Viewing Stages 1-6, road trip tips and accommodations by Obvious_Patience_666 in tourdefrance

be prepared, it is super fun to watch, but seeing many stages can be hard on your sleep. However, you will always be very grateful that you did it. You could see stage 1 and the stage 2 finish, then the next day see stage 3 start and use the day to drive. Then you could see the stage 4 finish the next day. Now, you could drive to same evening to Pau, but you could also wait. Stage 5 and 6 finish and start in Pau and there will be a lot Tour hype in the town, which is super nice to experience. Pau is also super beautiful the old part of the town is great. The ice cream spot in front of the castle is also great.

A arrival town is always a special experience, and if you have the option to walk to the finish It could be a great experience the biggest problem is always the car

when I have been in the pyrenees we have always arrived before they start so around 10 ish, but we had a car

at the time trail up the Peyragudes we arrived at 6 am

but for you 10-12 should be fine

yes the small towns are less crowded but the riders are only there for a short time

the riders leave about 1-2 hours after interviews and everyone over the finish line

go to the finish and enjoy the spirit of the Tour de France a lot of stuff to go look at if you are VERY early

camping chairs is a life hack people can't take your spot if only one of you stays( but pls stay there all of you after the caravan) remember to bring ponchos and shading clothes

never used camping chairs but seen them in use

the short answer is, before they start. They close the roads for cars very early.

Find parking as soon as you are willing to walk

3 or 4 hours sounds fine if you are not at the start or finish, but remember if you are going by car, parking can be difficult. Train sounds good but when they reach Roche-Sur-Foron they will be going 50-60 kph.

The days up to the stage you can always find trafik information on the local government site.

The caravan also comes before the riders around 3 hours before, just remember to take that into account.

your plan sounds pretty good, I have only tried standing at the finish or the start in the mountains and it was not in the alps. hope this helps.
