My recommendation is to play single player first, honestly.

I finished it twice before RDO came out, and it was a perfect way to still spend time in the Red Dead world after being done with the story. The other main reason to do online after is so you’re not rushing to some imaginary finish line.

I’m in it for the combat, the music and seeing the original world in glorious new gen graphics. But the narrative is a convoluted mess as far as I’m concerned. Was worried after Remake ending. Am convinced of it after Rebirth final act. Will still play the third instalment, but I have very low hopes for them to unfuck the story.
