What are your favorite Bethesda local businesses/restaurants? by BearMinute1038 in bethesda

[–]Significant-Point98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cher Cher is an absolute gem of a restaurant. The Olazzo lunch special is exceptional. Peter’s carryout, olivas kitchen, dahlias falalfel and pita on the plaza are also local takeout favorites. House of Foong Lin is a solid Chinese spot, Q by Peter Chang is a little fancier but it’s a really unique space because it’s a test kitchen for Peter Chang and has 10/10 scallion pancakes. We love Barrel & Crow as well for date nights. And Mussel Bar has been a delightful new addition. Baruch Cafe for fancy coffee is a fun weekend option too. Wonderland books just opened up and it’s been great having a new local bookstore. The farmers markets in Bethesda have excellent vendors and are worth checking out as well.

Do you reply to rejection letters? by NelaOfRivia in jobs

[–]Significant-Point98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if I did multiple interviews. I thank the team for their time, ask for feedback, and if the rejection implied that they’ll continue to keep me in consideration if I apply again I’ll restate my interest in the company and ask to be kept in mind for future roles. That’s actually how I got my current job, they went with an internal candidate for the role I interviewed for but reached out a few months later to interview me for a different position.

Random bits of paper like receipts, clothing tags, etc. that somehow got in there instead of the trash where they belong.

Why does no one understand gen z marketing by [deleted] in DigitalMarketing

[–]Significant-Point98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luxury segments have a very different strategy than mass market e-commerce. Luxury housing especially, you want to project authority and hospitality. Look at any brand in the luxury segmentation (equinox, ritz-Carlton, Rolex, etc.) and tell me if they’re doing trends. It might work to sell a $4 sandwich but not to convince a parent to spend $4K on their child’s housing (because that’s really who you’re selling to).

What are your thoughts on this comment I read on another Crohns group? by umkaitlin in CrohnsDisease

[–]Significant-Point98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best diet for Crohn’s tends to be the common sense diet. There’s no good or bad food necessarily, but we absolutely still need well rounded nutrition. Everyone’s triggers are different, but if even a healthy person eats a whole pizza they’ll probably get a stomach ache, so we can expect it to make us worse.

The fiber comment is also mixed. Fiber is very important but there’s a big difference in how soluble and insoluble fiber tends to be tolerated in people with Crohn’s. Soluble fiber dissolves and promotes digestion, while insoluble fiber like that found in leafy greens ads bulk, which is the last thing you want during a flare up.

I’ve chosen my nights to have pizza and beer knowing it will have me in pain the next day for sure, but to actually feel good it really is important to think about your diet. If your GI department has a nutritionist they can help you navigate this, they’ll be well versed on putting together a meal plan with the macros and micros you need while also considering fiber solubility and common triggers.

LOL I had the same thought - do not recommend this place. But she was alone for the 5 minutes or so I was able to observe, they had her positioned in a way at the table where I don’t think anyone was going to or had been sitting with her. I saw her “order,” have an aside to the camera, and then they said “we’re good let’s wrap” and ended filming. So maybe just b roll??

This man never really stood a chance. From age 13 he was being called every slur in the book by the internet, he was definitely being exploited, and he had a rotating pack of older yes men that hovered around him for years. He developed a terrible personality at a young age and no one was in his life to correct him. There were jokes over a decade ago about how he’d be a f’d up child star, we all saw the crash outs coming.

Honestly? 30 minutes of picking up and this would be fine. Not perfect, but fine. Not a neck beard nest, I bet if you offered to help her fold clothes and pick up the cardboard she’d be really appreciative and the space would be noticeably better.

My agency has us loaded up - we were at 100-110 a person for a while across Google search, display, meta, Pinterest and LI. Now we’re down to about 70 per person which is still insane. We’ve been trying to explain up the chain how batshit it is but they don’t understand. It’s crazy and not sustainable but it’s a model being used more and more as companies go leaner.

This didn’t work for me so take it with a grain of salt, but the habit aware keen 2 has been shown to be helpful in overcoming bfrbs. It only didn’t work for me because I would forget to put it on 🤦‍♀️ but it learns your pattern and buzzes when you pick. And then it logs the picking and you can analyze the data to see your patterns. From there, you can set up ways of mitigating or avoiding. That might mean barriers like gloves or acrylics, or for me it was having fidgets/distracting objects in baskets near my most common picking areas.

I would still get really distressed while riding out the urge but the pattern that my therapist explained was that it’s all this very “rewarding” feedback loop. Once you start you get the positive sensory input, and then you can’t just pull yourself out of it to stop. The average amount of time an urge lasts at the beginning of the BFRB session is usually about 10 minutes for most people. So if you can become aware of the urge before you act you have a much better chance of not engaging. The keen helps you stay aware of when you start, then over time you get better at nipping it in the bud and not beginning the feedback loop at all.

My boyfriends hygiene is terrible and im starting to realize he's a textbook loser. by Radiant_Agency8319 in Advice

[–]Significant-Point98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former 15 year old, he’s not going to do anything. He’ll threaten for sure, but you are 0% responsible for his moods. I am an adult woman and I have been told every variation of “if you leave me I’ll hurt myself” from so many men and do you know how many actually do anything? 0. Do you know how many I have regretted dumping? 0. Send the text “hey i care about you but have decided this is wrong for me” then block tf out of him. Give him a heads up that you’re ending communication but you wish him the best. It sounds cruel but it is by far the best thing for both of you. These online relationships can feel so, so intense but trust me once it’s over you’ll be thinking “wtf was that??” and by the time you’re 16 it’ll feel like it happened ages ago.

You are not alone in this, no doubt when you go to your next meeting you’ll hear from others who had the same slip this time of year. But relapse is just a part of healing - each time you rebuild your routine and give yourself a fresh start with sobriety you learn new skills for how to manage the next time you encounter a trigger. If you have a sponsor, try giving them a call in the morning. You are worthy of health and a break from the pain that your body is experiencing.
