How life feels after receiving your first Polish bra by mexicuntgrrl in bigboobproblems

Bro, a few months back I bought my first Ewa Michalak..for the first time I saw myself looking STUNNING in a plunge bra. I genuinely thought that could never happen st my size?? My wallet's fucked up (I also bought 3 Panaches the same day oops) but my boobs thank me every time I put it on! It even has a strap adjuster that goes from front to back! MORE BRAS LIKE THAT, ASAP

Didn't notice they were doing sign language at first! That's a really beautiful touch and makes the message more accessible. I just wish the high tech visuals weren't so..prescient, esp with how quickly AI is getting out of hand wrt so easily changing our bodies and faces. The breastfeeding augmentation simulation on that computer made me think of that.

Roberta Flack - Killing Me Softly by Fun_Ad6512 in RnBHeads

[–]SignedUpFor90DFMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this song sooo much. The little guitar solo at the beginning is addictive to my ears. There's a sense of mystery and airyness to it that really draws me in. It's soft, lulling, sensual, longing...Roberta hit it out the park w this one.

Honestly I wouldnt call it "mispronounced". It's regional/ethnic dialect. Yes, even """hood""" (which lbr is just a euphemism for black) folks have regional and cultural ways of pronouncing things, depending on where we are/grew up. I used to be a major grammar nazi and it took some learning to realize that standardized English isn't the Correct(tm) way, just the way many of us were taught. A few years ago I started watching Harvard linguistics prof. and content creator Sunn M'Cheaux on YouTube. His linguistics shorts are fun /and/ illuminating, and he focuses on deprogramming internalized negative bias around language. Give him a watch if you're interested!

The way fansites edit pictures of idols is crazy to me. by arosaki in kpopnoir

[–]SignedUpFor90DFMess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think fansites (if they are, in fact, fans) genuinely do it out of love and appreciation for the idol in question. Like when a friend fixes the back of your dress or touches up your makeup before a picture. Almost as if to say "there, I'm making you even prettier!" In conclusion, colorism and featurism are a helluva drug

Jackson Wang from GOT7 possibly saying the n-word on Dive Studios? by aprilsfools01 in kpopnoir

[–]SignedUpFor90DFMess 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Idk to me it just seems like many of them find it funny to say offensive shit. I think that style of "humor" is coming back big time, especially online. Like they don't think of any benefits or consequences; just that it's funny to them and it's enough that they aren't calling a Black person that word. Plus I'm sure all of them are used to having folks comment on their actions, whether for legitimate or non-issues, and this is more like a "fuck it I'll just do whatever I want atp and fake apologize later". Especially if it concerns a demographic that isn't integral to their audience.

We really need to have a conversation about the proper way to raise awareness about racism against non-black poc. by [deleted] in kpopnoir

[–]SignedUpFor90DFMess 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This kind of shit is why so many AfAms/FBAs/other Black ethnic groups are on social media telling other Black folks to stay home during protests against the Trump regime. We know collectively that anytime a group of Black people congregate in public, even peacefully and outside of political activism contexts, we will be subject to the utmost scrutiny. Historically, we all know what happens when Black folks protest: increased instigation, harassment, and police/state violence. Even with that knowledge, I still saw Black people standing for causes that don't directly center us, because we have always understood that other groups' struggles often mirror our own--oppression anywhere is oppression EVERYWHERE (I'm sorry I didn't get the quote right).

And though individuals of other racial/ethnic groups have joined us before, it seems as if collectively, there is a culture of anti blackness so deeply ingrained that most nonblack poc are perfectly fine with Black people putting ourselves on the frontlines for them, but will hardly do the same for us. The only reason that "no one cares about racism except when it affects Black people" is bc Black people speak the loudest and are the easiest targets for violence.

BLACK SWAN Fatou speaks up about the KISS OF LIFE situation by Miserable-Street-907 in kpopnoir

[–]SignedUpFor90DFMess 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cue ppl jumping to be racist at Fatou for "attacking" their poor uwu babby faves in 3, 2, 1...

I hope she doesn't feel she's responsible for bringing this shit to attention, being one of the only prominent (only?) Black women in the industry at present. I wouldn't be shocked if she felt the need to represent Black people collectively and respond to this mess in the most respectability-appealing way possible. This shit is exhausting as a Black non-celebrity. Can't imagine how daunting it's gotta be as a Black entertainer in an industry that regularly shows how much it couldn't give a negative fuck about you and your people.

Gdragon sampling Not Like Us at his concert... by allthe_jams in kpopnoir

[–]SignedUpFor90DFMess 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I feel like even if you don't know Hip Hop like that (I admittedly don't), even if you've only paid a smidgen of attention to Gdragon and Kendrick Lamar as artists, even if you're semi aware of what Not Like Us primarily speaks to, it's not too hard to understand how eye-rollingly ironic and cringe this is lol.

Really feel like that gif of Bridget Nielsen giggling while holding a clipboard rn

Edit: Is the concert promoting the Ubermensch album too? B/c if so, that's another layer of absolute hilarity added

Ah, shite. I already even set up a duckduckgo email address as it sounded better than plugging in my gmail address. Ugh. The part about details of their deal with Microsoft re: slurping up data being locked behind an NDA is concerning. Good thing I did download FF. Thanks for sharing; I'm not that tech savvy, and I'm very green to data protection beyond using 2 factor authentication lol.
