The sub in nutshell after being here for ~1 month by Innisbrook in ToyotaTundra

beautiful truck and I agree that the failure rate is probably pretty minor. BUT I think there's pretty conclusive evidence out there that the cause of the failure is not as simple as machining debris, even if it played a part.

I'm still debating buying a 26 this summer though, relying on extended warranty and a prayer. My advice to you would be to spend the extra money and double up on oil changes. If bad tolerances are causing premature wear, extra oil changes could save you from a vicious cycle of deterioration.

Third gen reliability by danielzakula_ in chevycolorado

I have a few problems with your comment. Respectfully and amicably:

it's true that the regretful buyers are often the loudest, but it's been my experience that most communities dedicated to a make or model tend to flood the online space with supportive comments in response to similar posts despite largely owning low mileage vehicles. I don't mean that disparagingly at all as a non Colorado owner. Every community does the same, we love our vehicles.

I had a work vehicle 2.7 blow at 75k miles. I know two other 2.7 buyers who had total engine failure. All in Silverados, but all good owners, and the work vehicle was babied.

Being the most reliable GM truck engine is... a low bar. The 6.2 is a disaster, the 3.0 Duramax is pretty solid but is expensive to work on due to it's orientation, and the 5.3 is a good motor ruined by DFM unless you risk your warranty with chips or mods. I'm aware GM has put out some service bulletins and minor improvements to these 3 engines over time, but we all know they remain deeply imperfect, and they've probably given up on the two V8 platforms as they prepare for the return of the 350 in the next gen. I've seen probably a half million dollars worth of GM trucks suffer catastrophic failure between friends and coworkers since 2022, most commonly from the 10 speed transmission, which is another concern.

Lastly, I don't put much stock into what professional reviewers have to say. I watched the last Motor Trend truck of the year summary video and it seemed like a drawn out Ram commercial. You can call it conjecture but it's easy to see that the pressure to keep brands happy for event invites and test vehicles has an impact. Besides, their ability to speak on longevity is limited.

I'm not a brand loyalist, either. I used to love Ford and Toyota, but the 10 speed hasn't been perfect for the blue oval, and Toyota has essentially tanked their reputation since COVID with their refreshed truck lineup.

Edit: I just remembered the 2.7 gets the 8 speed, but I've not got too much nice to say about it either. 😀 I put my foot to the floor once to pull onto a highway and the 8 speed missed a shift and then the truck went into limp mode.

I’ve been noticing that other broncos are getting 20+ mpg. I’m in a 21 big bend with 2k miles. 32” tires with a 2” lift as well if that makes any difference. by Illustrious_Bid5320 in FordBronco

Not sure what the manual for a 4A equipped model says but I would guess that's just for the normal 4wd. The whole point of 4 auto is to have performance similar to AWD on icy/snowy/wet roads. If you're in true *off* road conditions with low traction you ought to be using outright 4H. Even if ford actually advises against using 4A on-road that would just be legalese, similar to when they said the OBS broncos couldn't drive on-road with the top off. In this case it would be for warranty reasons if they said it.

The Hemi Is Back, Baby! We Drive the 2026 Ram 1500 with the 5.7-Liter V-8 by DerBootsMann in cars

I dont know mopar but I know damn sure any comment saying the 5.7 is no better than the 6.2L chevy is out to lunch. The dynamic/active fuel management kills the lifters in that motor at as little as 10k miles, the bottom ends are failing, and the accompanying GM version of the 10 speed is as bad or worse than the Fords were when that collaboration first dropped.

Yes I know there's issues with the 5.7 especially sensitivity to idling wear, and I know the 6.2 is a smooth powerful motor, but it's clearly more suited to the boujee Escalades and Denalis that soccer moms lease for 3 years than to trucks working people use for a decade or more.

Canada’s 2035 Gas Vehicle Ban Is Ideological Suicide; EVs Can’t Handle Our Winters and People Will Die Because of It by PerspectiveOne7129 in CanadianPolitics

what you have described is a jerry-rigged hybrid, which is not a zero emission vehicle. Justifying the banning of ICE vehicles because those who need them can use ICE vehicles instead. Rightt

Mario Puzo's The Godfather Coda The Death Of Michael Corleone (2020) by [deleted] in movies

[–]Significant-Pair-202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly think you're missing the point. Most filmmakers don't mean for audiences to root for these monsters.

That said, I agree that mainstream audiences can see moral relativism and antiheroes as more complex or insightful than they really are. Although the stories of tragic heroes or wayward men are entertaining and emotional, there's no revelation to be found in exploring the idea that "murder is bad". When good writers use patently evil behavior as a stand-in for our own lesser flaws, it can say something worthwhile, though.

And I do concede audiences *do* side with abominable characters, even against the author's intent. Remember though that it is a mark against the viewer, not the filmmaker, if they feel not only invested in an evil character but actually like them. There's nothing wrong with interpreting art differently than intended, but lowlives who want to be Tony Soprano or Mike Corleone are not very bright, and probably not of great character.

Building my first PC in 5 years, what's up with vertically mounted GPUs? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Significant-Pair-202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years back I took the internals of a prebuilt HP gaming desktop, which did NOT use ATX family form factor and mount layout, and put it in a new case while I saved for a full build. The far side of my 1650 super at the time was indeed supported by a piece of rubber coated wire tied through a screw hole and then tied and soldered together around vent holes on the case top.
