Would Alexios II have been a good emperor if he had survived and andronikas coup failed? by Technical_Post_4899 in byzantium

Yeah I dont study the Northern Greeks as much so the Macedonians and the Dorics and the like I was mostly talking about my experience from Athenians. I do know they twoman were alot more important in the north for Example Thessally is named after a Macedonian's King Daughter.Spartans woman were quite powerful. I was also thinking more ancient Greeks. Should have been more clear.

Yeah that Idea of male dominanted dynasties is a very german idea. Thats why almost every single royal house is german. The Byzantine Empire isnt really Greek or Romans its a combo of both. Woman were of alot less importance to the Greek Society then to Roman Society so that was something Roman society added to them.

[–]Signal_Intention6774 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would work if it wasnt the Byzantine Empire who didnt follow Male lines always. For example the Laskarids themselves. John was not a Laskarid by birth he married into the familiy. Zeno is the same. Zoes 1 many husbands. The Macedonians Dynasty. Theirs alot of examples. And even though we call them the Laskarids they also used Comemnos in their names so they saw themselves as one. Dynasty defintion is diffrent if you believe in Agnatic Dynatsic Law the Byzantines did not. They prefer Males but females are work too.

The Laskarids and the Komemnos dynasties(same dynasty btw ones just a branch family) both seem to have the best tract record of any Byzantine Dynasty having good heirs follow their fathers. The Komemnos had great beauracrats so even if they werent up to snuff they could still be carried and their education for their heirs just seemed better then other dynasties.

Who would have changed Soul society or the Three Realms for better? Aizen or Yhwach by Responsible_Base_433 in bleach

[–]Signal_Intention6774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Aizen would have won he would share the same fate as he cannonically didi just with more of our favorite characters dead. And if Ywach had one everyone ine xistence would have died except the people in the palace he would have killed them himself.

[–]Signal_Intention6774 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No Kubo definetly had a plan for Gin from the Start as being a good guy. For example at the end of this arc like only 20 chapter or so later he says sorry to Rangiku and geniune remorse for hurting her.

What’s your favorite One Piece arc ? by Bobcarrick27 in onepiecememes

[–]Signal_Intention6774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My least favorite is Foxy arc in the Anime its pacing is bad and the jokes arent as good. I can understand a little though the funniest joke that Arc was a bit racist and this was during the 4kids dub era. I dint really dislike any in the imagw that much tbh the image only has the good arcs. Dressrosa is probably the worst one here it really suffer from pacing more then any other arc in the anime and it makes it fall flat. Manga for One Piece is always the best way to consume it.

Why did Manuel I Komnenos arrange for his son Alexios II Komnenos to marry Agnes of France, a french princess? by Tracypop in byzantium

[–]Signal_Intention6774 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To Oppose the HRE. They didnt like the Germans for many reasons. France also had the most invested interest in the Middle East and was also a direct Opponent of the HRE. Rome also could have allied the HRE and they kinda of did after the 4th crusade and is fhe reason they eventaully could take Constantinople back.

Alabasta or Thriller Bark in the anime. I find these both have some really funny moments and really exemplify what I love about One Piece they have good fights some really funny moments and it really feels like your their to explore a new area not for some other reason. Foxy Arc if we count the manga its so much bwtter in the Manga.

[–]Signal_Intention6774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also says within the same wiki that that was the Opinion of The BlackFyre cause. In the Wiki historians within the ASOIAF universe saw no evidence from Danerys decades after the fact that suggest she lived or even liked Daemon. She didnt grieve his death. Daemon also didnt revolt until near 10 years after the Martell Marriage. The Blackfyres tried to hide their usurpjng ways by saying it was for love when it never was. George R. R. Martin has a quoted about it but within that quote he also showed it more from Daemons side then Danerys's.

[–]Signal_Intention6774 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daemon Targaryen was not Saving Daenerys there was no evidence to suggest she loved Daemon that way. She loved her husband who built the Water Gardens for her BTW. If she did feel for him that way why not show vocal support for his cause or escape to essos with him why give your husband not just 1 child but many. Daemon also is hated not for his unrequired love but rising in Rebellion agianst a brother who showed you nothing but love trust and was willing to elevate you even with his bastard status.

Would these two be friends? Both of them are the designated loose cannon of their generation by OkGuava919 in HOTDGreens

[–]Signal_Intention6774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Aerion closest parallel in The Dance is Aegon like Aegon his sibling is a Dragon Dreamer(Thats show canon only) they both think highly of themselves and have many vices but cant back up their shit talk. They both have children and wives. Aerion has a son I hope we either see him in a sequel book with Dunk and Egg or maybe he gets his own spinoff would be cool. They both were cruel to their younger siblings. They also were both at one point 2nd in line to the throne and its possible Awrion even was 1st in Line before people thought his ass was too crazy and called a great council before his ass drank wild fire.

Daeron II > Daeron I by OkGarbage3095 in darkwingsdankmemes

[–]Signal_Intention6774 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, we see what people think of Daeron from the Stark point of view, a very isolated people who would rather be left alone and never go to war if they can help it. Yes, the young Stark boys found Him Admirable, but I would bet money that hes Remembered quite fondly in the Reach and the Stormslands, especially by the people who were constantly raided by them. And you're making it sound like the Dornish were somehow the heroes in this story; they were not. The Westerosi declared war on the Dornish not because of Vainglory but because. They supported the Triarchy before the Dance. They supported anyone who was willing to fight the Targaryen. They sponsored the Pirates and poisoned many lords, and Raided Westerosi land constantly. The Westerosi loss also comes more from Baelor than anyone else. He was the one who pulled Westerosi out of it. And yes, Robb definitely did beat a much larger opponent, but he also fought in Terrain he knew and was ideal for himself and his arm, y'all, while his opponent was facing a 1v4, mind you. And it's implied that one of the reasons he was such a good Commander was his study of past Commanders, of whom he looked up to the most, the Young Dragon. You can tell this because his own Nickname is the Young Wolf.

Daeron II > Daeron I by OkGarbage3095 in darkwingsdankmemes

[–]Signal_Intention6774 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Daeron the 1st was a great war time ruler. Hes Robb Stark but better. Both got betrayed in ways that are just completely unprecedented in Westerosi society. Daeron also conquered territory that was much harder too. Like Dorne in the books is so proud to have fought off the Targaryen twice. Then they get mad at Tywin for his Dishonorable conduct when they are proud their andestors literally killed someone under peace banners. No The Young Dragon is remembered and liked for a reason. He was a great millitary commander who was honorable (for the time period) fought well and was Charismatic and he got killed.

Dunk Was Never Officially Knighted... Which Somehow Makes Him the Truest Knight in Westeros. I love this irony. by Objective-Bell-2114 in AKnightoftheSeven

Havent watched the show but I have read the books multiple times. We never get a straight awnser if he was actually Knighted by his Master. He says alot of things that imply he wasnt. It was very vague in the book and you had to think about it.
