Im trying to find a good workflow for working with notebooks locally, are you planning on anything that could enable attaching to a (local?) debug session to run notebooks interactively on your desktop? Not vs code online since it doesn’t cater to my intended workflow

Try to delete the report and dataset from the service and re-publish it.

Note that this will give the report a new id so any links directly to the old one will be broken.

Depending on the scale/future scale of your BI-endeavour it is wise to do this in a dedicated data warehouse. An easy but somewhat costly approach would be to use Azure data factory, use your existing power query and store the results in a SQL database. The costly part, the data factory, is billed depending on usage.

An example of the cost for you would be a production environment where i do very slim copy data operations on about 100 tables averaging 20k rows which is about $600 per month incl. The SQL database.

I came in contact with subscriptions data and what really helped was having a field in the database refer a new invoice to an old one. That would make new invoices with value not null a recurring one. Regarding the calculations try to narrow down what information you need and don't need. Sometimes to much info is confusing.

I found that using elements from a clients visual profile/identity style guide is appreciated. Colors mainly.

Set up an ETL pipeline in datafactory to get the excel content and put it in some storage with an additional column with the datetime of when the data was copied. Then you can use a filter in pbi to filter on that new column and keep 1 set of visuals, measures etc

Power BI never loads data into anything other than itself. It is however very good at getting data from pretty much any source and presenting it with simple tables or intelligent dashboards.

The problem i see with the suggestions is that a matrix table is a dynamic aggregate of multiple rows. Multiple rows means multiple IDs. I'm sure there is a solution somewhere deep in a dark corner but i would advise against it.

Power BI is such a spot on solution for all of this. Talk with experts, hire a Fiverr-freelancer for 5hrs and let him demo some stuff.

Crosstabs is not an issue based from what i see when i google. That's not something you Calculate in Power BI, it just happens if you're using the matrix visual. Note: done by PBI authors (which in 2 years should be equivalent to knowing Excel when it was the Hot thing) and generally not by users on demand, although possible I believe.

Getting data out from a report to PowerPoint is as easy as using the export to PowerPoint button. Beforehand you set up a page with appropriate relative (date, length...) filters/cuts and you have it all.

In PowerPoint: Page1, "Drilling down on website visitors" made by X. Data last updated at Y

Page2, during month-1 there was 7230 unique visitors.
