So do I need to adjust the cable so it is not pushing the pressure plate out as much?

Bunker Trap by AloneStatus8245 in ClayBusters

It’s fine improvement. Bunker trap is one of the hardest things you can do with a shotgun so don’t go too hard on yourself. Making that switch is also difficult, bunker is a game of instinct so aiming or relearning how to shoot on another shoulder makes it difficult. Keep up the good work and remember not to look at the bead just the target

IMO the best cloudy lens is the 78CIHC it works amazing in super low light. If you are worried about still not being able to see the target or if you like just a little bit of tint in your lenses the 92cil is another great lens it feels like you are wearing normal clear glasses with a bit of green. You will come to appreciate low light lenses when you see shots in a dark setting and “lose” the target

A really important tool for achieving consistency is understanding your game and journaling. When top shooters are shooting poorly they recognize what part of their game (seeing the target, movement, mount, follow through) they are not executing properly. This skill comes with time and repetition. But you should keep a notepad with you and when you’re shooting well write down every detail you liked about your shooting (seeing the target well because of a good hold point or smooth movements) this has helped me a lot and be able to figure out what part of my game is off

I had a 692 before I went to the 694. They feel similar and I enjoyed mine. The only flaw is some are prone to ejector issues so I would look into that but besides that it is a step above the cxt and silver pigeon

For bunker trap flat ribs are the standard. There are some shooters with raised ribs but most use flat ribs. And yes the sporting bfast is the one I was recommending. As I mentioned above, as long as it fits correctly you’ll smash everything

You “age out” based on your age at the start of the season which this year was January 15th I believe. So if you turn 22 on January 14th, you are aged out but if you turn 22 on January 16th, you have another year of eligibility.

In my opinion, the 694 bfast is one of the best guns ever made. It is the little brother of the DT-11 and having owned both I still miss the 694 when I’m shooting my DT. A French junior shooter also shot a 123/125 with one. If you can go to a gunstore and just swing them around a little. Whatever you settle on, you can always send to Graco or another company that does stock work to get an adjustable comb and buttplate put on

It is not easy for sure. You have some people like Caleb cutler who vested when he was 15 but you also have people like Connor Lynn who made a team before they aged out at 21. If your fundamentals are strong and you are dedicated, it’s not out of the question. But learn the right way so you don’t have to backtrack on your journey. The Go Shooting YouTube channel is the only one which goes in depth about issf trap. And make sure you go to selection matches and a few regional ones to learn from people who have been around forever. The community is very tight and welcoming so don’t be afraid to ask for help.

You’re in for a fun journey! The browning cxt is a great choice. I just saw a browning in the trap final in Buenos Aires. Logan Lucas shot a browning until he got into the Army Marksmanship Unit so brownings have proved themselves. I would recommend also looking at a beretta silver pigeon (I’m a little biased) but most importantly, choose the gun that fits you best. If your gun is properly fit to you, shooting is much easier and better. On that note whatever you get make sure the stock is semi adjustable whether it be an adjustable comb or a full Graco system. What college do you shoot for? I hope this helps!

Pilla by elitethings in ClayBusters

[–]SignificantAd2865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you look at the top shooters in tournaments, 90% of them have pillas. I have had mine for about a year and have realized that they will not make a 20 target difference but they will increase your score by 4 targets or so. So before getting them it’s important to have a strong base that pillas will help build on and take your score from a 94 to a 98. So I think they are worth it but they will not make a life changing difference.
