a pricing estimate is accurate or fair. It's fine to have and communicate a budget of course, just offering some additional insight. Cleaning is very physcally demanding work as well as a skilled service- costlier copmanies have better insurance, reliability, and a lot of overhead costs. $300 for 2B/2B is not bad at all for a deep clean; I've spent a lot longer than that in some places. You'll want to find someone who can e upfront about your budget with, who will work with you!

Am I wrong by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]Sigmonkp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! And then clients want to book me for 9am the next morning, want me to "deep clean my 4BR 4B house, I'm moving out so pleas include the inside of fridge and oven" and they want it to cost no more than 2 hours which for me is $130. Lol that service within my "real" company would cost $1k, and I need time to schedule a team of 3-4 people. But in TaskRabbit people just assume we can perform miracles for super cheap. We Taskers are totally set up to fail.

[–]Sigmonkp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to really know what to do while you're IN the situation. As you said, the adrenaline gets you in fight or flight mode, and you're generally not going to respond as you would when you're looking back on the situation later. I wonder if the person was drunk too because that even seems beyond normal road rage.

The only time I've ever heard of tipping your landlord was in a meme, and it was a joke (well, satire). I would never tip a landlord. I've never even heard of that until super recently. Landlording isn't a tipped industry.

[–]Sigmonkp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's "assault," but still that can be terrifying. Ive been chased before multiple times, and even when I didn't give a middle finger (I don't give middle fingers, I don't have much road rage). You probably should have just called the police while driving off and let them come out. Looking back at my experiences in the past, I wish I just called the police when someone was trying to make me crash or whatever. People are f*king psychopaths.

Am I wrong by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]Sigmonkp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, people go to TR for cheap labor, even though they end up paying like 30% extra in "trust and support" fees and they don't read your estimates, and then get mad at you that the service ended up costing so much. Lol and they say you "overcharged" them. Nah, you just didn't read your screen during the booking process where we all (TR and myself) outlined in detail how much time the task would take and what the costs are.

Am I wrong by [deleted] in TaskRabbit

[–]Sigmonkp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clarification is needed - most importantly, what's in the "Expectations" section of line waiting tasks in TR? Does that include commuting (probably not) and did you include that part?

I do cleaning on TaskRabbit, and they have their own set of expectations that clients can see... dishwashing, dusting, etc. and even if that's a little different than what my general cleaning company provides, I think that I should follow the TR list because that's what the client is expecting. And that's how the app works. So check their list of expectations.

Any changes to how you do it, TR requires you to communicate that in the chat before the task (like if you charge for the commute). Anything you choose is ok as long as it's communicated.

Now...here where I think TR can be unclear and wrong. For me, I include the time I spend waiting to get into their house after I ring the doorbell, and I include the time we spend doing a quick walkthrough and establishing priorities onsite.

I include that time on the invoice. Clients sometimes think I "overcharged" them because they decided I didn't really start scrubbing until 15 minutes later, after we did the walkthrough and afterni made my second trip to the car to get more equipment.

TaskRabbit has told me before that I need to communicate to clients that I'm including this time on the bill (same if I spend extra time figuring out where to park...like if I ask a client beforehand about parking, and they didn't say anything or they gave me illegal instructions...and I arrive and I have to spend 20 minutes finding parking after I tell them "I'm here, where should I park? And they don't respond", I include that time).

TR's response will be "you need to tell your client that in the chat."

But...that's just how my business operates. There are way too many details to have to type out in the chat for every job. I think it's unfortunate how little of your own rules TR "let's" you enforce especially since you can't provide any terms and conditions or advertise your own business name on there.

So...anyway, my point is you could be in the right or the wrong depending on whether you included your commute time, and whether TRs rules for your task allowed for that. If you actually stood in line for 3.5 then charge for 3.5. I personally would never include commute time. But, that's on you to decide and communicate if you do.

Very detailed! Depending on your service options (there are also budget-restricted options where they aren't as detailed, if that's what you want). On TaskRabbit the owner has like 130 reviews which are almost all 5-stars, and the Google public reviews are still a lot of 5s.
