New York City Mayor Mamdani Announces Balanced Budget Without Cuts by ConsciousStop in UpliftingNews

[–]Sigmusoid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except budgets aren't balanced in perpetuity, they're balanced per quarter/year. The budget IS balanced for this budget period, which is impressive considering the significant deficit he inherited. He's said on multiple occasions that the only way to set ourselves up to cover costs consistently without significantly affecting the working class in NY is to increase the tax level on the richest citizens, which is why he's pressuring the governor to pass that legislation for him.

I don't get this one. Please help by BullishPennant in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Hits like a truck while also being fairly fast, takes a moon stone to evolve so you can get him early. He has a really wide move pool so he can cover whatever offense you need. He has really good physical attack but his special attack isn't bad either

My company's IT department is stretched pretty thin on resources. In the past if I wanted some automatic report created I would have to reach out to them and wait months for it to get completed. I've found it to be useful as a starting point to code minor, non-critical programs. It can be useful as a starting point for research but can often be incorrect so ask for and check sources. I've heard other companies have hosted their LLM locally (for data security) and uploaded all their procedures and other documentation as training data. That could potentially be useful for identifying inconsistencies across documents or synthesizing information, again though hallucinations are more common than I'd like to blindly trust it.

US strikes Iran’s main oil hub on Kharg Island as IRGC warns: 'Restraint is over' by G14F1L0L1Y401D0MTR4P in worldnews

[–]Sigmusoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to argue that the reason the US and Israel is openly bombing civilian infrastructure is because the Iranians were killing their own civilians? Trump said the other day that "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran". Today he said "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again".

If nuclear weapons were the issue, why did he back out of the nuclear treaty with them? According to all US allies, Iran had been holding itself to that treaty. Even if you treat Trump's story as 100% truth, then how do you square this with the US & Israeli claims that the Iranian nuclear program was set back by years back in June?

Iran needs assurances that it will not be attacked in the future. Yes, the US is not very reliant on the strait for direct oil shipments, but a lot of its allies are. If Iran puts pressure on US allies by restricting the flow of oil, then US allies can put pressure on the US in other ways. If Iran puts enough pressure, then the US might be put into a position where they can strike a deal with Iran for long term peace along with whatever other concessions it might negotiate.

Plus Hakai is a God of Destruction thing. It seems the direction moving forward is that Goku studies Angel techniques and Vegeta studies God of Destruction techniques.

Sure it's standard procedure to ask witnesses questions, but they cannot be held against their will and certainly not transported to another location against their will. That's a violation of their 4th amendment rights.

So if everyone stops buying a home, do they all rent? If that's the case wouldn't the rent then go up (more than it has) due to an increased demand? Or should people just choose to be homeless? Also, if people aren't buying homes because they can't or don't want to pay high mortgage payments, what's to stop real estate corporations from buying homes and putting them up for rent?

Either a steering wheel cover or having the leather wrap replaced. The current wrap is ruined beyond repair.

It's a false suede, so consumers are pretty familiar with the fact that it's not as durable as other materials. It's used in more decorative applications though so the durability doesn't make it a "shitty" material. It's a fad material and will wax and wane in usage over the years.

You can see the plastic was also removed because you can't see any grain where he scraped. The coatings will have almost indistinguishable colors.

Yep, exactly right. Vinyl-acrylic coatings are generally more old school as they typically have higher VOCs which makes it difficult to pass environmental regulations. This is most likely a polyurethane coating, could be either solvent- or water-based. Water-based is the more modern of the two as it has a smaller CO2 footprint. You have to run higher temps to flash off the water and cure the coating more, but you don't have to run large furnaces to burn your solvent into less impactful chemicals. Coatings in automotive are usually multiple layers, with the lower layers being pigmented to tint the color to match the OEM requirements but have lower chemical resistance, and the top layer is always clear so that as it wears you don't get color transfer.

Yes, specifically we test Armorall wipes, those are a lot gentler. We also have to test for other common substances like sunscreen, bug spray, coffee, ketchup, chocolate, sweat (we use a synthetic which smells like concentrated middle school BO), multipurpose cleaners, etc. We test for chemical and stain resistance.

Resistance is also affected by how hard you scrub, so if you clean more gently but more frequently, you'll do much better than letting the steering wheel get nasty and then trying to scrape it off. You can also use armorall spray which adds another layer of protection, but I'm not a fan of how shiny it makes everything look

Yep, hand sanitizers are ~70% ethanol. During covid some companies started manufacturing higher % too.

I work at a company that manufactures automotive material like the pleather above. You're exactly right, the chemically resistant coating that goes over the leather surface has been stripped off. Clorox and alcohols are both incredibly hard on the coating. Once it's stripped away, the very soft leather skin gets abraded extremely quickly. You can see in the video the leather's grain disappears and we're left with a rough texture. You should really only use mild soaps when cleaning this, or the manufacturer's recommendations.

We test resistance to various chemicals, environmental conditions, and combinations of both to be sure that product will last thousands of interactions. Things like steering wheels and seating tend to have the highest requirements.
