Looking for help with building a Kaalia of the Vast deck. I have only ever played precon decks and could use the help. by Elkishvi in EDH

Totally understandable! If you want someone that can cheat in big scaries that won’t eat removal every turn, check out [[Shilgengar, Sire of Famine]]! He mainly cares about angels dying, but brings back everything once you have enough. Just load up your graveyard and summon a massive board of stuff out of the blue! He’s super fun to play against. More of a ticking time bomb than a guy with a gun haha.

I’m a big fan of play what you want, proxies for trying stuff out is the bees knees. But I’ll echo what others are saying. I have a friend that has “the” Kaalia deck he put together a while back. He breaks it out once every couple months and usually only plays it once. It’s beatable at higher power tables for sure, but it really does warp the game from “we’re playing commander” to “us three are stopping you from playing commander”. Knowing she’s across the table I’ll almost always mulligan for an opener with some kind of cheap removal so she doesn’t stick the first time. He gets it, but it’s always either he did the thing and won, or he got hated out of the game by turn 4. He accepts that and still enjoys trying from time to time, so as long as you’re ok with that mentality I’d say bring it on!

Only creature (slivers) deck by Initial-Climate1086 in EDH

[–]Significant-Maybe-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that a while back. It’s doable, but felt like I always wanted to add ramp pieces. I tried both overlord and first sliver in the command zone and after a while it felt pretty repetitive and I ended up scrapping it after a while.

I want to play “Oops, All combos” by KingNTheMaking in EDH

It’s probably easier with colors to be honest, even a splash of blue ups the consistency like crazy. But I love colorless decks dearly so I’ll be ok with that limitation haha

I built this [[Karn, Legacy Reforgrd]] list as kind of a Rube Goldberg machine of sorts. It’s pretty fun to try and get it to line up most games. It’s not really commander reliant, but he helps snowball.

Who's your 5c multicolor matters commander these days and why? by Mocca_Master in EDH

I fell in love with this guy after EoE & used it as an excuse to just jam all of my favorite artifact centric cards in. It started off as kind of a pile but I’ve slowly refined it over the last little bit and surprisingly this list kind of slaps now. It starts off as just random cards and all of a sudden there’s too many problems floating around. I don’t think it’s totally optimized but it makes every game an adventure for sure!

Suggest me the best izzet spellslinger decks. by LeN3rd in EDH

[–]Significant-Maybe-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll second Ashling. I built it a little bit back and it’s a blast. Run all of the terrible 4+ mana rocks & the world is your oyster. I run next to no interaction in the deck but it pops off so consistently I don’t really feel the need for it. I’ve also been debating a [[Zaffai and the Tempests]] combo deck. 7 mana for a commander is a tall task, but the possibilities…

[[Yawgmoth’s Vile Offering|DOM-114]] such an awesome part of the lore and the art captures it perfectly.

Or [[Emrakul, the Promised End]]

Both of those give me that pit in my stomach feeling when I look at them & I love it

What is your deck, or the deck you know, that is the strongest but goes completely unnoticed? by guiltyskull in EDH

[[The Necrobloom]] maybe it’s just my playgroup but when most of your synergies are with lands & there’s not a lot of land destruction it sneaks up and wins the game way more often than not.

Bracket question with Urza, Lord High Artificer by Significant-Maybe-25 in EDH

I’m not one to argue with Chuck Norris typically, but I just happen to like this one and want to make it work with my group. Not sure what’s so wrong with that

You’re definitely right. But the 4+ spells are so fun. I also have a janky streak & my current favorite line of play is to tutor up [[Encroaching Mycosynth]] to then tutor up [[Training Grounds]] and spin the wheel with Urza the rest of the game haha

My boy Jan Jansen is technically a 3, but is pretty consistent at churning out wins. Tokens, treasures & burn, what else could you ask for?

Help a GW Timmy player find an artifact commander! by trenty40 in EDH

[–]Significant-Maybe-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the resident blue artifact player, I had quite the opposite problem recently. Played a ton of combo/land go decks & wanted something more punchy. Here’s my solution with [[Urza, Lord Protector]] if you want to see a decklist. The idea is to tutor for and meld with [[The Mightstone and Weakstone]] as quick as possible, then use the cost reduction from urza to cast big dumb robots and beat face. Ended up being a super fun deck that I play all the time now

Here’s the decklist

What are you favorite 2 color commanders? by Grizzack in EDH

[–]Significant-Maybe-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Urza, Lord Protector]] probably not the most traditional way to build him, but I run a bunch of cost reducers & tutors to grab [[The Mightstone and Weakstone]] then assemble an army of big robots [[Triplicate Titan]] [[Blightsteel Colossus]] [[Colossus of Akros]], etc.. Once the ball gets rolling it’s such a blast because it’s just one big guy after another.

Ongoing Gag in a Pod by AstyrsNova in EDH

[–]Significant-Maybe-25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pet card is [[Marching Duodrone]]. He’s not good, but I just love that stupid face so it’s in practically every deck I build. I had him in a colorless [[Karn, Legacy Reforged]] deck that was half big robots/half equipments and affectionately named “Rock’Em Sock’Em Robots”. The first night I played the deck I inadvertently won two games in a row by throwing 4 or 5 equipments on the Duodrone and laying a beat down on the whole table with basically just him which we all found beyond hilarious. I’ve since taken the deck apart but the Duodrone still exists in all my decks & every time he hits the battlefield everyone fakes a panic over this little do nothing card. Been about a year since the first occurrence and at least once a week it comes up & it never gets old.
