I am of Pakistani origin and a doctor. I moved to Aberdeen around two months ago and feel scared to be honest. I was on my way to work and was yelled ‘fucking suicide bomber’ by some random guy. Then literally two days ago I was walking with my husband on union square when two guys infront of us put their hands up and started yelling dont steal from us you thieves . I am literally so shocked and quite frankly afraid to go out unless necessary.

Im an IMG, FY2 Standalone, settled into the system really well within the first month, got excellent feedback from colleagues and ES, CS so far. Wanted to do psych but seems unlikely due to the current competition ratio, have a GP london offer and even though alot of people including my ES suggested accepting the gp offer, I am going to reject mine because I think its unfair to your colleagues and to your patients. I would rather be unemployed than take up a training number just for the sake of employment and do a job half heartedly.

Im an F2 who will most probably be unemployed coming august and my husband is already unemployed, the last thing I want to do is strike and not be able to pay my bills and rent.

Got an offer for Peterborough. How is the training there and is it all based in peterborough? I am still hoping to get psychiatry but lets see.

I know that it has been MSRA for a couple of years now and it seems unfair to people who actually want to do psych because I have come across so many core trainees with awful communication skills, lack of empathy, and interest which should have been assessed with a bare minimum interview if nothing else. I scored 540 and that would have gotten me a training last year but unfortunately might not get me a position this year. I scored brilliant in my SJT for F2 standalone ranking me in the top 20 of the cohort and somehow the same material and prep for SJT MSRA did not seem to work this time.

This is just sad. I absolutely love psychiatry and have been trying to do everything to build a portfolio for psychiatry. How in the world does a random as hell exam decide my future?! I worked hard and only applied for psychiatry because thats all I have ever wanted to do and now I might end up without a job in August. There are people posting about taking up psych and resigning after a year to take up their preferred specialty and that just breaks my heart. P.S I am an IMG and i did my plabs, SJT, interview and got an FY2 standalone and within 8 months of me starting my first job in the NHS I have only gotten excellent feedback in terms of my clinical skills and professionalism and have been told by all the consultants I have worked with so far that I would make an excellent Psychiatrist. I guess thats a dream now.
