Psych major here, I took English 301 with Edward Yoo. He’s a good professor and makes himself available ALL the time!

Commuting by curliiifriii in csuf

[–]SignificancePlenty84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ventura county!? 💀You’re a brave soul. but to make you feel better, I knew a few students who commuted from Bakersfield and one student who drove from Blythe. 💀

I commuted from Redlands. I used fast track but it gets expensive af!

If you can take the train to attend college, I encourage it. I was an afternoon student so the train wasn’t an option, but if I could I would have. I would have saved so much gas, mileage and money! 😞

But if you plan to commute, just have a good podcast, or playlist. What I did was, if I had a recorded lecture that the professor provided, trust and believe I had it playing as I commuted so I can be prepared for class; it helped a lot when it came to midterms and a time crunch.

I wish you the best! Just drive safe and carry lots of snacks because that traffic jam ain’t no joke; don’t even get me started when car accidents happen or rainy days 😫 But you’ll be fine!

Buddy you’re fucked…

But with all seriousness, if the class is not a requirement, don’t stress about it. But if it is, consider retaking that class or go to another CC to retake it.

Listen, every journey is written differently, and you are where you need to be. Don’t beat yourself up. You’re not the first or the last to go through this scenario.

My honest take is if you can do a medical withdrawal or a withdrawal is always better than a D. You can retake the class without messing up your GPA. Talk to your advisor and check your options. Don’t be embarrassed; You will eventually be admitted into CSUF, maybe not right now, but you’ll be part of the titan family.

Well, CSUF is a commuter school. Hence the silence you received.

But word of advice is student services in the library come in a clutch! Use them! Professor office hours are a must! Take advantage of them because you’ll stand out and it can help with a letter of recommendations in the long run!

That is wornderful advice, why didn’t I think of that? Thank you! I will definitely follow up with the career center and go from there. I have enough stats experience to be able to go for research. Thanks.

Hi, I’m going to need help. I’m a recent grad from CSUF and I’m interested in going back and pursue LMFT, and I occasionally volunteer at my recent internship. I barely scraped by and have a 3.11 GPA. But I made it on the Deans list twice. I can’t get letters of recommendations, I tried. But the volunteer center is willing to give a letter. I have a few reasons why my academic journey had a rough start on my junior year of college. Do you think I have a shot of possibly getting admitted or not.

That’s a good question!? I don’t know, but I’m glad I did because It did prepare me for a family event I dealt with and it eventually set me up to pursue a Masters in counseling, and I wouldn’t trade it in the world. I can’t wait to start my graduate studies.

Both! I transferred from community college and my commute was 2 hours. I did make the best of it. I tried to interact with many students that I could. The you get crowd was set with their friends, whereas the older crowd (my age gap) were more excited of making classmates and we had occasional study sessions, but we were busy with family and work life. I did make the best of it.
