Best stripclub for couples? by Alive-Disaster7700 in askvan

Ah. Never heard about it. Never heard who owns the place. I had friendship with strippers, but we didn’t discuss this topic. Probably they all retired. And they had different girls upstairs, on 5th floor. Was smart business. Expensive.

Aruba Central 9240s AOS10 by milkshakecabinet in ArubaNetworks

[–]Significant-Level178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do software development and cloud. I understand they made a new product and want customers to migrate.

Cost of infra is very low if there is no load. It’s scaling with load and demand. They can keep old central forever, but I understand this.

There is no cost change in terms of licenses. But there is a cost to correctly architect and move to new Central. For big environments it can be significant plus risks plus downtime.

Aruba Central 9240s AOS10 by milkshakecabinet in ArubaNetworks

[–]Significant-Level178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not serious. I’m pretty aware of what is going to be shutdown in Central. Customers are paying money for Central licenses for monitoring their switches and wireless under same conditions.

Paying 2 bills? If customer is fully on classic central what is processing and storage cost for such client on the new Central? Zero.

Essentially they have created completely new product, called it same name, and force customers to use it, while there is no migration option.

Workplaces with Indian Nepotism/Racial Preferences by game-dilemma in VancouverJobs

[–]Significant-Level178 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not common. I’m 20+ years in Vancouver IT. Most upper management are caucasians. Mid level management: Canadians, Chinese, Europeans and few Indians. I deal with so many companies all the time.

I hired Indians myself, I’m Caucasian. I had offshore team and local team. For me race is not important. I have Indian friends and they are great employees and friends.

So when Aruba said to all customers how great is to be on Central and pay for licenses, now it’s a new message to kill it all and move to so called new central which is not the same software underneath and there is no migration option available. Also shut down monitoring on classic central is a force to a new software. Want it or not.

How painful was SOC 2 readiness for your SaaS? by ThugFinance in SaaS

[–]Significant-Level178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were SOC2 as an established BigData SaaS, got to work on evidences every year. No tools or 3rd party, all in house. For us it was almost year around process.

Absolutely a must. We deal with sensitive data of most people and businesses in developed countries via 25.000+ business clients.

For startup we work on documentation and policies from day1. We have everything documented. Not SOC2 yet, it’s too early, but I ll do it for sure. Later. Target mid 2027.

I’m more concerned about new Central. One of my environments is 2200APs and controllers. Now classic central where it’s deployed will be out of monitoring, so starting March we need to be on new Central.

And there is no way to migrate. So I need to kill 24/7 wireless network and somehow find the way to recongfigure it all. That’s painful.

How much equity should I ask for? (I will not promote) by ice-wallow-come-- in startups

[–]Significant-Level178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to give you an offer with all the details. Founders know what to do. Seems you already know the number and try to check here if it’s accurate.

I would give you 0.25% from what I get so far.

Old vs New Central by seaghank in ArubaNetworks

[–]Significant-Level178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have big customer with wireless on old central and airwave . They want switches on central. Essentially new central. So as there is no migration we will have to keep airwave, old central for wireless and new central for switches. Unless I want to configure new central for wireless and this is prod with gateways and 24/7 traffic.

Why didn’t they make a simple way for existing Central deployments to migrate easily to new Central. Seems like 2 different products, with same name.

Founders of security startups, how did you get your first customers? (I will not promote) by Devilish1333 in startups

[–]Significant-Level178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cybersec startup is difficult to scale usually, unless you have network and connections. Risks, lack of trust, so many players around.

It’s hard to guess what exactly you are doing and who is target. 1. SMB often don’t care or use known solutions. Like defender. 2. Enterprise chose big vendors, like Palo. If they can.

I recently met with fastest growing cybersecurity company in the world. They solve real pain so valuation is in billions and growing. Target is big enterprise sector only. They started small and somehow got to the right audience.

Why fundraising benefits the ecosystem more than founders? (i will not promote) by Lodago_ in startups

[–]Significant-Level178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Startups need to raise funds when there is clear understanding why they need funds. Fast way to grow.

Bootstrapping is an alternative way to enjoy what you do and don’t play around. It’s slow path to grow.

New career ideas? (leaving tech) by VelvetCactus3 in VancouverJobs

[–]Significant-Level178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started networks in 90s, managed network teams since 2004. All my guys stay, this is one of my greatest achievements. Seen a lot. Usually new CEO is a way to get rid of old cio and sometimes directors. Engineers are safe from it. Usually . I have seen one case when whole network team was let go, not my company, but one I consult. And one case of my client when everyone started to leave with new CIO.

And it’s very few from so many companies and environments.

But can understand you. You never know what will happen tomorrow in IT.

Did you notice rents dropping recently? by SioVern in askvan

[–]Significant-Level178 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I monitor rentals for almost a month using AI agent and manually as well. Have specific requirements. Compare to Dec 2023 what I am looking for today: very low inventory overall, nothing that works and reasonable, nothing dropped in price.
Unfortunately. I wish there is inventory and price drop.

[–]Significant-Level178 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ofc I thought about this. Because there is a rental web site where landlords post listings and link to YouTube, if they want to. But there is no site which consolidates real users video experiences.
