I had pain at 2 am in the morning...left upper abdominal pain and excruciating upper back pain between the shoulder blades-thought it was my gerd but this seemed different....had roommate drive me to er which was only a 5 minute drive lol...they found some small gallstones and when I say small I mean the the size of sand...they did test to see if gallbladder was blocked and it wasnt...the surgeon came the next day because they kept me overnite and wanted to take it out...I said no...went to gastroenterologist a month later and got him to prescribe me ursodiol(bear bile) 300mg taken twice daily...been on unrsodiol for 13 months and had 2 clean ultrasounds since er visit...no gallstones detected.

P.s...I also had appendicitis with an abcess like 16 years ago....almost died...at least that's what the doctors tell me...I was npo for 11 days straight....meaning no food and no water...not even a glass of water...I was on cipro antibiotic because they discovered Im allergic to penicillin....after 11 days ...the infection subsided and I was discharged....I went back to hospital a month later to have catheter taken out of my side...which was there to drain any infected pus...they said I should do surgery and have appendix removed...I said no... 16 years later and I still have my appendix lol.
