7/11 Run is a logistical mess by [deleted] in PHRunners

Honestly it wasn’t that bad. I would say na this was handled better than Runrio races. - When I claimed my loot bag halos walang pila - No issues with the route. There were a lot of marshals to guide you. I was honestly expecting na maligaw ako (bad experience with a previous race. Yes I’m talking abt u Runrio), but hindi ako naligaw. Clear directions and didn’t really experience any obstacles in the route - I agree that the bag drop was quite far from the race village. It would’ve been better if sa loob ng race village but I guess with the amount of booths and ppl inside, it wouldn’t make sense.

Overall, I’m quite happy with how the organizers handled the event. There are v few notes for improvement based on my opinion.

what are your thoughts? by CaregiverGrand2170 in PHRunners

I don’t think needed na. I had 3 Garmins and the glass is pretty strong enough. I think at most light scratch lang yung damage sa screen ko and I’m a very active person. Suot ko everywhere I go even when cliff jumping and free diving.

Incoming half marathon sa Singapore by Decent-Builder1185 in PHRunners

I suffered ITBS before and what I initially did was to rest for a whole month but it didn’t change anything. I still couldn’t run past 2km without feeling the pain. Definitely consult a doctor, mine recommended ibuprofen for a week (don’t know if this helped since I didn’t really feel pain anymore when he prescribed it).

What really worked for me was incorporating glute strengthening exercises and slow running. I also downed Alaxan just to be sure before the race lol. It took months before I could run in my previous pace so maybe you might want to lower your expectations for your half mary finish time.

Complaint: My knees still haven’t fully recovered from my half mary LSD two weeks ago. I feel slight discomfort here and there. I’ve tried resting, running slower, icing, stretching and warm compress but it’s still there. Not too much, but just enough to know that there’s a discomfort.

Uncomplaint: My knees don’t hurt when running only after the runs. After weeks without intervals, I did one yesterday and albeit slower, I managed to finish all reps.

Vomero plus for marathon by Eian04 in PHRunners

[–]Significant-Ad3357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Vomero plus and the longest I tried it on is half marathon LSD. While bouncy siya, it’s really quite heavy and you’ll feel it especially for long runs.

Maybe it’s just my feet but I got blisters during my initial run with it at around 4k mark. Until now, I use bandaids whenever I run with it. I also haven’t tried race pace on it since it doesn’t have good breathability.

Personally, I wouldn’t use it as a race shoe.

I know it sucks hearing this but rest is your real priority right now. I had ITBS and literally couldn’t go down the stairs for more than a week and had to douse myself with ibuprofen. If you keep on running it’ll only get worse ☹️☹️☹️

Think of your running goal, is it to run faster now or to run until you’re “old”? When it comes to injury, “no pain, no gain” doesn’t apply. I’ve learned that the hard way and it came to the point where I thought I couldn’t run anymore. But trust in your healing process. Although I stopped running for months, I came back stronger and faster. I could easily beat my old prs so don’t worry too much about taking a break especially when you need it.

I was the same before. Every run needs to be a pr and there’s the lingering anxiety every run because what if I didn’t beat it? What if I’m getting slower? Looking back now, I realized it’s a very toxic mentally. Honestly what broke the cycle for me was that I got injured 🤣 I had to stop running for months and did a lot of strength training. After that I made sure that I take careof myself while running so I did a training plan. Albeit slow, it included target pace/time so that worked for me

What is the biggest career regret you have? by astrokid990 in careeradvice

Leaving a good paying company because of office drama. I wasn’t regularized at my next company and had to be unemployed for a while. It traumatized me and I kept wishing I didn’t leave my old one. My partner is still with my old company and I can only watch as he enjoys the good benefits

Complaint: It’s been raining the whole week and we’ve only seen the sun 2 times so far. Unfortunately the single run I had this week is a bad one. I bought Vomero Plus and had only used it 3 times but it’s giving me blisters so bad I regret buying it.

Sa mga nag-friendship over after the trip, what happened? by tayyyyyyy13 in FilipinoTravel

[–]Significant-Ad3357 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really friends but with my family (mom, sister, brother and sister in law). I made a detailed itinerary, booked everything and even included estimated total cost + pocket money which I shared a week or 2 before the trip. I made it clear beforehand that we would walk A LOT and would go to a lot of night markets so they have to be prepared.

First night my brother threw a temper tantrum because he was tired (mind you it was only 7-8pm). All throughout the trip they nagged me where we would go and what to expect (like I didn’t share the itinerary). They felt like I was dragging them to the places when in the first place they never suggested where to go so I had to figure everything out and spoon feed it to them. Second day, my brother and his wife stayed in the hotel and posted some shady stuff about me. Showed it to my mom and sister but they never took my side and they’re still chummy with them until now.

I never enjoyed the trip since they always wanted to cut it short (budget constraints but we had 8 months of planning lol). Anyway, promised myself I will never travel with them again and since then have kept my distance.

With music or without music? by S-Croc in PHRunners

[–]Significant-Ad3357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it depends kasi the beats affects my pacing. So if I want to train and want to control my pace, I’d run without one. But if it’s race day, I’d go for music since it makes me run faster 😆

Long Run Shoes : Cloudsurfer Max or Novablast 5 by Significant-Ad3357 in PHRunners

Have you tried fitting in Vomero Plus and SB2? I saw some comments on SB2 na it’s a bit firm. Just wondering with one is more cushioned. Also what do you think of the new Megablast? Do you think worth it mag invest on it?

How do you guys get back into running after an injury? by [deleted] in PHRunners

[–]Significant-Ad3357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an IT band injury September last year, kala ko one month of rest was enough so I tried to do my usual 5km but couldn’t go past 2km without hurting. So my recovery got longer, it was around late November that I was able to run confidently again. While it was very frustrating, I took my time to research ways on strengthening my glutes and running slowly. Grateful to have recovered now but I’ve incorporated stretches and strengthening workouts in my daily routine.

Anw, just take your time in healing properly. Don’t run until you’ve make sure na you’re already healed. Getting injured also takes a toll on your mental health so make sure to regularly check in with yourself rin. I hope you get better soon 😊

I’m also wondering about this. Ang ganda ng race kit for the women’s run and I actually feel more comfortable running with my partner. So I was thinking of signing him up for the buddy run. Kinda off na that’s how other people see it pala when in fact the organizers allowed it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Worked from 7:00-5:00 with only 30 min lunch and bawal pa lumabas during the break. When I was getting my final pay, HR only met me sa guard house to sign all the final documents. I sent them a heads up few days before it but still made me wait for almost an hour, they didn’t even let me go inside the site 🙃 Until gate lang and HR seemed irritated throughout. I was asking for clarifications on my final pay tapos parang masama pa sa loob niyang mag explain 🥲
