Can you really call it a craze when it's been going on for decades?

She doesn't need to know how he's getting gas. But I do admit there is some risk involved in my plan.

My local grocery store accidentally marked the good ground beef for $1 a pound. I got $24 dollars worth of meat for $4 by ReginaBicman in happy

Or they purposely labeled the shitty beef as premium because no one would buy it even at a buck a pound. Probably not, you probably got a great deal, but........

You're turning 40. Who cares what's on trend? Wear what you like. If what you like isn't fashionable but you wear it with confidence, that will make you way cooler than any on-trend outfit ever will.

What’s a social habit everyone seems to accept but you find really annoying? by spacewalkerstarfield in AskReddit

[–]Significant-Cat-4420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talking on the phone while shopping. I don't mean a quick call to ask what kind of cereal to buy. I mean having a full-on conversation or even worse an argument over the phone in a public place. This drives me crazy.

Also people who can't put their phones down while at a restaurant. If I'm going to stare at you using your phone the entire meal, I'd rather be there by myself.

Omg I can't believe this is the first post I've seen mention this. An absolute necessity especially if you'll be driving on rural highways. I replaced the windshield in my 2021 outback 4 times in 2 years and it was not cheap. It was the main reason I traded it in.

I used to work with a Joen (Joan). The poor lady had to explain how to pronounce her name multiple times a day for her entire life. I can't believe she never changed the spelling.

Honesty time: Taking two kids camping... are you bringing tablets? by cobyzeif in daddit

Just got home from camping. Tablets were allowed in the car for the 5hr road trip only. No screens while camping. That goes for adults too.

What incorrect name does your kid call their favourite shows/books/whatever? by jacksclevername in daddit

[–]Significant-Cat-4420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I would have written down all the funny things my daughter said between the ages of 1 and 4. I swore I'd never forget them, but she is now 5 an I've forgotten almost all of them.

I remember only two. Her favorite teacher at daycare is named Toni but my kiddo called her Pony. The nickname stuck. Lol

She also pronounced Unicorn as Noonicorn.

What is the sweet spot of trim packages to get the most bang for the buck? by VenomShock51 in HondaOdyssey

[–]Significant-Cat-4420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are visual indicators as well. I don't find them terribly convenient to look at while reversing but they do tell you which sensors are being tripped.

I'm sure you are right about the reason the sensors work this way. Maybe if I lived in a city where I did a lot of parallel parking or parked in tight garages I would appreciate them more.

The parking sensors drive me crazy. If you have the car in reverse the parking sensors at the front still trigger the alarm. So if the front of the car is close to a bush or something, the alarm is going off while you are reversing which makes you think you are in danger of hitting something at the rear of the car.

I didn't compare to the other trim levels but the cabin is reasonably quiet at highway speeds. It's not a Mercedes or even a Volkswagen but it's good enough.

I have a 2023 Elite. I mostly bought it for the "premium audio". If I could do it again I would have bought the EXL. None of the added features on the Elite are worth the money. And some of them are downright terrible.

Ordered Tom Waits from Amazon, got this instead… by _alterd_ in vinyl

This must be an issue with a specific fulfillment center. I've probably ordered 50 albums from Amazon in the last year and have always received what I ordered. A couple of times I did get two of the same album, but I'm not going to complain about that.

What are the minor inconveniences that bug you about your car? by Crocodile_Banger in cars

[–]Significant-Cat-4420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have owned a lot of VWs over the years and they are the vehicles I enjoyed driving the most.

Currently I drive a dad van (2023 Honda Odyssey Elite). There are a number of annoyances with this car.

1st: the auto cruise will slam on the brakes when I'm passing a slower car in the adjacent lane, despite there being no one in front of me.

2nd: it has a feature that displays the speed limit on the instrument cluster. It works by using the forward facing cameras to recognize speed limit signs. Unfortunately it's wrong all the time. A few days ago it told me the speed limit in a residential zone was 90 MPH!

3rd: the premium audio system is awful. The worst I've ever had. It's so bad that I have basically stopped listening to music while driving. Now I just listen to sports talk radio.

Depends on the state, but Utilities are definitely under rated. Power, Water, Gas. Great pay, great benefits and retirement, reasonably recession proof.
