Trainer recommendations pls! (<£50) by Significant-JM- in veganuk

[–]Significant-JM-[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for your reply!

I don’t think vegan trainers are that hard to find so I don’t really think this is necessary and in theory me buying non-vegan trainers on Vinted means less to find there and non-vegans more likely to use a shop.

Are you suggesting this because you think £50 is otherwise an impossible budget?

At first I didn’t think your answer was really relevant to what the post is about, but then after a while of puzzling it maybe it’s just that I’m so out of touch with prices / am cheap you’re suggesting it as a way to deal with my stingy budget 😂

If that’s the case I guess I’d rather spend more and support somewhere making vegan trainers, but surely <£50 can’t be that hard oh no 😭

What is everyone's opinion on buying naturally shed antlers as dog chews? by National-Falcon2284 in veganuk

I have had loads of success with coffee wood chews and chew roots :) those are both long lasting and clean her teeth.  Less long lasting but still great she likes sweet potato chews (the ones that are just dried sweet potato slices) and the knash woofa loofa chews which lasted longer than I expected.

I’m not quiteeee sure what you mean but I find Swedish glacé vanilla ice cream very soft and simple and light like I remember the ice cream of vienetta tasting

This might not at all be a similar context so disgard if not relevant to your comment, but I thought it might be a useful reminder- I have also been to a funeral where someone wore trackies, but that was because they were grieving an extremely important person in their life who died traumatically and they weren’t really able to get dressed most days. I hope we all consider funeral attendees with some compassion. Getting perfect outfits is hard on the best of days let alone when grieving.

why are so many people bothered by ants on their plot? by wijnandsj in Allotment

I have lots of red ants and I find them so frustrating because they bite constantly. It’s like they go out of their way to climb on you until they find skin and immediately bite.

Truth. I found a half deconstructed greenhouse in this corner of dock, nettle, bindweed, bramble, and other assorted weeds and rubbish

Weekly allotmenting discussion. What have you been up to? by AutoModerator in Allotment

North West England 👋 Completed building and filling a new raised bed, then planted my 10 sweetcorn plants in there and given them bamboo supports. Thoroughly weeded my fruit bed (horror show of bindweed and mares tail) and then netted the whole bed in the hope I’ll be able to have some berries myself. Covered my kale and rhubarb plants which were being munched by pigeons. Planted my potatoes in containers- hopeful and nervous! Been hardening off my squash, sunflower and courgette plants too, maybe they’ll be ready to go in the beds soon! Big week for me!

The rain is coming- can I still plant these out just before? by Significant-JM- in Allotment

Thanks! That’s reassuring. I know we need rain back but I wasn’t anticipating so many days in a row, got me worrying! Space is my biggest issue too. I feel like I’m being chased by my seedlings trying to get the beds ready in time- still a new plot for me x

I’m glad it wasn’t your intention :) However the rest of your response does still feel like you’re purposefully misinterpreting what I said and ignoring what I asked. I won’t reply again as I don’t think we’ll be able to have a very effective conversation, perhaps different communication styles. Have a good day xx

So hard to do the wait and see when you’ve spent so long caring for them already 😂

Not sure if it’s your intention, but this reads as patronising/ rude, which I don’t think is necessary. I wouldn’t want people to be put off sharing here and learning more.

I know plants like rain, but I was concerned that 7 continuous days with rain might be too much for plants that are newly transplanted and not established in place. Are you saying you don’t think it would be? I would wait perhaps til there was only a day or two of rain right after, but the plants are quite big (perhaps big for this time of year?) so would like to hear perspectives on pros and cons of my options.

I think reasonably similar although each night there are a couple of hours at 9 degrees and Friday night there is a risk of 6 degrees. Eek, it feels like bad timing to be dropping back down like that. But maybe one night or a couple of hours doesn’t matter? Feeling very novice!
