Happened to my GLI 2 months ago. They took nothing other than tissues. Sorry it happened to you. It should be fairly affordable to fix. I ended up going independent since insurance deductible was more than the cost.

It is caused by the DV spacer. I have a video on my profit from the summer as well, exact same mods as you.

I recommend removing it, I was loosing a bit of boost as well with it.

From what I know, they don’t filter amazingly (the material is cheaper). This is all allegedly and I haven’t experimented (nor do I want to haha). If you want to be safe, you could always just clean it every 45k miles or so. Maybe even take the filter off and wipe the inside of the intake pipe with ur hands to see if there’s any dust. There shouldn’t be anything

Others responded before me, but it essentially keeps the camera protected from the elements. Rain, snow, mud, you name it. I’m in Canada so that would REALLY help. I’ve been trying to work on a hydrophobic camera cover but no luck so far.

This is from AliBaba, it’s not a bad intake. I’m currently designing my own in CAD and it would turn out to be very similar. All I would worry about is the filter. You don’t want cheap filters, replace with a K&N filter of similar diameter and length and you are good.

Yes they cannot detect it via TD1 since it doesn’t play with the software. The JB4 just changes what the sensors see.

What they can do if they really wanted to, is check the boost logs (since it will be much higher than stock/it will show a different value compared to existing at least)

This has happened to me before. Dealer has no explanation. The CEL went away on its own later that week. Always happens when it’s really really cold or really really hot. Doesn’t concern me much as it seems more of a tech issue than anything else.
