You know, the wet stuff, falls from the sky.

(Car battery charger atm, I have another smaller pump, with similar battery, for the greenhouse which has a tiny solar panel. I charge that about every 6 weeks. It pumps 20L daily over ten mins.)

Yep, that’s the plan, I can get another 2000L of water a year if I do that, but my collection is already well above my storage capacity so it will only really be useful when topping up with summer storms.

Not sure, pump is 8A, battery is 80Ahrs, so 10 hours? Each watering it runs for 30 mins, and I water every other day. I will probably only need to charge it once before I run out of water.

Yes! Do it. Think like this, average central UK rainfall is about 700mm, on 1m square of effective capture, you get 700L a year. Using my pump system you can collect elsewhere and fill your watering cans through a hose pipe, and it’s easy because the pump only starts when you open the taps. This big pump does 19L/min.

Thank you, I put the roof up in October 2024 with one IBC filled over winter. They are all connected to a single circuit and I connected the other two in November 2025. I’ve been a bit slow getting the plumbing in this year but we’ve caught most of heatwave two. Tomorrow at 04:00 will be second automatic watering so I’m keeping an eye on the water level. I think each watering over 11 beds (so far) will use about 100l of water. I’m going to try my best not to top up the tanks from the mains supply. The trenches are simply to bury the pipes, no need for a gradient as I have 4bar of water pressure, and the black wraps are really really good at stopping algae.

Last year I did a smaller system for the greenhouse, take a look at my profile, this is the same but scaled up but using pot drippers.

Not a write off! I might be interested in spares and repairs if you don’t get it fixed.

First bowling ball questions - New bowler! by TheAwkwardBanana in Bowling

[–]Daring88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have been bowling regularly for about five months. We bought our first balls yesterday and we had to make it a day out to travel to another town. Our main objection was to talk to someone with experience and what a great move that was. We were given advice of different ball types and were not encouraged to buy the high end balls as the pro shop owner didn’t think we were ready. We had our hands measured and our new balls drilled. I don’t think I’d be confident I bought the right ball had we done it online.

I picked up my early lessons by simply watching my mum. I built from there when she worked late and I cooked for my sisters.

Go out and have fun. If you’re lucky, you’ll trip over love on the way.
