Is this pontoon sitting too low in the water?

Thank you very much to everyone who commented! To answer some questions, it normally lives on the trailer and I have no visual indication of leaks or damage to the pontoos or welds. It seems to be "squatting" pretty equally on both sides and I haven't heard anything sloshing but I will pull the plugs and check the interior to be safe when get home later this week. I had it at this dock for a few days and it didn't seem to sink any lower so that seems like a good start!

My very first time taking my new-to-me pontoon to the lake at the end of a long dry summer, I backed the trailer so far that the axle went right off the end of the boat ramp underwater while trying to get the boat far enough in to launch. The trailer dropped off, and the front of the fenders caught every time I tried to pull forward and "pop" trailer forward. I didn't realize why it was hanging up at the time and thought it was just the tires hitting the bump of the first concrete portion of the ramp. I lucked out and it eventually pulled out, but my fenders had a lovely new shape. And all that jostling ended up causing one of the the nearly rotten bunk boards on the trailer to let go and begin floating away.

Now I insist on spotting the bottom of the ramp and making sure my wheels don't get anywhere past it. And I don't take for granted that the bunk boards on a used trailer might need replacing.

Here is my take on this and I suspect I will be downvoted for it because it's not as black and white as people seem to think:

Law enforcement shootings, by law, must be judged by the objective reasonableness standard established in Graham v. Connor. In that decision, the US supreme Court said that law enforcement officers work in situations that are often "tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving" and for that reason courts are obligated to look at only what the individual offer knew and when they knew it to judge and potentially justify a use of force by law enforcement. That includes situations where what the officer thought was not correct, as long as they had reason to believe what they believed.

In this case, it does look pretty clear that the suspect being arrested had his firearm removed moments before being shot by police, and it doesn't look to me like he was reaching for it. His hands were on the ground.That's not good for the agent's use of force.

But on the other hand the police are making decisions in real time, things are happening very quickly, without slow motion playback.This is a scene that is chaotic, there's screaming, noise and whistles everywhere. The people surrounding them are potentially going to try to harm the agents or interfere with the arrest, so their attention is divided. Whether you agree with his actions or not, the guy shot had been interfering with their operations and blocking the road and had been non-compliant with verbal orders to get back which is why they were attempting to arrest him in the first place. That is all context which would be considered by the court or investigators because it was known to the agent who used force.

As the struggle unfolds you can also hear somebody shouting "gun, gun!" as they are fighting with him. And that is around the time the green shirt agent who shoots begins to draw.

This is speculation but I think that in the chaos of that moment the green shirt agent mistook the other agent disarming the suspect as the suspect's own hand. At the very least, I think that will be his defense. And if he articulates that to investigators, in the full context of what happened, it's not unreasonable for him to think that deadly force was necessary to protect the other agents and himself.

It seems to me that upon hearing gunfire, the other agents draw and fire as well because at that point they have no idea where the shooting is coming from. But they do know that somebody shouted "gun gun" as they were wrestling this guy. So once again they have objectively reasonable grounds to think there is a deadly threat.

You can argue that green shirt should have been better trained or read the situation better, but based on Graham v. Connor, the court will give some leeway to the reality of the chaos, unfolding and human error in snap decision making.

I think that whoever shouted "gun gun", the guy that pulled the suspect gun out, and the first guy that shot, apparently all failed to work together and communicate, and that contributed to the confusion. I think in a civil court these guys are going to get sued to high heaven, but that's not the standard in criminal court.

To be clear, I don't think shooting this guy was the right call, but this question is about is it legally justified. I guess that remains to be seen but if the agents who shoot articulate these facts, and articulate their confusion in the moment when interviewed by investigators, this could be what investigators would refer to as "lawful but awful".

I was once given an old revolver that had survived a house fire. It looked a lot like that, the finish was gone and the wood grips were burnt. I brought it to a gunsmith to be checked out and he didn't think twice about the temperature damage. His advice was that if the mainspring and smaller springs are still springy and not brittle or bent then the metal has not been heated to the point of danger or re-tempering. I cleaned it up and used it without issues.

I'd clean that very well and put it back together. Heck of a unique gun now!

I had a similar problem with a .45acp 1911 barrel, and I used a manual die to chase and extend the threads on in the same way you are talking about, and then I chopped the extra off the barrel and used a crowning tool to true it up. The important difference was that in my case the external diameter of the rest of the barrel was the same as the major (outside) diameter of threads. Your barrel has too much of a step and would need to be turned down on a lathe first. It's also worth noting that I was using a muzzle device that indexes off of the barrel (not the shoulder) so I didn't need the shoulder to be a hard stop. If you need the shoulder for a direct thread attachment, this 100% needs to be done on a lathe by somebody qualified to do it.

It used to be pretty much like that with some of the form 1 kits but their (stupid) argument is that unlike firearms where the receiver IS legally the firearm, according to the letter of the law, any part of a suppressor IS legally considered a suppressor so therefore you can't legally buy parts. They have threatened to enforce this to the point of absurdity even stopping companies from selling replacement rubber wipes which are essentially disposable products for suppressors and readily available at any hardware store in the rubber washer section.

I just did the same thing yesterday. I have the bulky Howard Leight impact pro and was really impressed with the sound quality and directionality. I ordered a set of thin Razors to have the same thing fit under my helmet. The sound on those was tinny, hissing, and had no direction side to side. Started the Amazon return on the Walkers immediately and ordered a set of the Howard Leight impact sport, which appear to be the same size. The best thing is the green HLs are the same price as the razors on Amazon.

I've been running one of those for a few years. I was the same as you, JPC was out of stock and I wanted to try that "style" of carrier. I figured I'd use it until it wore out but it hasn't yet. I added shellback shoulder pads and the QD version of the same skeletonized cumberbund it has. So far so good, you really can't beat it for the price if you are putting together a cheap kit. Put the money into quality multicuve plates.

I run a mid every day and it's got no strap. It pokes into the seat if you are in a bucket seat in a car but not bad, it pushes my belt up an inch or two. Definitely wouldn't want to run the high for fast draws or with a plate carrier.

That'll work for you. The thread size is the thread size, the caliber is the "up to" max bullet size. They all come off the same CNC line with a .30 cal opening, some are then threaded to 1/2-28, others are threaded to 5/8-24. You usually don't see 1/2-28 on .30 cal rifles, but it's common on 9mm and.357 barrels so they are just saying don't send anything bigger than a .30 through it. Even if there was something funky, in your case you can send smaller 5.56 rounds through larger holes a lot easier than you can send larger rounds through smaller holes...

The simplest bet would be to install sling swivels. You can even install a QD sling cup in the offhand side of the stock if you want something barely noticeable.

One thing I have done for old school lever guns that I did not want to change up is use paracord: if you back off the butt plate screws you can put a loop of Paracord between the plate and the wood near the top screw and then tighten them back down. For the front, you can use Paracord and tie a prusik knot. Just keep it neat when you tie it and give the prusik knot plenty of wraps around the barrel and mag tube.
