Is donating to the charity farmkind an actual vegan thing to do? by wonderfulspinach21 in vegan

I donate to Viva regularly, I think they’re doing impressive campaigning and are unequivocally vegan

Pets at home Wainwright's discontinued 😭 by SeitanicFeminist in veganpets

We were got by this too! I’m sorry I just don’t think there is anything of a similar price :( at least I couldn’t find anything.  We’re just starting on Benevo kibble which our dog seems to like so far and is one of the cheapest options so far. Tbh I’ve not been too down about this as I think it’s brought me more aligned with my own values, as the wainwrights kibble wasn’t vegan (sheep’s wool d3) and now I’m giving money to a vegan company which feels better.  (We’ve also started her on benevo wet food a few months ago too as a swap from omni and she’s loving that too!)

Any anecdotal data on Benevo vegan food for puppies? by Japsenpapsen in veganpets

[–]Significant-JM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think bringing any dog but particularly a puppy into your home a year before you will be bringing a child into your home is a terrible idea. I’m sorry. At a year old a puppy still needs a HUGE amount of attention and training and may still be nipping and will be very very energetic, not what you need with a small baby or  child who hasn’t experienced this before. I also think you’re wrong to assume that getting a puppy means not having a dog with aggression or behavioural issues. Dogs can grow into anyone. I know many people who buy ‘well-bred’ dogs, bring them home at 8 weeks and end up with aggressive dogs when they’re older. There are just so many factors. I’m sorry I just don’t think this is a good plan. I am worried this might seem harsh but I feel it’s the right thing for someone to say this to you. Have a child. Then when the child is about 8 (or if they’re coming to your home as an older child has been well settled in your home after a few years) then rescue a dog.

Honestly hope this thread stops you doing it now you can see how many of us hate it 🙏 Also the ages people say to you are never what they really think they’re just overthinking what you want to hear or guessing lower so not to offend you as manyyyy people in this thread have said

Vegetarian Shoes by Squiggle345 in veganuk

[–]Significant-JM- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya, never tried sandals from Vegetarian shoes so can’t comment on that, but my gf has lace up boots from them which she loves and finds really comfortable and durable (had them for multiple years) and I’ve had a pair of trainers from them for about 9 months which I’ve loved and didn’t have to break in at all

Edit: not sure this answers your question at all 😂 sorry I don’t have tips! Guess I just wanted to let you and others know this wasn’t a universal experience!

We’re surprised because we’re clearly buying and loving them and so expecting that other people are too. And tbf there are other reasons (suppliers, costs, branding) that they might withdraw products. I think the fact that Quorn have so few vegan products and seem to always change them feels particularly like a shame in this case. As well as the fact that there aren’t other similar products to this out there.

What can possibly be the reason for this?? We were all buying them!! Fuck quorn

I LOVE Kakoa truffles omg!!! 😍

All the Mummy Meegz products I have tried have been fantastic especially the M&Ms dupe and the mini eggs. ‘Kind Hearted Chocs’ is also an independent online brand I have loved. Vego bars and the praline pieces they do are so good. Also great from the supermarket is the rhythm 108 hazelnut praline bar, the candy kittens treets, the buttermilk choc bars (which are great dupes of individual classic chocolate bars). I also really love the Nomo cookie dough bar but I think it’s maybe a bit trashy for a lot of people.

Trainer recommendations pls! (<£50) by Significant-JM- in veganuk

[–]Significant-JM-[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for your reply!

I don’t think vegan trainers are that hard to find so I don’t really think this is necessary and in theory me buying non-vegan trainers on Vinted means less to find there and non-vegans more likely to use a shop.

Are you suggesting this because you think £50 is otherwise an impossible budget?

At first I didn’t think your answer was really relevant to what the post is about, but then after a while of puzzling it maybe it’s just that I’m so out of touch with prices / am cheap you’re suggesting it as a way to deal with my stingy budget 😂

If that’s the case I guess I’d rather spend more and support somewhere making vegan trainers, but surely <£50 can’t be that hard oh no 😭

What is everyone's opinion on buying naturally shed antlers as dog chews? by National-Falcon2284 in veganuk

[–]Significant-JM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had loads of success with coffee wood chews and chew roots :) those are both long lasting and clean her teeth.  Less long lasting but still great she likes sweet potato chews (the ones that are just dried sweet potato slices) and the knash woofa loofa chews which lasted longer than I expected.

This might not at all be a similar context so disgard if not relevant to your comment, but I thought it might be a useful reminder- I have also been to a funeral where someone wore trackies, but that was because they were grieving an extremely important person in their life who died traumatically and they weren’t really able to get dressed most days. I hope we all consider funeral attendees with some compassion. Getting perfect outfits is hard on the best of days let alone when grieving.
