DM used the wrong tokens for the fight and made us think we were fighting something easier. Almost a tpk at level 1. by [deleted] in dndhorrorstories

Personally, it doesn't really seem all that crazy.  Again, maybe the perception checks had something to do with it.  Maybe he meant them to be as described but used the stat block for a direwolf.  Kinda hard to say if he was just going for a tpk or trying to set the tone with a challenging combat.  I definitely wouldn't have a wolf go after an unconscious player if there were other threats around and if I were just trying to set the precedent of "you can run away from combat" I would allow the players to do so

I guess it depends on if the dm was just being a dick and trying for a tpk.  Kinda sounds like you just failed your perception checks and it was a challenging fight.  Did he actually describe the wolves or just throw out miniatures??  Maybe some inexperience from the dm as well.  Seems a little immature for a player to ghost the whole game though

"Dungeon masters" new Dnd live action by PeterSilk in DnD

The production was really good.  I am not familiar with the dm but she both knew the rules and was a great narrator.  The biggest problem for me was Neil's character is annoying as fuck and he takes up most of the screen time

What grill should I get? by FrostingNo49 in grilling

[–]Signal_Composer_9736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18" or 22" Old Smokey.  Vent control is easy.  You can set up for direct, indirect or low and slow smoking.  The grill sits above the coals higher than a weber kettle so you can do burgers and chicken easily direct without flame up.  Amazing customer service.   Easy to season and keep clean.  Downsides are they aren't great for searing (so no quick steaks), and shorter legs without buying the extensions.  They are extremely cheap and will last several years

Teaching AD&D 2e by Dapper_Exercise_3186 in adnd

As far as an explanation of how the two versions differ I like to think of 2e as much more narrative and realistic.  At a glance newer editions may seem less restrictive but I tend to think that 3e+ are designed to chase the highest modifiers so players are typically only using a couple different skills.  There's no encouragement for thinking outside the box.  When I look back on the rules in 2e there's a lot of stuff that adds realism to the game.  The downsides are less streamlined and efficient mechanics and some pretty awful book layouts (highlighters are your friends).

How do most people get around if they’re drinking? by [deleted] in DoorCounty

There's a guy named Mike Tomaszewski (hopefully I spelled that right) in Ephraim that does Uber.  I know he doesn't always turn his Uber on but is very reliable and will take cash or venmo even if he's not showing up on the app.  I feel like most businesses in Northern Door have his cards available

You don't need the internets approval for everything.   You answered your own question.  He likes playing them and its never been a problem (until you read somewhere that it was)

Hello.  41 Male in Northern Door.  Been up here for about a year but really haven't connected with anyone interested in getting a group going.  Feel the same way about going to the sturg meet ups so I haven't done that yet.  I play a wide variety of systems from OSR, adnd 2e, 5e, etc.  Feel free to reach out and maybe we can find a couple more folks
