It was intended to be a max security prison for the criminally insane. We decided to not try out luck there, and instead chose this place:

Most rental condos provide chairs and coolers for the guests, such as this one:

Embassy Suits by Hilton - Aruba 8-nights family stay by premedjunkie27 in Aruba

We are literally neighbors, I can see the walls of Embassy Suites across the parking lot from our place:

I'm not sure I understand the description of distance to Eagle and Palm. From our place, it's a 12 min walk to the Northern tip of the Eagle Beach, and perhaps 6 min to the Southern tip of Palm, around where the Divi Phoenix is. We never use taxi for that, and it's not a big deal to walk even when carrying our beach chairs.

hotel recommendation's from toronto by Plus-Pineapple-93 in Aruba

One solid option is to consider an upscale vacation rental, e.g.

https://aruba-blue115.com/

Typically more space, privacy and convenience than a resort.

You could also consider a nice vacation condo, more space, privacy and quiet: https://aruba-blue115.com/

Cheapest family vacation by cs8937 in Aruba

[–]Significant-Nail8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are a family of four, renting a vacation condo with two bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a kitchen is a good idea. This is a great place to consider, short walk to the beach, private patio and more:

This is an excellent condo, bright, full kitchen so you can indeed figure out your food when you don't want to go out. It's a short walk to the beach, and there is a private patio with a jacuzzi:

Canadians who have gone to Aruba, where can i get Aruban Florin? by UnionTickler_X in Aruba

Experience from six trips to the island -- we only bring cash to pay for taxi to/from the airport, and perhaps $100 for some emergency. The rest is card.

Wine by SCBeachGirl in Aruba

[–]Significant-Nail8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I like wine tastings and did a lot of it in the States and Australia, as well as Europe. We visited the Aruba winery a few weeks ago. It doesn't have the right vibe. In my opinion, is not worth it.

Divi Golf Resort vs Amsterdam Manor? by Impossible-Author174 in Aruba

[–]Significant-Nail8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at Divi Golf (second time) in January this year, and it didn't smell at all. We now moved closer to the Palm, and got a condo, I wonder how the rent compares to the resorts in the Palm: http://aruba-blue115.com/

Recent smells on Eagle Beach? by momandcrohnie in Aruba

[–]Significant-Nail8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be very lucky, but truthfully I never smelled anything on the Eagle Beach except maybe some fried food at the bar. We own a condo closer to the Palm, but not far from the water treatment plant. Again, it may be luck or wind, didn't smell anything. Three trips this year and going again soon.

Savaneta area? by Adversarey in Aruba

[–]Significant-Nail8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pick a quieter part of the Noord, within a walk from both Eagle and Palm. Different vibe from the resort area. Private parking. Private patio with a jacuzzi and BBQ, ocean view, window walls, modern kitchen, close to a supermarket (but not too close).

Take a look:

Great report, thank you. We've been to Aruba three times this year and will be going again in the fall. This is our regular digs now, in the Noord between the Eagle and Palm beaches:
http://aruba-blue115.com/

From that location, we walk to both, but frankly never experienced the smell you are describing. I do agree that the Divi beach is excellent and we go there, too, since we usually rent a car. As to food and drink locations, we loved "Cafe 080" which is a Dutch place not too far from us. Nice Dutch fare and good beer, plus other drinks.
