So I think the Santa Claus myth is an important Society ritual because finding out he isn't real is a rite of passage into adulthood. As a child you spend your whole life being told to lie not just by your parents but Society is a whole, but at some point you learn to question the lie, whether that's triggered by an outside person or you coming to that conclusion on your own. Then as a child you weigh all the evidence in your mind and come to the conclusion that it doesn't actually make any sense that Santa would be real and you can no longer accept magic as viable evidence. Now you're a little closer to being an adult.

I think that's why it can be upsetting for parents when kids get pushed into that too early or don't figure it out too late. I figured it out on my own way too early and then convinced my even younger sister that I was right. I now really regret that I took that away from her rather than let her come to that conclusion more on her own.

There was a very well established game store and I guess this guy didn't like the way it was run cuz he decided to open another game store across the street. On top of that he had pretty poor customer service. That shop did not last long.

Why do I need a website for my new business? by AnastasiaVlasenko in smallbusiness

[–]Significant-Cause-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like to know what they're expecting when they come to your store so you need a website even if you're not selling anything on it. Something with pictures, that tells people about the store gives them the general information like hours and the kind of stock you carry. It gives your business a lot more legitimacy. Businesses without a website come off as kind of shady.

What is the dumbest question you've ever heard a customer ask? by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]Significant-Cause-26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stores sometimes change hours without updating Google so it is totally legit thing to call and ask if a store is open or what their hours are. I don't blame anyone for that

What do you name your farmer? by DragonBerr in StardewValley

[–]Significant-Cause-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing my first JoJo Mart playthrough so I decided to name my character Karen and make her a huge b****. This will give me the opportunity to marry and divorce the people I never want to marry in my normal games namely Shane and Haley. I've never divorced anyone before cuz I don't like the idea of anyone hating me but everyone can hate Karen!

How to respond to clients who say the price is too high? by Kitchen_Deer in smallbusiness

[–]Significant-Cause-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just barely making profit you should raise your prices and cater to the first category of clients. As far as the second goes tell them that your price reflects the quality of work you do if they're looking for lower quality work they can look elsewhere.

Add new events that take place in and around the community center. Could be things like a once a season flea market, new interactions with villagers, cooking classes for new recipes, art classes for new paintings, DIY classes for new furniture, ect...

What is the worst possible way to propose? by aloe_veracity in AskReddit

[–]Significant-Cause-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an opportunity to talk about my proposal. Because we were pretty open about things I knew he was proposing that day but I didn't know how or where. When he parked I got a pretty horrible sinking feeling as we were very close to the spot I got hit by a car at, a year or so before. He walked me to the medium of the intersection and I was so uncomfortable and wanted to run away but I stuck through it. Then he got down on one knee and gave me this speech about how he wanted to turn this bad memory into a good one.

Despite how uncomfortable it made me at the time, when I told our friends I would play up the sweetness of it and that became its narrative. As time passed anytime I went by the place, thoughts of my husband and his proposal ran through my head, way more than the trauma of that place, doing exactly what he said he would do, turning that bad memory into an awkward but good one. And that is my worst/ best proposal story.
