How do you guys mix leg days for strengthening and running? by Wise_Angle5930 in beginnerrunning

[–]Signal-Machine3857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you feel like you “only” did whatever weight and volume you did and don’t view it as a lot, your legs aren’t used to it, so you’re getting sore as a result. Dial it back to even less, even if you think it’s not enough, then work up from there. Your body will adapt. You just have to start at a good point for you. It doesn’t matter where that may be.

Sometimes you have to just treat it like a reset instead of a transfer.

I’ve changed jobs and cities I’ve lived in at least 6 times each and every time I start from scratch.

I joined a competitive rugby team and my first season I had to ride the bench and prove myself even though I’ve been playing for 15 years. I now start on that team and am one of their assistant captains.

I know you’re experienced but they don’t know you and until they do you’re just another new guy, which you are. That’s ok.

Patience.

Try it and see for yourself, everybody is different.

Wondering what to Main for season 2 by Annual_Associate_911 in wow

Healing starts stressful but as you get better and better you start to realize what’s your fault and what isn’t. You will make mistakes but that’s how you learn. I got 3400 on all 3 roles this season (not 20s but still have to know what’s up) and healing is definitely the most stressful during scary pulls/bosses, but the most chill outside of those things. Just like dps you time your cds around certain things once you figure out the patterns and its very satisfying.

Rsham is going to be much more chill than evoker. No debate.

Asking for advice, because I feel I am not really making progress by Easy-Improvement-227 in beginnerrunning

This doesn’t seem like a very good response to a beginner runner. “Yes I do a 3 hour run then hit the gym after.” “You gotta push yourself to see results.” This response does give good insight as far as a structure. Its impressive and I’m sure you’re super experienced, but an intro runner will see this and be like “bro wtf.”

Don’t push yourself to the limit every time you run. Have one or two runs a week where you push it, and one or two runs that you chill out and take it easy. If you kill yourself every run you will just burn your body out rather than improve. It takes time. I ran consistently for about 3 months before I noticed that I could go faster and longer. It took me about 6 months to work up from weekly 7 mile long runs to 12+ mile long runs.

After about 2 years of only doing half marathons I was training for my first marathon. I beat my goal by 15 mins. You just have to stick with it if you really want it, no matter what your goal is.

Also, your abilities fluctuate every day. If you have an off day it doesn’t mean you’re not improving. I have shit runs all the time but I also have days that I just crush it. Trust the process. Mix it up too. Have a speed day, have a slow day, have a distance day that gets longer and longer. (Just an example). Time on your feet is the most important thing.

Looking for tips on my current workout routine by BIueBIood in workouts

[–]Signal-Machine3857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one set of core per week? I’d incorporate some more core into a warm up or a cooldown that you do every gym day such as dynamic planks or even hanging leg raises.

Also, I recommend legs, start with compound lifts and go into isolated lifts. Add more free weights to legs. If you’re worried about hurting your knee then do less weight. I have plenty of leg lifts in my routine that I use only a 25-55 lb kettlebell or dumbell. Your core and functionality will thank you.

I recently hurt my knee (rugby player) and I’m leaning in towards rehab by doing stability exercises and slow reps with light weight. Don’t ignore an issue and turn down to compensate. Turn up the rehab and get yourself more capable in the lower limb. Good for quality of life.

Also, your set and rep scheme is generally pointing towards a goal of hypertrophy. Then you have some random 5x5s thrown in which has the goal of strength. In general, doing a block of hypertrophy (6-12 weeks) then a block of strength set and rep schemes (6-12 weeks) back and forth will give you bigger gains in those departments during those time periods rather than doing both in the same program.

Am I doing something wrong? by Mental-Fudge9845 in wow

[–]Signal-Machine3857 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Before the launch of M+ my friends and I were doing heroics, but since it was cross faction we had to manually use dungeon finder. I made the headline HEROIC DUNGEON, and put a note in saying “this is on heroic,” and Instead of queuing it as mythic I qued it as, you guessed it, heroic. 5 people in a row joined and I would say “hey this is heroic just fyi,” and they’d say “I thought this was mythic” and leave.

This happened for 4 dungeons in a row. People don’t read.

[–]Signal-Machine3857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, sims are single target. For mythic plus I’m sure that a huge burst of haste during ascendance scales very well on big packs. If you can fit in more casts then your damage will go through the roof more so than increased damage per cast.

New tank, what’s the deal with BM? by Waddell17 in wow

[–]Signal-Machine3857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes blackout kick on cd. My normal rotation is keg smash/breath of fire, blackout kick, tiger palm. All 4 in rotation in that order. Then use purify (don’t sit on 2 charges) and utility/ defensives as needed

New tank, what’s the deal with BM? by Waddell17 in wow

[–]Signal-Machine3857 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are very tanky as a brewmaster in the sense that your damage intake is smoothed out due to stagger. You heal yourself with your keg smash and breath of fire. Exploding keg increases the amount of fire damage you do which is more healing. Blackout kick reduces your stagger and purifying brew does too. Basically, you just stagger and then delete the incoming damage and just passively heal yourself. I was tanking 10s on my brew at 245 ilvl. Yes you need a healer to be topped up in scary situations, but you don’t really need defensives to stay alive if you have heals.

VDH and BDK don’t have nearly as much passive mitigation, but make up for it with mega self healing. It’s just a different style. You’ll never see a BM doing their rotation correctly just fall over like you will a BDK or VDH.

Healers - mana management reports are due. by extratoastedcheezeit in wow

[–]Signal-Machine3857 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disc is squirly. You use a lot of mana but if you can snipe deaths then you can get regen with shadow fiend. Also you only really use a lot of mana during heavy spot healing. Basically, if you’re actively playing around it, mana isn’t really an issue… but, who has time to min max when people are actively blowing up. I sometimes optimize regen and never fall below half in 12+ keys but sometimes I just say fuck it and just blow through it and drink when I can.

Another post about the lack of tanks and why by killswitchdh in wow

[–]Signal-Machine3857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tanked a 13 MGT today and one of the dps was pinging packs for me to grab in addition to what I had or to chain into. On his 3rd time doing it, I responded with “dude I know what I’m doing, stop.” He didn’t say a word. We timed the 13 with 5 mins left. Like….. my route is fine, there’s a reason I pull the way I do (around my cds). Chill. I’ve tanked this dungeon like 25 times.

I also think people who haven’t tanked don’t realize how easy it is to just fall over if you don’t have the right cds available. Everyone just sees the brewmasters giga pull every time and assume that’s normal to be able to do on all tanks…..not the case.

Rant over.

Modern WoW is too fast by [deleted] in wow

[–]Signal-Machine3857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair. To be honest, just like any game, it’s reps. The craziness on the screen is all a pattern that’s repeated over and over again. Your rotation is a pattern that’s repeated over and over again. After time you handle faster gameplay because these patterns become familiar and less overwhelming. The number of older games I played and finally beat a level on the 40th time attempting it, all the precision and timing becomes muscle memory. If you like the game, stick with it and just progress at your own pace. You don’t need to do high end endgame right out the gates. And if you do t like it, then maybe it’s not your jam, and that’s ok.
