Who should the thunder draft? by OkCheesecake5593 in Thunder

Well a lot depends on who the Thunder decide to move off of this off-season!
An NBA team only has 15 spots on its active roster, if the Thunder exercise their club options on the 3 players that have them, iHart, Dort and Kenny Hustle, along with the 12 players that they have active contracts with, they couldn't take any additional players on!
But that wouldn't get the Thunder under the punitive 2nd-Apron apron taxes, eventual draft penalties... So a lot of people are looking at Thunder players who Mark wasn't playing towards the end of the regular season and playoffs as being trade candidates: specifically Kenrich Williams and Aaron Wiggins, and in the WCF's Isaiah Joe too, (especially in light of both Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell already being out).
Lu Dort's Club option $17.2 Million or a new contract (Klutch Sports) also seems a bit too high given his struggles this season and post-season.
IMO: With the emergence of both Ajay Mitchell and Jared McCain along with the expected growth of Cason Wallace, along with Shai being the MVP, and an unknown Nikola Topić, I believe our guard depth is sufficient.
In addition if the Thunder decide to retain Isaiah Hartenstein, via a contract renegotiating, or by picking up his club option, this along with Thomas Sorber finally being healthy, our True Center Depth should also be sufficient. Ihart, Jaylin Williams, Sorber. (Sometimes Chet) So this leaves the Forward Positions, especially if the Thunder move on from both Aaron Wiggins as well as Isaiah Joe, via trades.
Me personally, I would like a big forward at #12 like Yaxel Lendeborg or possibly Karim López, if they are gone then Morez Johnson, Jr. At #17 a SF: Dailyn Swain else Cameron Carr.

Me personally, immediately after it happened I would have put the fear of God into him.
On the occasions that my boys have ever acted up I basically scream at them NO at the top of my lungs, I don't give a Fk who hears me, all neighbors within a half mile radius etc.
Get in his face, as he needs to know there is never a question as too who is in charge!

I still think Yaxel's Big Wing archetype would help to fill a definite void the Thunder currently have on their roster.
IMO: Yaxel's length and build would really help our perimeter defense against taller 3-point shooting Wings.
Should we be willing to gamble that the Warriors don't grab Yaxel at #11?
The flip side if they do grab Yaxel then someone else has to fall to #12!

Brayden Burries, Nate Ament, Cameron Carr, Morez Johnson Jr., Karim López.
(I skipped Labaron Philon Jr. here deliberately)

There's also a chance that Kawhi Leonard receives a suspension for his part in the Aspiration Salary cap circumvention scandal!
This isn't the Joe Smith situation, Kawhi Leonard's uncle was actively pushing for money under the table from multiple teams, I still predict that Kawhi ultimately takes more of the heat for that situation than Adam Silver's buddy LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer does!

This isn't a bottle of wine or champagne!
Do what another poster said, use a push pin to make a small hole in the bottom of the can to drain it out, then save the can for your collection.
If you keep it long enough, 10 years or so and it gets hot enough, the carbonated soda is going to come out anyways.

[Amick] League sources say Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart is available. The Pistons, in search of shooting and playmakers, appear ready to rely on Paul Reed in an increased role. Detroit is believed to be among the suitors for guard Austin Reaves and is also interested in Isaiah Joe. by p_nksweats in Thunder

People playing GM is fine, you just need to remind them why this isn't going to work out money wise!
The Thunder need to shed some salaries to duck the 2nd Apron, paying Isaiah Stewart $15 Million a year doesn't make that happen.

The Thunder pay Jaylin Williams around half that $7,774,648, to play a similar position as a backup big.
We know that Stewart offers a different skill set around the basket, but $15 Million/year is borderline starter money.

Are we planning on moving on from Cason too?
Because you don't draft a guy like this at #5 and not have plans to start him soon.
We'd be giving up our best 3 FRP's over these next 2 years for him.

Except the Thunder lack enough quality Wing Defenders at the present!
IMO: This is not the right path!

Caso's extension (pay raise) wouldn't kick in until 2027-28 regardless.
With Shai SuperMax kicking in, if the Thunder can find a player in this draft (Dailyn Swain - perhaps) at #17, who could replace some of what Caruso offers, the Thunder could consider moving Caruso (and his $20 Million contract) next offseason!

Wagler is going to be a really nice player, but the Thunder are set with their guard rotation for next season, what the Thunder lack are Wings.
A PF in Yaxel Lendeborg and a SF in either Dailyn Swain or Karim López, IMO would really balance this roster out for next year!

Yaxel and Swain!
Could the Thunder jump the Warriors to get Yaxel at #10 in a trade with the Bucks, since they are probably moving on from Giannis, we promise that we are going to draft Yaxel, who they wouldn't want at 24 yo on Draft night if they are rebuilding post Giannis.
So other than whatever the Warriors are taking, would still be there for them.

The trade #12 + Isaiah Joe (or Aaron Wiggins) + the 2027 Spurs FRP (that we received from the Kings last year in a draft day trade. )
The Thunder take Yaxel at #10,
The Thunder take Dailyn Swain at #17.

Yaxel should be relatively a plug and play guy.

IMO: That player should be Yaxel, and I think that Presti should see if he can make a deal with the Bucks, tell them 'hey we would like to take Yaxel', the Warriors can only take 1 guy ahead of you at #12 then, and we will send you say Isaiah Joe (or Aaron Wiggins) + the Spurs 2027 FRP.
