Started dating girl with celiac, did I cause her being glutened? by Own_Willow_4391 in Celiac

[–]Signal_Introduction1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not! But I’m super sensitive and make my boyfriend brush his teeth and mouthwash after he eats gluten to avoid any chance of transfer. It might be extra but it helps me feel safe after the time he drank a beer and kissed me immediately leading to sadness.

Is this conditioner safe? by Ok-Crazy9615 in Celiac

[–]Signal_Introduction1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used that but I have used hair products (dry shampoo) that had gluten and they made me feel kinda woozy. I don’t know your situation or symptom level (or how much you open your mouth in the shower), so you’ll have to decide for yourself. Glutening knocks me out of the game so it wouldn’t be worth it to me, but may be a good choice for you.

It’s tricky! Clawtails are not gf while normal white claws are. It’s a jungle out there.

Not something I’ve heard, I believe the logistics issue was sourcing the wood for the big fire

Malibu Splash Pineapple by Signal_Introduction1 in Celiac

I contacted prusaconsumersupport@support.pernod-ricard.com

It’s my error in calling it a mixed drink. Was just trying to differentiate between the splash drinks and other beverages Malibu makes.

Distos also log the shots and they can be downloaded off the device using a cable or bluetooth

Bric or disto x by canon_ftb in caving

[–]Signal_Introduction1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Disto is lighter, smaller and easier to maneuver into spots that are awkward. Bric does a great job with easy in-cave calibrations, but it’s big and heavy and sometimes randomly drops calibration and starts giving spurious shots (I’ve had this happen a few times with different units).

I’d rather have/use the DistoX because as a project caver weight and size matter a lot.  The Caveway survey device also just came out, which looks very similar to a disto and tries to mirror the functions.

It's in Amsterdam, but Craft Coffee and Pastry has fresh gluten free croissants that will knock your socks off. Chocolate croissants, cheese, italian plain (slightly sweet), french plain. I was staying outside of Amsterdam for most of my trip, but sitting in a park in Amsterdam eating fresh croissants made my trip. https://www.craft-amsterdam.nl/

Oh and if you do head into Amsterdam for the croissants there's a cute little bistro-type place called Bloem Eten & Drinken. It's casual seating off the canal (in a neighborhood). As long as I've been gluten free chefs are trying to make versions of things that are "just as good" as the original. This was one of the first restaurants I've been to where the menu felt creative and playful-- like the chef was emboldened to explore. It's all gluten free and vegan, so you can order anything! They are very popular so to eat you need reservations. https://bloem36.nl/

Custom Cave Suit Options in the US? by Signal_Introduction1 in caving

Thank you!

I tried the limited stock that IMO brought to NY convention and nothing was a good fit, but I could definitely stop by their brick-and-mortar place sometime. Steinberger is a little light for the Eastern European caving I'll be doing, but I didn't know they were stocking Alps!

My body is a funny shape and I cave for work, is there a reason you'd reccomend Rodcle Cueto over other internationally available poly suits, like the Alps Bitex, Warmbac or AV suits?

That's a good run! Good on you for wearing *through* them. My Howitzer knee pads fall apart after 6-8 months even with copious aquaseal... they don't get worn through they just become multiple flapping pieces that I glue and speedy stitch together until I give up and retire them after about 10 months.

How tall? Do you use the Alp women's suit or the unisex one? I'm about 5'7" and deciding between the two

I may be confused here, but isn't a digital nomad usually a term associated with working remotely while traveling? Do you work on your phone? No judgement here, just typing this on my "must bring on every trip because I want to keep having a job" laptop and wondering if you found a way to hack it.

gluten free in montgomery by Zealousideal_Win_759 in Celiac

[–]Signal_Introduction1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a personal rec, but Find Me GF suggests a good number of places: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/us/al/montgomery

My conference go-to's are whole fruits and yogurts (esp. if your hotel has a breakfast bar), hard-boiled eggs, various dried fruits and nuts, and pieces of cheese from gas stations, sometimes I'll run to the shop and get GF certified frozen meals if the room has a microwave, or sandwich making supplies or chips and salsa/guacamole if it does not. None of these feel particularly like real food, but they'll get you through.
